I know there is a connector plate for the lower two prongs. I have not seen anyone use the connector plate for tree work but I think it would help if the top clamp can still get by. The reason I think it would help is to push the second prong past the log instead of bumping into the log.
I actually like the design of that. Given its design, it will work great for manipulating individual logs. Also, as I was looking at it I thought it might be good for ripping up small stumps too.
I have used it quite a bit, mostly to move logs around on my property. It has worked well for this and is really handy to pick up the log for cutting into 20" lengths. I have moved brush piles also. Grapples are pretty simple and for my purpose, this design is better than a brush grapple. Well built and will probably outlast me.
