I really enjoyed this episode. Hockey has such a rich history…..I’d love an episode about the various league awards and why they are named as they are.

Hockey is just the best sport. Even with the Caps out, I think the Panthers-Oilers match up is an interesting final.
I can't say I remember the 70s Capitals as I became a Caps fan in '82 around the time of the Save the Caps campaign. Before that, I was a NY Rangers fan when I lived up in NY.
The Caps of course turned it around with the trade that brought Langway, Engblom, Jarvis, and Laughlin to the Caps. That and having Bryan Murray as head coach made them a perennial playoff team. Ovi is clearly the most important player in team history. I think that Langway is clearly second. His leadership and how good they were defensively gave them a team identity and made them tough to play against. If that trade had not been made, I have to wonder if they would be in Washington now. However, the team was very frustrating in the playoffs with annual early exits. I think some of this was Abe Pollin not being able or willing to spend past a certain level. Still, there are a lot of memories from that era. In any case, I'm looking forward and LETS GO CAPS!!
