My wife and I honeymooned in Yosemite in 1965, quite a few yrs. ago, with a tent. We actually had time to do some hiking. Yosemite remains a special place for us. We live about 80 miles from the park so we get there often for day hikes. We are 75 and 76 yrs. old now. Love your videos. I actually don't have much time for T V anymore, since I discovered Utube.

Beautiful back country! You could probably say you hiked the PCT 2 times at one time lol. What I mean is all of the times you put the camera down and then go back to get it 😊. Your videos are amazing! Great job Darwin! 👍🏻👏🏻🎒😃

Loved seeing you use your water filter. As someone yet to do a through hike it’s great to see a mix of the stunning beauty and every so often a bit of footage of how you manage the the hiking/survival process also.
    Your travels are an inspiration!

You are a great story teller. One thing I really appreciate, besides the most excellent photography, is how nicely edited your videos are: pace, flow, soundtrack, shots...it's all there. Keep 'em coming!

Here I am sitting in my recliner enjoying your hike, the beautiful sky and mountain peaks while your setting up cameras, ford streams, tending scrapes, bruises and swatting bugs. The least I can do is hit you a like and leave a comment. Thanks so VERY much for sharing.

These videos are as good as any National Geographic documentary. You guys should be getting paid the big bucks. Great job on the editing too! -- Saw this quote today and thought of ya'll: "The most dangerous risk of all is the risk of spending your life not doing what you want on the bet that you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later." I admire you guys living for today and always in the moment.. Happy Anniversary Darwin and Snuggles!

This amazing! Thank you again for all of your work to produce these amazing videos and information sources. They are part of my daily watching to inspire me to keep on my diet. One day, I will hike the AT! But first, I must get better in shape.

Just do it! Don't wait until you're "in shape". It's like they say about having kids. If you wait until you're ready, you'll never actually do it.

I understand what you are saying, but for health reasons, I need to lose a lot of weight first. I need to get below 300 at least, which is at this point 120 pounds away. I have lost 40 so far in two months.

I hear ya. I also want to do the AT and I am building my trail legs up now with smaller treks. I am using the trails to lose weight and let me tell ya being a little heavy you burn cals like crazy. I went for an 8 mile trek and burned up 6k in cals! Just keep up the good work and we will both make it there one day!

Those last 200 miles were the JMT - the crown of t he Sierra -- which actually extend a bit further north, as you will still see lots of granite around Lake Tahoe s you go through Desolation and a bit further north. Glad you got through the snow, and icy water ok. (except for some scrapes). Happy Trails.

Hi Darwin, I love your channel and subbed, We (wife and I)are following the complete series of the PCT trail, love it!!! We were allready was 2 times in the US and loved the national parks, this year we will do some more. In the video you were eaten by mosquitos, the Scandinavian have a wonderfull product for this "Becks Ölje", some pine tar derivat and I tested it in Scotland against the dredded "midge"s" and worked fantastic! Kind regards from the Belgian Ardennes, Yves.

Awesome videos, but yeah, the Sierra Nevada extend quite a ways further than Sonora. I believe Lassen is the first of the Cascade mountains and the Sierra extend all the way up to there. Tahoe National Forest is my current stomping grounds, and it is certainly part of the Sierra Nevada. It's really cool seeing you hike past places I've been from San Jacinto and San Gorgonio in Southern California, to Sequoia and Yosemite in Central California, and beyond. I hope to connect all the dots one day. Thanks for sharing!

Confused by statements that Sierra is almost done. To my way of thinking they go completely up into Northern California.
Anyway, enjoy your videos. They especially make me reminisce about my 50 mile hikes down around Yellowstone in the 1960's. You could go a week back then and not see any other hikers. Beautiful. Lords Meadows one of my favorite places anywhere. Was at Dorothy Lake in 1967 last.

I did a 3 day out-and-back hike from Tuolumne to Glen Aulin, which was a blast. Lovely scenery and it was so beautiful out in the Yosemite back country. Definitely a huge step up from the valley area which is a total disaster. No crowds, just you and nature. I'll definitely plan to do it again.

One of my CNOC poles broke on my first day back on the AT this year. Not even a much of a slip. I'm a light guy, so I was surprised at how easy it is to snap these poles. I also get a little frustrated getting the Sawyer squeeze to seal on the CNOC water bag. The designs are clever, but perhaps not quite trail hardened yet.

By Tahoe there's still Dicks Pass (9300' or 9400'), still going to be at an average of 8000' with plenty of vertical gain/loss. The Sierra Buttes, Middle and North Fork of Feather River are a beautiful pain as well. Definitely still the Sierras. haha. Ya, I'm up in Reno, Cali smoke always settles in up here. Luckly this time wasn't too bad.

Love your travels, really enjoying your PCT adventure. In this video you kept saying Sonora Pass was the end of the Sierras, however, the northernmost end is probably more appropriately a bit north of the Feather River along Chips Creek. At the very least, north of Lake Tahoe. Or is Sonora Pass more of a PCT thru-hikers designation for the end of the Sierra Nevada? Just wondering, that had be a bit confused as I watched. In any case, love it, hope your tailbone is healing well!

Hey what about using "one single piece aluminium poles"... like the first ones of Rossignol previously the invention of the 4 pieces ones... I bought hi speed curved aluminium ski poles because that shape and material provides the suspension needed not to stress your hands and arms, and because I heard talking about the NORDIC WALKING POLES. And well yes, in one hand you lose the chance to shorten them, but in the other hand you win in sturdiness... other ways you can stuff them inside with tent pegs, medical supplies, matches (keeping them dry), cord, fishing gear... and all the supplies that can fit into the pipe. Have to say that survival hiking stick inspired me a lot...

well at least now I don't feel bad about the poles I've broken. I thought it was just an affliction I had! Trek on!!

Love your vids and I am totally addicted to watching them. I am a plus size trekker and have a fire now for getting healthy by walking trails. How do you deal with all of the water crossings with feet being wet for long periods?
