One other benefit of camping is that you necessarily establish a backup living setup. You have to automatically duplicate certain things like an alternate cooking and sleeping system. You will buy a temporary shelter capable of housing yourself and your family. If you really get into it, you might also buy a portable toilet and shower setup.
All of these things become very practical in the case of a disaster or emergency.
I remember in 2014, there was an 8.2 earthquake in Chile that caused very serious damage. As I watched the news reports come in there were tens of thousands of people milling around helplessly in the streets. Either their homes had been destroyed, or they were afraid to return to them, in case of an aftershock. Yet they interviewed one family who had a tent and were cooking on a camping stove. The reporter wanted to know how they had been so well prepared for this ahead of time? The father replied that the family were avid campers. They hadn't really prepared, they just happened to have all that they needed because they had bought it all for camping.
A word to the wise is sufficient!

I do it to get away from the pressure of other peoples needs. I can focus on my own needs and no one else’s. I don’t have to clean up after anyone else, cook for anyone else other than me, listen to how someone else’s day went. That is why I camp alone, is to escape from all this. The first day or two is hard, then I get into a routine where my focus turns inward then outwards. I typically go to bed early and get up early but still have the stress at home with an endless “to do” list. Camping, shortens that “to do” list to peeing, pooping, eating, sleeping, and doing something interesting other than caring for others. No artificial pressure.
When I camp I have the time to reflect and study nature, learn something new/ancient.

The adjustment also has to do with the resources needed. Instead of just turning on the light you need firewood that you need to collect or oil lamps or candles that you need to carry.
But of course in general I do strongly agree. Camping is certainly very beneficial for your mental health for several reasons. I started doing this 20 years ago and since than I've made at least one overnighter with a tent or hammock once a year.

Honestly my anxiety and depression are really bad, they’ve been bad for over 10 years but now more than ever I need a break, like I need to get out from this sh*t show of a lifestyle we’re accustomed to. I just feel like the woods are calling me.
