Really really love the last part where Excelsior's nacelles briefly power up and then fail, and how the nacelles power down completely and the ship starts to drift. It's details like this that make your version fantastic!
Someone had a great idea to extend the scene. To have Excelsior actually go into warp. Then have the malfunction as they try to cut in Transwarp. Knocking them out of Warp and temporarily stranded with just impulse. Great Job though. Best remake I've seen.
@@DocMicrowave Would’ve loved to have seen that. That’s actually what I expected to have happen. The first time I saw this (like 8 years ago) I knew Scotty was up to something in the “up your shaft” scene, and, well, this is Star Trek, so of course they’re gonna get away. But, I expected Excelsior to at least briefly achieve Warp before losing power. I did like this re creation where the nacelles at least lit up like they were about to go. Okay, I love the little things you added to this---the reverse angle on Excelsior during the chase, the Excelsior's view screen when the Enterprise jumped to warp... You nailed this one... Well done! You did this long time fan favorite--justice.
Just think, this channel recreated this for fun but oooooh no, a big studio can't make new HD renders of CG ships. I still have the standard definition of TMP directors cut because paramount doesnt have the capital to spend on re-rendering those scenes. This is why films still shot on 35mm is one of the best ways to enjoy 4k transfers. Most of the effects were shot on film like TNG, and all the models Lucasfilm made pre CG hold up great in HD. Seeing the beauty passes of the Enterprise D for the first time in HD was breathtaking. And your blender renders here really show the textures of the haul plating. Especially when light reflects off it. Great work!
@@ThatGuyBrian The TNG model shots were not redone for the remaster. They were the original shots filmed for the series using models. The effects such as phasers, transporters etc. Which were added in post at video tape quality (to make the shows SFX economically viable), were all redone as CGI, yes, and faithfully of course. But the ship shots were not recreated using CGI as they were originally captured on film, and could be simply rescanned at 1080p like the regular shots. With one exception... there was one particular flyby shot they couldn’t find the reel for, so that was recreated, but you only see it a few times across the entire series.
The refit enterprise is a character on its own. Every segment of the score on the Enterprise is like a story. A wounded ship at what ever the cost to reach Spock and bring him back. Goosebumps!.
Amazing. The difference with most all film today is they lack the majesty and artistry that pulls you into the moment. These segments from the original films are like art. Every detail considered. The design. The composition. The lighting. The pacing. So well done.

God, it always hurts my heart to see the damage that Khan inflicted on Enterprise. Well done on the subtle touches here, especially Excelsior's nacelles powering up for a second before cutting out!
I really enjoyed Excelsior's main viewer perspective of Enterprise warping away, complete with the subtle *pop* sound as Enterprise finally vanishes in a white flash! Excelsior's engine glow and dud engagement were fantastic! The satisfying ending of seeing Excelsior's nacelles fade out as the ship begins to list slightly is the perfect end. Nicely done!

I love the little TNG nod at the nacelles as the Transwarp is suppose to engage, but ends up failing completely. The shot of the Excelsior on the Enterprise's view screen and the Enterprise speeding off into Warp was a very nice touch and adds to the tension. Masterfully done.

Also loved the blue engine flash of Excelsior you added; it looks very similar to the Enterprise-D and Voyager warps, which makes sense, if we consider that Excelsior is "the great experiment," the prototype of Starfleet ships that would be in service several decades, if not a century later. Thank you for making this.

Boy, I didn't even realise this wasn't the theatrical release! The only thing that gave it away was the low-poly textures on the outside of the space station. Then I checked the video title. Well done!
The music when the Enterprise exits the doors, and later when it starts moving forward again outside of the doors, proves once again how much music can elevate a film. Everything is moving at a snail's pace, and would have otherwise seem dull and boring without that music carrying the scenes. 🎶🎶🎶🎶
Excellent job! The tension of the faces on the crew when they are about to collide with the space door is damn fine acting and your edits did not diminish that scene at all. I think you added to it by making the spaces doors seem much closer and the ship move faster. Great work.

And as long as there are people like us around, Star Trek will never die! Teach your children well. Keep the flame alight. Live long and prosper.
I always laughed whenever the drive first conks out on the Excelsior. But you adding that brief flash of the nacelles like, "Nope, just can't pull it off with this equipment" makes it 5X as hilarious.
Probably the best rendition of this scene I have ever had the pleasure of watching. Excellent job keeping it true to the original material but throwing in the little extras that really make the scene shine.
Star Trek III is honestly my tie for my favorite Trek movie. Right up there with TWOK. I have to say, you did a great job. I love this. Really. My hat is off to you.
This is my favorite scene in the entire Trek canon. I will say that I think nothing can compare to the original physical models, however! You did an amazing job with this and I admit that one advantage of doing it all in CGI is that everything is able to blend together in a more seamless way, with regard to lighting, shadows, and scale. Spacedock looks more appropriately gigantic here compared to Enterprise. Also the image of Luna used behind Spacedock does look better in this version. Also massive props for the two added viewscreen shots, a great callback to the original TV show in which that framing technique was used more often. In particular the viewscreen shot on the Excelsior is appreciated because we never saw it in the film! It also adds an increased sense of "holy crap they actually went and did it" on the part of Captain Styles' expression and reaction. Bloody fantastic work.
"... Sir, someone is stealing the Enterprise!" I knew every word in this movie, every scene with music added to it. Incredible movie. Incredible piece of work, Jason.
Hearing, and watching this still gives me a boost of adrenaline and makes my palms sweat. My parents bought the first VHS pressing back in 1985 and remember watching it and just loving ever minute of it. Star Trek III is still my favorite.
To echo the other comments, recreations work best when they ADD something to the original that wasn’t possible at the time. This one does that with the view screen details, the excelsior warp/no warp nacelle flare. Well done!
I recently was discussing how each Captain has a 'catch word' to tell the crew to jump to warp. I never noticed that Styles got in the game too: "Execute!" I wonder how long he'd practiced that command in the mirror in his quarters. While filing his fingernails.
EXCELLENT........ All of you ( on the end credits )..... a ROUND of Applause👏👏👏👏👏 That was Great work, on One of the few scenes of S.T.-lore ( Klingon attack on V-GER, ENTERPRISE - RELIANT 1st battle ), that I ALWAYS enjoy watching over and over. If one 'criticism' , I Think that the 'Space Dock' outer skin (exterior shots) seem too bright......maybe it could be do to reflection from planet Earth, or Sun shining in that direction (??) But, I enjoyed the shadowing of ENTERPRISE flying over S.D. and EXCELSIOR having a "Blow-out" on warp nacelles and shutdown. Again, EXCELLENT!!
fascinating stuff even with the damage Enterprise still looks beautiful....i love the extra details in the Spacedock too. the original sequence still looks good by todays standards & this sequence blends in very well. sure it took a lot of work just to make it look like the movie. it's difficult to believe how old this movie is now & i still remember clearly seeing Search For Spock at the cinema when I was young
1. Thank you for this. 2. This is one of my most favorite scenes from all of Star Trek. 3. To this day, I believe Scotty failed to hack the Space Doors. I think the Harbormaster opened them at the last second to prevent the Enterprise from crashing and blowing up half the station. He knew Kirk wasn't going to stop. 4. Can you do more like this? I can't get enough of these Star Trek re-masters. Perhaps something from Wrath of Khan?
Regarding #3, when we see the charges read at the court-martial in Star Trek IV. . .notably there are no charges related to unauthorized access to Spacedock systems or anything related. All the charges except the one count of disobeying an order against Kirk were dropped because of the Whale crisis. . .but the actual charges they were arraigned on didn't mention anything about hacking the spacedock doors/security system in the theft of the Enterprise. So yeah, that supports the idea that someone inside Spacedock opened the doors for him rather than let Enterprise collide with the doors.
Ok, Jason...Ok....no one has said it that I'm aware of so I'm going to....Where is the Wrath of Khhhhaaaaaaaannnnnnn!?!!?!? lol. Excellent work as always! If you do TWOK, I'm going to just lose it. That movie needs a bit of spicing up, with the initial battle and the Mutaran Nebula scene....
Yeah, that'd be pretty cool to see. TWOK's special effects were seriously impressive at the time, especially given the budget constraints they had (compared to ST:TMP before it). Their limited budget was the reason both ships ended up with no shields when they exchanged fire. They couldn't afford the special effects to show weapons fire hitting the shields, so the script was revised to show Kirk being complacent at first and Khan being clueless and over-confident, leading to a no-shields showdown. Then conveniently the nebula where the final battle was set interfered with both ships enough that their shields couldn't work. Sneaky, but still pretty clever. It paid off in the end since they could spend their effects budget on that spectacular final battle. You just know they had a blast destroying those models for the effects shots. At any rate, it'd be incredible to see this artist's interpretation of the two big battles in TWOK. I have no doubt he'd knock it out of the park.
This was awesome, great job. One thing in particular that makes this entire scene so powerful is the musical score , composition and the phrasing/timing with what is happening. Re-play it and listen to all the nuances on how the music rises, falls, stops, etc. Like around 1:10 and 4:50 over the next 20 sec. Many of us take it for granted but this is a science that is key to establishing the mood, and I can easily see certain movies being flops with bad music and sound engineering. It all fits together of course, everything matters, from acting through to video and audio.

The Excelsior view screen was a great bonus!
The producers were tight on budget and could only scrape a corner of a studio for the bridge 🤪
But boy did they go hard on that corner. Original Excelsior may have been the worst - yet most ostentatious - Starfleet interior design ever.
Yeah, that bridge was pretty bad!
Bloody fantastic work.
wonderful effort, thank you for the love you put into this!
Absolutely amazing film-quality work! You have updated this so subtly, but with such a high impact in the perfect places. Well done!
Excellent! I especially love the view of Enterprise going to warp on Excelsior’s view screen. Nice touch.
By damn, that is extremely impressive work, by far the best Trek FX re-creation I’ve seen outside of the HIKE shorts. I predict you’ll go far. 👍
A brilliant remix of my favourite sequence from my favourite of the movie franchise. Excellent artistry and extra touches!
Excellent version. Loved it! Please keep making more. 👍🏽
"... Sir, someone is stealing the Enterprise!"
I knew every word in this movie, every scene with music added to it.
Incredible movie.
Incredible piece of work, Jason.
This is just perfect! Beautifully done!
This is one of my favorite scenes from this movie! Love the updates,
Ok, I haven’t seen the movie in a while, but for large parts, I can’t tell your effects apart from the originals! That is mind-blowing!
Hearing, and watching this still gives me a boost of adrenaline and makes my palms sweat. My parents bought the first VHS pressing back in 1985 and remember watching it and just loving ever minute of it. Star Trek III is still my favorite.
I miss Trek when it was still Trek.
Wonderful! My Favorite scene from all the movies with all the little bits it needed! Well Done Sir! Well Done!
To echo the other comments, recreations work best when they ADD something to the original that wasn’t possible at the time. This one does that with the view screen details, the excelsior warp/no warp nacelle flare. Well done!
OMG, I have always loved this scene SOOOO much. Nice job on the upgrades.
The swell of music as the E clears the doors still gives me chills
this comment doesnt get enough love. People were cheering during my sold out showing when this happened.
Going 2 Movies are expensive.... But i'd pay for these GREAT Star trek films
Nice job. This scene really makes the audience feel how incredibly fast one quarter Impulse power really is.

I recently was discussing how each Captain has a 'catch word' to tell the crew to jump to warp. I never noticed that Styles got in the game too: "Execute!" I wonder how long he'd practiced that command in the mirror in his quarters.
While filing his fingernails.
"How can you have a yellow alert in space dock?"
That is comedy
less than a year later Enterprise A goes on Red alert in Space Dock....that captain was beyond a dick
EXCELLENT........ All of you ( on the end credits )..... a ROUND of Applause👏👏👏👏👏
That was Great work, on One of the few scenes of S.T.-lore ( Klingon attack on V-GER, ENTERPRISE - RELIANT 1st battle ), that I ALWAYS enjoy watching over and over.
If one 'criticism' , I Think that the 'Space Dock' outer skin (exterior shots) seem too bright......maybe it could be do to reflection from planet Earth, or Sun shining in that direction (??)
But, I enjoyed the shadowing of ENTERPRISE flying over S.D. and EXCELSIOR having a "Blow-out" on warp nacelles and shutdown.
Again, EXCELLENT!!
Great updated versions and really nice touch with the detailed star base and ships
The underside of spacedock with beautiful blue lights and planet behind is a great shot at 4:30! Well done.
fascinating stuff
even with the damage Enterprise still looks beautiful....i love the extra details in the Spacedock too. the original sequence still looks good by todays standards & this sequence blends in very well. sure it took a lot of work just to make it look like the movie. it's difficult to believe how old this movie is now & i still remember clearly seeing Search For Spock at the cinema when I was young
Marvelous job! Thank you for sharing! Those little enhancements & additions were perfect!
Star Trek II may be the best but Trek III will always be my favorite and this is my favorite scene. You nailed it. Nice extra touches. Top notch.
Amazing Thumbs Up I Like It
Thank you very much, JTVFX, for uploading this funny video of "Star Trek" so that we can see it again.
Please have a nice day today. ©®

I really love how the enterprise just barely fits through the opening doors.
Ok… so , the choices you made around the excelsiors nacelles lighting up and then flickering out… CHEFS KISS! Perfect
"Transswarrp drive, maximm velosity, in fivve, fourrr, thrreee, twwoo, onnne..." Nope! :D
The little "sputtering engine" sound right after that was a brilliant little touch too. "Old" Trek had such a good sense of humor.
Fantastic job greatly improving the special effects on one of the greatest star trek scenes ever.
“If he tries to get away on warp power, he’s in for a shock.”
(YOU are in for a ‘shock’ of your own, Skippy! 🖖✨)
Man those traditional ILM models were magical..this was a great effort!!
🖖😎👍Truly one of my all time favorite scenes ever from the Startrek movies indeed!...
Excellent, this could replace the actual original footage.
Loved how the enterprise left the excelsior in her dust. C Ya !
...why aren't you working in Hollywood?
This was awesome, great job. One thing in particular that makes this entire scene so powerful is the musical score , composition and the phrasing/timing with what is happening. Re-play it and listen to all the nuances on how the music rises, falls, stops, etc. Like around 1:10 and 4:50 over the next 20 sec. Many of us take it for granted but this is a science that is key to establishing the mood, and I can easily see certain movies being flops with bad music and sound engineering. It all fits together of course, everything matters, from acting through to video and audio.
I just love this re-creation. Also, love just how the Excelsior's transwarp drive sounded like she physically broke something.
That was VERY NICE!! I loved the extra little details on the lighting and the ships!! 😎 COOL!!
