- Video #36. Welcome to the latest video for my channel @KhonKaenDen. In this video, I drive you around parts of Khon Kaen City, Thailand By NIGHT to music. I show you bars, restaurants, malls, nightlife, shrines and more. For once, there isn't much talking from me! Just a simple way of showing you round to music. I upload videos every two days (one day to record, one to edit), keeping you in touch with just about everything regarding my life in Khon Kaen and Isan (or Issarn) and Thailand life. I cover everything from budgets to speaking Thai and eating (and even making) local dishes to spending quality time with my wife, Beau. I am based in Khon Kaen in rural Thailand but will be travelling further afield and showing you more of Isan over the coming months.

Excellent video seeing KK at night. Some of my best times have been while I was living in KK. I can't really explain the vibe, and why it suits me well, but I look forward to getting back there and experiencing it again.

I loved this one, Den. No wonder you love this city so much. A really good variety of food places, and food. Can`t miss a meal here! And that setup with the big TV in the street, I have never seen that before.. So cool. And the City Pillar Shrine.. Majestic! Btw, don`t worry if your twin brother doesn`t understand you. I agree, it might not be a good idea to clean your car with the wife. She`ll get really wet 😄 Stay the course, you are well underway to 1000 subs! 😊😊
Hi, Sarlina. Apologies for the late reply. Just been away for the weekend recording the next couple of videos. Hope they come out OK. Yeah, KK is a good place and I wanted to showcase it a bit... it's not all just rice fields and silk. Hehe.
Yeah, the big screen has been there for years... and there is another at the lake sometimes too. It is set up by various temples to give back to the community. Great idea and sometimes packed but it was a Sunday and the weather was terrible. I do love that shrine. Not big enough to make a video on it alone but really wanted to show it at some point... it's very central to KK and I pass it almost every day.
Hhaha... yeah, my twin was angry with me! Silly jokes but I like making them sometimes, though none for the next couple of vids (had no time... busy filming other stuff to show you very soon!)
And yeah, on the way to 1000!!! Not bad for a couple of months. Maybe three by the time I get there. Not gonna make millions but getting a little back would be cool.

Hi, John. Yeah, there is a lot to see and do in KK.. but you have to have your eyes open. There is a lot here and it is growing in terms of entertainment for locals and foreigners alike. You are gonna love your time here. Den.

It is actually. Very chilled. Not as busy as some cities but has lots to do for your average single guy, couple or family to enjoy! Same here... I try to still to local stuff as much as I can or I would be broke too haha. Cheers, fella and have a great weekend. Den.

I like the thought of spending time there, however I noticed that numerous retail stores were completely empty. Is thst a normal thing?

You must have been away for quite a while, Hugz has been here for about 8-9 years.
It was very delicious indeed and pretty cheap (less than 100 baht for a big bowl!). And yes... the weather is still quite bad here at the moment, rianing most evenings. Cheers, Den.

Hi I live in buriram with my wife. Our lease is up and we are trying to pick between Khon Kaen and Chiang Mai. How often does it flood there? What would you recommend?
Hi. Many thanks. Hmmm... Khon Kaen city itself doesn't flood that much. There are two notorious areas that do in the city (one I have made a video on and the other is near Central Plaza area). I would say that it is an OK place to settle. If you decide on KK, let me know and I will try to find out if that particular area is known for flooding. For example, places like Baan Phet outside the city floods quite a lot. It is more the rural parts of KK that flood. Where I live, the entrance to estate floods about once every 3 years but only lasts a day and never gets anywhere near my house. Hope this help and let me know if you wish to live in a certain part of KK. Cheers, Den

Thai music would have been better, KK used to have a lot of goof luktung/morlam cafes did not see any here.

I understand what you mean but the point of this video was to showcase the city a little and demonstrate that it isn't a backwards city with nothing going on other than karaoke bars and drinking lao khao... some people think this way and it may deter ome potential retirees or whatever, No idea why. That said, I will be making future videos on the more traditional aspects of Khon Kaen and Isan. Thanks for sharing. Den.
Not been there for over 20 years are there no music cafes left? SInger Yodrak used to have one, and in some hotels. Looks very different now.@@KhonKaenDen
