I might be partial but Pekka Rinne being selected almost dead last in his draft is insane as he was the backbone of a franchise that struggled for so long but was always a defensive powerhouse mainly because he was always solid. He's for sure a future hall of famer and worked his way up to be the winingest finnish goaltender to ever play the game.

He is still the best player to ever play for them, maybe Saros will claim that spot one day if he keeps up his stellar play so far through his career or even improves,i am sure he will win the vezina at some point at least once, and teams that did not want him because of his size will regret it for a long time, hopefully he has proven that goalies under 6 feet can be franchise level goalies and other great undersized goalies will be judged by talent and not by size

My best Doug Gilmore memory was during a broadcast from Detroit. They were talking about the new glass mics bringing "the sounds of the game". It was the first game they were being used. At some point there was a stoppage in play behind the net and the mics kicked in. Not only could you see Gerard Gallant yelling at Golmore but you could now here him too. ""Gilmore you little c*cksicker" was clearly heard from Gallant. That was the last game those mics were used.

It wasn't that nobody wanted Datsyuk. It was that he played in such a remote part of Russia that very few people knew about him. As it happens the Redwings scout that found Datsyuk wasn't even there to see him specifically. He was so impressed during that game that Datsyuk had the puck on his stick every time he was on the ice he talked him up to the Redwings draft staff. The scout himself almost didn't make it the the game as there was a serious storm just before his flight.

Now the reason WHY the Hawks traded Hasek is it's own video... It was very possible if the Hawks coughed up $5,000,000 then Hasek would have stayed a Hawk - not only that but the Hawks win the Eric Lindros sweepstakes... The truth is that the Hawks could have been a dynasty in the 90's and the only reason why they weren't was because $5 million dollars and a terrible greedy owner. And few even know this... And there is no "if's" that would have happened - I don't know about the dynasty part but Hasek and Lindros absolutely.

dont hold me to it. But i think the Hull story. His draft stock fell because He didnt make the U18 or U21 World Junior Canada team......and having a bad attitude....he opted to play for Team USA......and then after that he just had a chip on his shoulder and didnt want to play for team canada, or in a canadian market. Hence why he always played for Team USA
