Some very good tips, much appreciated 👍. However, if you follow Trangia instructions and watch their YT videos you will see whenever dealing with the burner, remove the top windshield first, much safer and without drama! Regards from deepest Dorset.

A ground off the tab on the sisters ring/ flame extinguisher to make a slightly larger opening. Then I straightened a kilt pin, folded it in half and squashed and bent just one end to make a hook to rotate the cover. I can open it up again to use the pin to clean blocked trangia jets.

Great little video and thanks for your reply to me on your previous vid. Some handy tips on this one. I never thought about carrying a lid in the set. I do however carry a round steamer rack for the upper settings on the trangia so I can use different frying pans. Take care. Cheers, Ian

Glued a magnet on top of the flame adjuster/simmer ring. Using my pocket knife to pick up the magnet/adjuster...

Thanks for sharing these ideas, I have the 27, and 25 sets and periodically search for the pot lids, I know each respectively fits both pots.
So far I have been unable to track them down.
Can you please point me in the direction?
    Take care
    Best regards Colin

Hi Colin, yes for some reason they are like gold dust to find in the UK. I had the same problem as you then by chance spotted one so snapped it up. That was some time ago. Cannot remember where from. The only thing I can suggest is to keep looking periodically and you may get lucky. The lid is an excellent addition to the Trangia range, shame it is not readily available. Good luck with your search 👍

@@InfoZhedExplore Thanks for thre reply. Oddly the pan set + lid is calked the Tundra (size as 25 pots) and Mini Tundra (size as 27 pots).
I can send off to Sweden provided I spend €150 min.
      Not likely.
My 25 was £3 charity shop find mid 20's (mine not 1920's) bought the kettle some time later £10 ish; and cut through the windshield to convert to gas.
Oh well I shall keep my fingers crossed for a lucky happy find like your's.
      Thanks again
      Take care

I use a magnet. Just leave it permanently attached to lid of simmer ring. That way you can't lose it. Simples!!

I jumped around a bit hoping to hear how long of burn it does on low/lower flame using the simmer ring?
Oh, like someone wanting to simmer a sauce a long time, well past the wide open flame time of 25 +- minutes.

    • @InfoZhedExplore
      @InfoZhedExplore  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I tend not to worry to much about burn times as there are so many variables, lid on or off, ambient temperature, wind speed, windshield the list goes on. Around 25 minutes is about right for a Trangia without a simmer ring. I start off with a fry off or get my food to boiling then chuck on the simmer ring if needed. Never actually timed just a simmer. Thanks for the input 👍

Well done and shows how to minimize the risk of burning one's fingers. I liked and can relate to the segment, "what happens when it goes horribly wrong?" For me, the bottom line is have a system-or two. For me, the Trangia is stable. Yesterday, I watched my canteen cup slide off of the pocket rocket stove (not the first time). Weight penalty vs. stability/ safety. New subscriber.

Thks & I brought another alcohol stove like the Trangia with only a cap & no simmer ring.
?Is there any lazy man's simmer-ring hack out there?

Hi OXO good grips 60ml mini angled measuring jug. They or something similar can be found in the kitchen section of a lot of stores. They are also sold on Amazon and eBay. Really handy bit of kit for saving fuel. Cannot take any credit for the idea as I stumbled across it on TH-cam. Thanks for the question 👍

You can just leave the remaining alcohol in the Trangia. Let it cool and screw on the lid with the O ring.

I associate the trangia with being a hiking camping device so why anyone would be carrying the weight of any of those things is puzzling to me except maybe the multi tool with its other uses.. Perhaps attaching some sink ball chain is the way to go..
