I just finished the door and quarter windows and appreciate your videos very much. It helped tremendously. Just watched your adjustment video and on to doing that. Your videos are easy to follow. 🤙🏽
My '68 was built during the third week of February. My drivers side has "bird glass", the passenger side does not. I know the history of my car all the way back to October 1977. So, I'm thinking somebody broke the passenger glass and replaced it with non-bird glass before 1977. GREAT video, I do enjoy them!
My guess is like you said it was replaced with glass without the bird. I recently stumbled upon a 68 convertible that was early production as well but had the passenger side bird glass and plain glass for the drivers side.
@@leegreen2163 nope the only thing that is consistent is early production date only And even then it didn’t matter fully loaded 400 car or a plain Jane 6 Cyl it was hit or miss if it has the bird glass
Thanks for the info. My seats (original) need recovered. Planning on recovering them this winter-only after watching your upcoming video! Thanks for the videos!
A big thank you for the glass removal and installation videos. It was time to remove, clean and re-grease the tracks, and polish the scum off the bottom of the glass. To better protect the glass during the removal or installation, and to provide a way for a 2nd person to help lift the glass, I put a large piece of carpet protect plastic on both sides of the glass, and it extended a foot above the glass...Makes for a good handle. 1 windows down, and the 2nd one next week. Thank you, and a token of my appreciation is coming your way.
Nothing wrong with a great creative solution to get the job done. Cleaning up and lubricating the regulators will Make them work great and worth the effort
And again great video!!! The great thing about your channel is when I get started on my 67 I know I can just disassemble my car with no worries because if I forget or have trouble putting it back together I can always depend on your channel for the information to get it done thanks again for all you do!!!!!
Interesting take on installing the windows before the tracks. Either way, your video gets camera angles that the others out there don't. I found it to be visually more helpful than others. Thank you.
Thank you for that video, it was very informative, I need to replace the driver's side door after locating one the hardware that's in my old one has all fallen to the bottom of door.
Great video wish i saw this before i took my car a part! The video i wached of a guy with a camaro had to use some trick camra work lol but doing it your way will be alot easier just reverse it for taking it apart you are really good born to restore fierbirds and anything that needs fixing!
@VinylVillageGarage yes after this one and your high school fierbird you can find one that's completely wasted like a couple of guys on TH-cam are doing and restore it lol that's almost what you do anyways you have helped me out tremendously and I bet alot of others! God bless you brother John🙂
@@gibsonexplorer8777 I do like the idea that these videos are helpful, my grandmother was a teacher, grand father was a mechanic my dad was an aircraft technician so I suppose it’s only fitting I ended up a mix of all of them. Oddly enough I enjoy playing cars and sharing what I have learned so it’s been a fun and rewarding journey
@@VinylVillageGarage OK, looking forward to the new one. I have a quarter window that doesn't move up without help and I'm not sure if it's the motor or just gummed up tracks, rollers, hardware, etc. Keep up the vids as they are a big help. Cheers!
@@tommyspencer7891 a lot of the time even with manual crank windows a good cleaning of the track and regulators And add new grease fixes most of the issues. If you don’t see anything obvious start there
Loose hardware, worn rollers, out of adjustment. There is a height stop that is adjustable on the front and rear of the regulator. There is almost unlimited adjustment of the glass on these old birds.
Thanks for keeping us on track with our window regulators Jon. The pumpkin is coming along nicely.
I have such a small pile of parts left to install. It will be weird not working on the pumpkin.
Great video and extremely helpful!
Thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Great tips again. This video should allow anyone with a 68,69 firebird (Camaro)be able to install their glass with confidence. Thanks for sharing 👍
That’s the plan! Very welcome
I love the etching on the glass! Smooth install, nice job.
I love the etching as well. Wish it stayed in production.
This video is a lifesaver. I'm restoring a 1968 Camaro, and I took the windows out 8 years ago. THANKS!!!
Fantastic! Glad to help
And good luck with completion of your Camaro project.

Great to hear! Trying to take the mystery out and make building cars a things more of us can accomplish

I had a "Firebird " guy years ago tell me cars built before April of '68 had the the bird glass. Is there any hard rule on which cars got the birds?

That’s fantastic!! You get it. My goal was to do just that, provide some
Sort of resource for restoring and reassembling these old birds.
Great job buddy nice and simple people shouldn't have a problem now with this video thanks for sharing your knowledge and skills 👍
Thanks buddy. Not sure it will be a popular video but could be a lifesaver for someone
Nice video, Jon. I think that is probably the simplest F-body install I have seen.
Nice. Work smarter not harder is how I try to do things.

Really trying to be helpful in the goal. Not just showing that finished product.
Very Nice! Thank You! for your time on this and all of the other video's I appreciate your talent!
Welcome glad you found it helpful.
Great Info! Dig your way of explaining!
Thanks for watching!
great instructional video Jon! thanks for posting.

Thanks John!

You're up early, Jon!
Lol. I am up most days at 5am even my days off
Regulator assembly and adjustment - once you understand it and have done it it's not so bad, but the first few times are a PITA .
Yes it can be a bit of a puzzle
For sure
Nice, I'm guessing it's different than a 67 camaro/firebird? I will save this as a reference video, thanks for sharing.
Yes you are right. the glass is a bit different for the doors.
Does that Summit Racing black chassis paint have a BROWN UNDERTONE ???
Sure does. It’s worse on camera in person you can still see it especially when put up beside something black.
What kind of lube did you use in the tracks and the rest of the needed places?
I used basic bearing grease that I had. Seems to stay in place and work good.
Would a power set up be more or less the same? And are you going to shoot a vid on the quarter windows? Thanks Jon!
Yup just finished doing the 1/4 glass video. Need to post it on TH-cam
Power window regulators are about the same as for installation too.
