This video should be presented in every classroom in Canada every year to remind our country about the great job grain farmers are doing for the environment and the nation.
Fantastic idea
Agreed, unfortunately kids seem more interested in the kardasians and school divisions lack common sense when it comes to curriculum.
@@ronaldaldred6705 I used to get a show called Prairie Farm Report. I haven’t seen it in quite a while and don’t know if it’s on anymore. I think Quick’s videos would make great television viewing; swearing and all!
What are the chemicals ?
Impromptu herbicide? I can not hear it clearly.
Thank-you, farmers, for the food on our tables.
I especially loved seeing the young ones are still an important part of farming. Couldn't do it without them for long. Farm kids are amazing!
This should be shown in high schools everywhere.
Couldn’t agree more
No..Farmers..No..Food..Period..Great video 👍
A new QDM VIDEO! gonna be a good day!
You are the man when i have a sandwich later i will be thinking of all the work that went in to getting the wheat oh ya and blueball too awesome video
Good morning from the sunny south Okanagan, thanks for the video. This one should be mandatory viewing with a test afterwards for anyone running for public office in Canada. All the best for the rest of the harvest season QDM and good luck this hunting season.
That was really informative. Thanks to all the farmer and God for His bounty
Thanks farmers for all you do.
Another brilliant QDM production.
This one of, if not the most, informative farming videos I have ever seen! You explained a lot of information in just a few minutes. One of my favorite scene was you showing how big an acre was.
GREAT VIDEO
THANK YOU1!!
Wow, thanks!
They don't miss you until they're hungry 😂
I loved watching the Whappin, if only our ancestors could see it, they would be amazed.
I once saw a bumper sticker that read "If you can read this thank a teacher" I saw another that read' If you ate something today thank a farmer" THANK YOU.
I am so glad that we have people like Quick Dick to show us what is involved in feeding the world! Awesome channel!
And this is why we LOVE OUR FARMERS !
You make me proud to be Canadian. 💕
Same here and live in Ontario! Cut the Carbon tax 😠 ! Give the farmers a break 😡!!
@@mikewatts1450 could not agree more!! I live in BC… which is super corrupted by the NDP.
Love it!! Wish everyone knew the process, respect for the land, crops, and how little goes to support the hugely capital intensive job of farming!
Wait! You mean that doesn't happen in the back of your local grocery store 😂😂😂
+$4/loaf here.
THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO, QDM.
👍🇨🇦💪
Quick Dick, you are one hell of a farmer! I am down here in Michigan. I do like your supporting Saskatchewan the way you do you make a person proud. Good luck with the rest of your harvest. God bless! 🇨🇦 🇺🇸
QDM, TY for cheering me up with every second of this video. U R the goat, greatest of all time!
I could just see Galen Weston watching this and saying, “ 3% to the farmers?!… I gotta jack those prices up. “
Driving through these beautiful Prairies with a full heart looking out over these beautiful fields and big sky. Thankful to every farmer for all you do.❤
Anyone that says that you soak your grain in chemicals has never run a business and/or does not understand the purpose of a commercial operation. The idea of a commercial operation is to make money. In your case, the less chemicals that you need to buy and use the more money you can make. Using LESS is your motivation, not using more DUH.
PS Thanks for that bread I ate at breakfast :)
Canadian farmers feed the world!!
Thank you for all the work you and your army of a team do. I might be an island kid from B.C., but I was educated from a young age to understand where food comes from, and how much work it is. Thank you, farmers!
Amazing Farmers' They Feed The World. ❤Thanks For All Your Hard Work 🙏❤️🙏
Great video and education! The wacko Env minister could learn a few things !!
Hi qdm, we were doing wheat around wolseley Saskatchewan Saturday but got rained out. You guys run a very similar operation with two 9770s one yellow topper one black just like us. I'm 12 so I think I fall into the youngster category but I love farming.
Excellent Video Quick. I wish more city folk would watch your videos. I know city people that think eggs just come from the grocery store. They have no idea where most of their food comes from or how it gets there.
This video should be mandatory viewing for every member of the federal government
they would be unable to process this information
Exactly 😂@@justincase2830
The two smells I love are freshly turned dirt in the spring and wheat being harvested in the fall! Just can't get rid of the old Saskatchewan farm boy!
Haven't done harvest in over 25 years! Nothing like driving a 74 GMC 3ton and taking grain on the fly, especially at night!
Well done QD! Common sense has become a super power so an explanation this good will go a long way!
As usual full of information, education and humorous attitude. Thank you and may your bins overflow with bounty from the land and your labour!!!
Farmers are getting screwed. Getting any subsidies? Besides the ones we all get, or just a hassle from people that think they know something? Good day all, God bless. Great video QD
Well said. I hope the whiny lefties learned something.
Hey youtube. This channel is awesome
That's what I call efficiency. If only you guys had more storage facilities, you wouldn't be pushed around as far as the price per bushel goes. The more storage capacity, the more power in the hands of the wheat growers.
Awesome video!!! Really enjoyed the in-depth look at the input and out put. Very informative. Great work!
Great video. Yes all the wheels turn at harvest time. Get er done and in the bin. Love ya QDM.
Great information, QD!! Here's hoping that many people see the value of supporting our farmers in getting good food to their tables. The farmer never makes much profit unfortunately!! Stay with it my friend and good luck with the harvest activities!! (Big flat tire = Big hammer) 😀
There, I already learned something today...thank you for the eye opening math sir...and feeding me haha.
Lived on an acreage in dundurn sk for three years after moving from the east. Honestly never appreciated the scope and scale of the hard work that people like you do everyday to put food on the world's table. Appreciate having the opportunity to have a chance to meet some of the hardest working and nicest people you could possibly meet
I always enjoyed trucking through Saskatchewan during harvesting day or night. Always an inspiration of people doing their part of feeding us. Really good demonstration of of what goes into a loave of bread. Hey Blue Ball & New Ball.
Shout out to all of you great food providers.
From the editing...love the drone shots with the combine flashing lights* to the content and message , this is an awesome video. I hope many more people take a look at this to learn about this very subject. QDM you keep doing what you are doing, it is so important to hammer these points home in the way you do. Love your stuff, be safe and be well....fan from Ontario!
Thanks so much!!
As always great informative video👍🏻
Best real world math explanation I've seen in a long time. Well done 👏
Glad it was helpful!
Nothing more memorizing than watching wheat feed into the combine
Brings back memories of on the farm with my grandfather when I was kid on pei!!!
Your information packed videos are the most educational things we can be gifted covering farmers and ranchers trying to feed everyone.
Thank You very much Quick.
Best Wishes to You, Your Family and Friends.
That abandoned farm house in the middle of the field is intriguing. At one time that was someone's hopes and dreams, and now it is slowly returning to the earth. I would love to hear the story of that old house.
Just like everything made by man. My 40 acres started off as a pine forest 35 years ago. I logged it and cleared it and raised cattle on it. Now I’m 70 yo and can’t keep it mowed and hayed like I used to. So, it’s turning back to a pine forest again. Mother Nature ALWAYS wins.
Thanks for growing my food, QDM!
This has been the best video ever. More people need to see this, you explained farming very well. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
That’s why I love your videos!
I just learned something that I had no idea about.
Oh and the chemicals are added at the bakery, preservatives, glucose, etc.
Goes to show that people take you guys, farmers that is for granted and we shouldn’t.
All the best to you and your family QD!
Saskatchewan - feeds this country. Drove from Moose Jaw to Watrous in August. The crops to my unpracticed eye were lush. Army of people to harvest is correct.
Bread and Beer = SASKATCHEWAN!!! GOOD VIDEO!!!
I'll bet that old Homestead could tell some stories
Well done! This should be shown in all Canadian Schools.
It doesn't get any simpler than no farmers no food, no matter what the government says.
Great video QDM- You explain that, easy enough that John Q Public can understand- happy harvest
Just an awesome explanation 👍👍
Glad you liked it
@@QuickDickMcDick I like the idea of unloading on the go from the combine into a truck instead of unloading on the go from the combine into a cart.
There would be less grain augering without a cart which would result in less fines in the grain, less manpower required, less fuel used, less wear on machinery and higher profits.
There is more ground being compacted because of running back with the cart to the truck than there would be if the truck was running alongside the combine and unloading on the go into the truck. In other words, there are more grain cart tracks left in the field than there would be with a truck unloading on the go into it directly from the combine.
Green chopped corn forage silage is heavy and it is loaded into semis while the harvester continues to cut and there is never a mention of compaction.
Potatoes, sugar beet and various vegetable crops are unloaded on the go from the harvesters directly into semis and no one worries about compaction.
Check out this video of wheat harvesting and unloading directly into a semi trailer. 2024 crop report - Box Elder
Fantastic video. Thanks
Glad you liked it!
I grew up on a farm near Drumheller Alberta and my favorite time of year was harvest. I thought it was magical to be out harvesting late in the night with clear skies and a full moon.
I am so proud to be from this amazing province. The progress they have in safe sustainable growing practices is just amazing. Thank you farmers.
I'm proud to be part of it too!
You are doing a wonderful job, especially measuring out on video the size of an acre of land.Wonderful material for the kids for schooling. Gaston
Thanks Gaston! That's exactly what I was going for!
OH soooo beautiful.
You put on a good show.
Roll on...
:)
A modern glimpse on, 10,000+ years of human agriculture evolution, utensils, tools, animal assisted mechanization, steam power, ICE powered, specialised equipment human designed, built, operated, from land preparation & animals were and are vitaly necessary,... planting, nurturing, monitoring, harvesting, storing, milling, ... through to foods on tables.
Thank you QDM🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😅❤
A lot more to this than i realized being from a fish and lobster province western nova scotia very educational
LOVE THIS!!!! Thanks for showing the world how their loaf of bread makes it to the grocer’s shelves. Most believe it just magically appears. Thanks QDM for this awesome video!
You are so welcome!
I was hoping to see old fashion supper taken to the field to feed the crew!! Favorite time of year and great memories taking meals to the field! Everything tasted better outside sitting on a straw bale eating supper in field!
From a Aussie to a Canadian you and peg from zip ties are true legends, love your content keep up the good work and I'll keep on watching
The best part of harvest for me was getting pulled out of school! There were 11 of us kids so the girls(except me)were cooking and delivering the meals and the rest of us would go out in shifts and get r done! I tried the combine and failed miserably! I was the grain hauler. I think i liked it because back in my day there were no cabs on the combines and the truck was a whole lot warmer. And for some strange reason i seemed to be the only one who could start up the bastard auger we had..fun times!
I agree with an earlier comment. Your content should be taught in schools to teach children how getting close to the ground ends up on our plates. Just maybe we wouldn’t need to be over taxed to death and would actually have intelligent people looking out for our future needs. Thanks for always being on top. Now pop that top and wet your whistle. 🍻
This kind of education is the only way we might create a generation with some integrity, heart and understanding. The last couple of generations are pretty much useless unless you look at the farms, there they are still real people, even if they are 15, 25 or 85- they're normal, hardworking and know the value of what they can produce and why they get up in the morning. God bless farmers! and ranchers, lets not forget them.
Thanks QDM for educating ppl who possibly stumbled on this video. Everyone needs to see this, the math doesn’t lie!! ❤ Canadian farmers ❤️
Just love your channel, always very interesting and informative! You also make me laugh and make my day!😂😂😂
Thanks so much!
processing, milling, baking, transportation and of course TAXES make up the difference between the $7 / Bushel farmers earn... and the $2.50 per loaf in the grocery stores... think about how much cheaper food would be without TAXES
PLus only the cheapest bread sells for $2.50
& How much without all the Mark Up!! Fck the taxes... depending on the province some don't charge taxes
Buddy taxes provide public services. Get a grip.
Awesome; thanks for all you good folks do to keep us fed!
VERY well done QD. Thanks for the explanation. Hope harvest went well!
Thanks to our farmers for feeding us and some of the world, you guys deserve more but I also know you love your land and take pride in what you do.
I remember letting the teachers know i had to go home at noon to help with harvest they just smiled..... one of my favorite times of year, not as much fun now having to pay all the bills but still rewarding. Thanks for taking the time to make a great video.
QD, that is the Best explanation of the Amount of Chemicals used on a crop per Acre, I have seen. Good work.
Thanks 👍
Been off the farm for many years. If I remember rightly, the best we got was 55 bushels/acre back in the 1980's. No fertiliser and maybe some 24D. But, we did lots of summer fallowing to keep that pesky Canada Thistle down. And I picked stones by hand. Dad really pissed me off when I graduated high school: he bought a grain vac and a stone picker.
The same, but when I look at the number of young people today who lack a sense of purpose, my parents' move seems genius to me now.
@@markweisberg332 I had two brothers, both bigger than me, coming up and I tease them to this day.
@@markweisberg332 I can still shovel snow faster than a snow blower.
Brought back great memories. Such a great feeling of accomplishment when the wheat is in the bin. Thank you very much.
Yep!! Gonna be a good day. I got invigerated by a QDM video!!
Quick, you are an Amazing educator. Great job on the videos, as usual. Thanks.
Very informative QDM
Getter in the bin Boys ! Thanks for the vid, I could almost smell the dust 😂
Thanks for educating us! Great video.
Another great video, Thanks. F. J. T.
Another great Gapper video!
Good to see that no one tried to associate while you were down south there eh bud.🤣🤣
Excellent explanation. Thanks QDM. Hey, Galen Weston: Get Stuffed!
Well said. Greetings from Berta. Great looking wheat crop. Happy for you!
I loved this video. So much knowledge in just a few minutes.
So glad!
Informative as always. Really great vid you put out Quick, shows us city folk just how its done and all the work involved.
Great education, well done
Thank you!
Great video QDM
Honest people doing honest work.
Love your videos great job and keep it coming thank you
Absolutely brilliant explanation of wheat growing well done and good luck with the rest of your harvest
Thank you kindly
Hey Quick I see you got blue ball in the Canadian antique truck calendar even before the polish job. Nicely done young fella!
