    That little Enduro Trail Stand is the Bomb. I Use it to lube my chain and of course fix flats.

    I live in the pacific northwest and just took my new crf450l in the woods the other day. It's pretty good once you take air out of the tires! Only problem I had was my stock chain got dangerously loose in 100 miles. (Bike has 800 miles). Got a new chain on order.

      Thanks Jose! I am switching from the Motoz Desert HTs in the video to the Motoz Extreme Hybrid tires. I like trying new tires out to see what suits me and my bike.

    Oil change 600mils and Valve every 1800 is what the manual states give all take. So my question is, if u derestricted the bike to get extra horse power and use it as a light adventure bike for road and fire trails would maintenance be still the same or more?. I’m definitely thinking of buying this bike. Thanks 😊

    John - how goes you? Quick question. How do you go with your baggage on the rear? Specifically does it push down at all on the guards and create a heat issue with the exhaust? I'm trying to sort out some lower baggage for the rear and would appreciate a some of your guidance. I've been toying around with the AS side luggage supports... cheers and new content please 😂

      It does push on and wear the plastics a bit, bit it works well in a crash and doesn.t seem to actually break anything. I tried the AS things for a bit but found they didn't actually offer any support outwards to keep the luggage off the bike. I've been thru some changes this year, so ya, sorry for the lack of new videos. I'm trying, and thanks for watching.

      I make it squeaky clean before each ride. I've never had it clog up during a ride so I had to clean it.

      Thanks Sean. The Desert HTs are brilliant in the rocky sandy dry desert. Not so much on the road . The rear is by far the better of the pair. I do not recommend the front for anything other than desert hauling. Review to follow.

    Hi John, good timing to see this one , just started piecing together my roadside oil change kit. One thing didn’t hear was what you drain your oil into when your oil changing out on the road? You carry a bulky nalgene for that? Cheers great vid ;)

      One of these days I'll make a perfect video where I answer ALL the questions. Not today, however. I usually either buy a drink and use the container(s) or pull a container out of the trash somewhere. Then find a helpful garage who'll take your tiny liter of oil and add it to their own.

      Have you ever tried using a freezer bag? I was thinking of trying that for my old oil so I could just pack a couple of freezer bags in my oil change kit with minimal space.

      Without a doubt. I tried to stay generic on all the gear and whatnot so this video could apply to any bike, really.

    Hope if I brake down your around lol. Have you used a hammock i have one and love it pacs so small .I ran into a black bear and cub on my last camp trip while riding do you have bear spray or any small pistol for noise maker or something.

      Break down in Snowmass / Aspen and I'll be there for sure! I have tried hammocks on and off, but I sleep on my side, and only on my side, so hammocks are always torture chambers for me. There are more bears than people around here and I have never had a problem with one. I go my way, they go theirs. I suppose if I had to I could take his picture in unflattering light... that might make him go away. ?

    Thanks for an other great review! Do you have any frame support on the left side for the reckless 80? I am just ready to taking off a long trip. The bending of the left plastics and fuse Box scears me! Did you have any issues with that? Thanks for your support👌

      So the panel is ok, but the bottom of the reckless can come close to hitting you chain. That chews into bag a little. I added some padding to the inside of the reckless where it lays over the panel to push it out a little. But again, if you get it all on there correctly and lined up and right it’ll be fine. Any bag bouncing a d moving over any plastic is going to rub. That’s why plastic sets are cheap.

      @@JohnTYoung Good to know. Thats what I was thinking of. I was concerned breaking the Fusebox in case of a side crash. Did a full loaded test ride this afternoon. This bike is a blast! Did you do anything on the Exhaust side to prevent burning the plastics? It looks like there get pulled close to the exhaust?

      @@MrBenfru I added two shields to the muffler. One to keep the panel pushed away and the other to keep the bags off the exposed part of the muffler. The bags will try to push the panel into the muffler.

      @@JohnTYoung Thanks for your support. I put on a small tool Tube on the left. Get blocked under the Scaggs and it pushes the left bag perfekt outside.I also put under the plastics an Alu profile. It is really stable now...perfect.

      I have a 3L bladder in my back pack and I have another 3L bladder I carry in my bags. I hate to cook so usually I do freeze dried or cold camp and eat bars. There’s always a town somewhere along the route or you’d run out of gas. And where there’s gas there’s food. Mostly.

I guess my assumption was missing this was a gear loadout for this trip, not a general gear loadout/procedures.

      It's buried in there somewhere. I don't take a ton of technical first aid gear. Some gauze and a bunch of cloth tape can fix most field fixable issues, or hold your parts together till a medic can haul you out. Everything thing else is band-aids and Aleve for ouchies.

      What's in a first aid kit that's gonna save your bacon? Nrs strap x2, a Tshirt and some tape. Little bottle of narcotics. That will save your bacon. 39 years of back country mayham. No first aid kit required.
