You take pride in your skills and craftsmanship - i've seen so many hacks and "professionals" who don't know what they are doing over the years, it really shocks my when I see someone who does quality work.
@@nevillesmith9795 Optical illusion my ass, why do you think he jump cut at 3:09 to the positioner being further away from the table? It hit the vice at 3:07, you can see it pushing the pin off center.
@BMGrilla60 when I read your comment that it sit on me too. Until the camera angle moved to show the end result of the weld than I was, yah right!...it was well away from from the vice
@HVACQualityAssurance I agree. I actually, at one point, thought he rotated it till it gets to the vice and stops and then rotates it back and start all over again🤭
I used to make these as replacement parts for Blackpoll Hydraulics. Aftermarket part. Hardened steel shaft with MS bracket. Special rods for the welding.
18 months ago TH-cam recommended me your channel. The video they recommended was when you did major aluminum repair on a boat. After watching it I subscribed because I found your expertise in welding and really good videoing was awesome to watch. Thank you for taking us along your journey brother❗️👍🙂
Welded a bunch of socket welds a couple years ago putting flanges on 3” pipe using that exact positioner and Lincoln Ultra-Core 71A85. Awesome way to do it.
I see the problem. You are definitely using the wrong equipment. You see what you need is one of those flux-corded welders from the harbor freight with some of the.028 wire that will last you at least 2 weeks before it starts rusting and some of there cut off wheels that you can cut at least 6 inches of sheet metal before it wears out. No man just having a little fun. I’ve heard you say how people always say that you are using the wrong equipment and figured I would have a little fun with it. Hopefully you got a good laugh. We all need one every now and then. Happy new year.
So it would seem, no judgement, but we are past the point where even a small welding shop has to be able to use CAD/CAM to remain competitive, and we are rapidly approaching the point where even operations such as Greg's have to be able to use generative KI to speed up the processes further still. Possibly smaller ones, too.
The master at it again. That dual shield sounded smooth. Any new tools for the new year. Happy New Year Greg. One of these days I am coming to California. I went in 2008 and 09.
I down sized to 0 lathe..... Than the one i Ieft 18 1/2 swing 26" swing with the gap removed. And 84" center to center. 3 1/16" hole through the head stock. 😫😫😫😫 Nice job 👍
Someone should ascertain why that ear broke off! When the ear fails that way it usually indicates a sloppy pin and overly restrained ear !! Great repair! Now prevention !!!
Unless your plasma is different than mine, you should be cutting your paths in the opposite direction. Best side is the right side as the tool moves away from you. Conventional (vs climbing) cutting. Inner parts should be CCW and outer should be CW
Dear Mr. OFW, I have some questions. When you have a broken or deformed part, where to you get the specs to restore the part to the original dimensions? Does the manufacturer supply them to the purchaser of the product? Do you have to purchase the specs from the manufacturer? Particularly if it is a machine that may be older and not supported any more. I do not think the manufacture will supply the information out of the goodness of their heart. Barring new technology will you ever be at a point whare you do not have to make expensive welding equipment investments not including trucks and consumables. I have never touched anything to do with welding, but I find the science fascinating. Thank you.
Typically I reverse engineer the part to get my dimensions. When that part is bent and twisted it’s difficult but can be done. And typically the manufacturer will not just give out dimensions, they want you to buy a new one or bring it to them.
It looks like you weren't removing all of the slag after each rotating pass. Was I misinterpreting what I was seeing? If I was interpreting it correctly, is it not necessary to absolutely remove all the slag before making another pass?
I worked at Les Schwab for almost twenty years and noticed the old truck in the background with demountable wheels or California wheels... Haven't seen those in years, it's all hub piloted wheels nowadays...
Can you like write me a list(wishlist to Santa 2025.. disclaimer; not Wish) with your better equipment, maybe som not so good to #overclarified instructions to the North pole. ..since I was little I have been very suspicious that every single one of them is dyslexic, actually. Weld on👍
awesome job, as always. What makes you want to film certain jobs and not others? Curious about your decision process. BTW forgot to comment on how awesome that close up was with all the extra stuff
Honestly I just randomly chose about one job per week to film. I try to pick something that I think will be interesting to my viewers. I thought about having someone follow me around and film me, maybe if I find the right person.
*On Fire Welding* Bravo well done, thank-you sir for taking the time to bring us along. GOD Bless.

As always fantastic workmanship
Easy Peezy! Well at least that how you made it look like! 👌👍! Thanks for sharing! Greg! And keep them coming!
Sweet job Greg
The proper tools sure make a difference
It's the know how that makes a difference, all the proper tools won't get no one anywhere without knowledge.
Happy days guys, thanks for sharing 🎉
I kept waiting for that rotating piece to hit the vice handle. 😅
LOL, I was like 'I can see it from here, why can't he?!'🤪

I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Nice simple project here! Atleast they didn't break the whole arm.....yet!
That rotating tool sure made that job go smoothly! Never would have even considered that a use for the tool!
You make it look easy.
rotary welding fixtures are great. using the lathe to do it on is nice but comes w/ problems like arcing through the bearings i found in my ignorance

Hopefully, they start greasing the pin now so it isn't stuck next time 😂. Great job making the repair in a hurry, Greg.
Job security for Greg!
In your world, that was a piece of cake!!
Nicely done! Cheers!;-)!

With the new year ,could you give a shop tour/ truck tour and things you would like to add throughout the year?
That’s a good idea
Happy New year and continued success in 2025 from the NJ Bayshore.
Happy New Year to you and the guys.
that plazma table is something excellent job

Love the work brotha maybe put an extra weld mask in front of the camera for we can see up close and personal for us new welders if you can
Great repair job.
That is a proper job, looks like it has some amature repairs in the past
Fun to watch.Thanks

@tdotw77 get out the lineboring equipment!!!
Easy, pesy that took longer to set up and film than it took to do the job
Thank you Sir

Why is that? Parts twisting from thermal stresses?
@tomtd no one side of the vortex Cuts cleaner and straighter than the other side. It gives you a squarer and better Edge
Think of it like an end mill, how one side always has a better finish.
I’m still learning, but I do know about that. I will check and make sure I’m going the correct direction.
A quicky, those are the money makers =)
Love it. Thanks.
Greg you’re sneaking up on 100’000 !
I'm impressed the pin didn't have six different OD's. Guess that's why they wanted the tab put back on. LOL.
Quality... Simples ...
peace
Great vid 👍🏻👍🏻
We can’t compete with your toy box thanks
How do you like that Vevor weld positioner?
It’s been good
That should hold.

🙂quick and good !!
Perfect 👌🏻
I think my head is spinning…
What does a pin that long go into?
Not sure. It’s something CAT I believe
Is that 1/16 wire?
Yes
Nice!
easy peasy

About 90% of it came off. If it’s not x ray welds it’s not necessary.

Put the subtitles so that people can choose the language like Spanish that's why my vote is like this 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
Subtitles are turned on. It’s up to the viewer to turn it on, on their end.
Generally I like your work. That said, the idiot running the lathe without glasses would last about 5 seconds in my shop..... But hey, you do you.
Safety squints were applied!
