I think it was a Chevrolet Monza 2.0 and a Chevrolet Corsa 1.8. I ride those in the back seat, it has a cool punch to it. The Monza once accelerated WOT and I think that was the most punch I felt in a car..
When I was a teenager this friend of ours who was a bit older had this really old Ford Fairlane that he repowered with a fully worked 460 big block, it was a rough old car with a tatty interior, stock suspension and shitty old drum brakes, those old Fairlanes had McPherson strut front suspension the engine bay isn't very wide and this 460 was wedged in there so tight and it had these crazy tuned extractors it wasn't possible to get the two rear sparkplugs out without undoing the engine mounts and lifting the engine. Anyway by fuck did that thing fly it was insane, but it was a big whale of a car bouncing and floating all over the road at high speed and it cornered like a big swaying boat. We would all pile into it stoned as hell on weed and ole John would take us on the craziest country drives and terrorise the bajesus out of us, the speedo went to 120mph and the needle would just zoom past the 120mph mark and only stop when it hit the back of the 0 pin, I have no real idea of the speed it got to, 130 maybe 140mph? A couple of the windows wouldn't wind up so the wind inside the car was crazy the inside roof lining would be flapping and pulling down there would be dust and straw and cigarette butts and crap flying all around and the noise was deafening. I remember being so fucking terrified in that thing but never ever did I turn down a chance to go for a ride in the monster.
I had a 69 fast back Mustang with a 427 Cobra Jet engine in it all beefed up!! Had to put wheelie bars on it because the front end came of the ground relatively easy!! It was a beast ..I had $13000 into it and sold it 4 years later for $65000 at an auction!!!
A friend of mine here in Australia's R34 GTR time attack car... It was effectively a race car, with full aero, a 950hp C.O.M.E Racing engine and a sequential box. It was faster than a V8 Supercar, the Australian touring cars, around the Kwinana track and Sydney International Raceway and was almost as fast around Phillip Island. Difference is, the Skyline had to be street registered for its class. Same dude has a Porsche 718 he's built for time attack and road rallying, which is actually faster around a track. But it just doesn't feel as insane as the GTR did.
