For me, one of the greatest role playing games ever. I spent hours upon hours roaming those dungeons and hallways. My system was always on since you couldn't pause the game. Atmospheric and creepy at the same time. A masterpiece.
My cousin and I would play this as a two player game. I would 'drive' the character and my cousin would manipulate the buttons. We are both very, very successful in the real world.
This game was released when I was in college. To me, it was the first great console RPG. I played it (too much) at the time and love it to this day. There is a depth to the game that can only be appreciated by playing it. Just keep the manual handy as there is far too much information to learn/guess without it - and be prepared to leave the console powered on for days due to length of time it takes to play. Awesome video!
My dad was really into this game. I remember he used to let me finish hard mode by warping through walls with a book and throwing a spear at the Minotaur.
When I ran into the Minotaur I nearly had a heart attack! Just goes to show how much imagination one needed to augment these excellent games. Something that lacks today. Thanks for the video!
Such a great follow up game to the first one, but like you said its much more complex. I always felt like I was lost..lol It would have been cool if there was a 3rd official game that blended the 2 games together.
Tower of Doom, the unofficial third game, looks like it might combine the two, but I haven't really tried it out yet. Before this review, I never seriously played Tarmin, just kinda messed around instead. And yes, I got lost and died quickly, lol
This looks really cool! My grandparents did have an Intellivision back in the day, but they didn't have any of the AD&D games (understandably). I am a pretty big Bard's Tale fan, but I think the graphics on this game are a lot less disorienting. I found it a lot easier to track which way you were moving and the details of the surroundings.
Was soooo hard to get this in Austria back in 1982. Finally got it and it was absolutely awesome. Still have 2 originals of this (and Crown of Kings/ cloudy mountain). Played it on a B/W Tv as i had no colour tv my own :) This was absolute magic. Cant forget. Maybe they do a revamp if the Amico ever appears.
One of my favorite Intellivision games. I actually played all the way down to level 256 once. It took several days of leaving the system on :-) And then back to level 1 where you were so strong that nothing could stop you HAHA.
This game is amazing considering when it was released. Intellivision also had Advanced Dungeon and Dragons (2D Version). These games came out in 1982 and what's crazy is IMO they are much better then the NES version released in 1988 (Heroes of the Lance). Intellivision's controller is well suited for this style of play with the hot keys shortcuts instead of the dreaded NES Gamepad for RPG's.
Fun game! My favorite game for the 'telli Use your glance buttons to see around corners then get the right weapon for the right enemy! The amount of variety in this game is staggering; the backpack layout and different spells/weapons in this was brilliantly designed!
If get to the Minotaur and don't kill him, or if you do, and don't take the treasure, and go down another ladder you eventually get to a point where there are multiple Minotaurs around you. Until you take the treasure and stop going down ladders, the game never ends. Once you go beyond the levels on the map at the beginning of the game, you can't see where you are or where the Minotaur(s) are at. The magic books that allow you to see through walls really helps you see where the Minotaur(s) are. But I just repeated what he said. I was commenting from my own playing the game. Lock & Chase, Burgertime, and Shark Shark are among my favorites too
Just about all I could ask for in a review of the first rpg I ever layer my hands on. Great! I remember many late nights push through the tower and coming to grips what strategies kept me alive. Also, great point about bypassing the minotaur and continuing. I believe I actually had several minotaur under my belt one night and just seeing how much treasure I could collect. Such a fun experience from way back when.
This was my favorite game. After a time you may punch holes in the overlay. Once you kill the minitaur you leave the treasure but the game makes you get it by putting the minitaur around every corner.
I just got this one in the mail today. Of course I had to come and rewatch this video! It seems like a fun game so far. You get used to the item swapping with some practice.
I remember when I played one time that I went so far down that Every Monster on the level was the Minotaur. Guess they really wanted you to stop playing XD
This game was so ahead of it's time. I remember playing it with my buddy back in the day.

Without a doubt, I played it at that time and we had a lot of fun, I know where ID software got its inspiration from.
This was an amazing game for its time absolutely loved it as a kid almost had a heart attack the first time I ran into the monitor.

Wow! I never even knew the Intellivision had this type of game! I would have been into this as a kids. Great video!

Something that lacks today.
Thanks for the video!
This may have been my favorite Intellivision game. I would play for hours.

I played the hell out of this game as a kid. I still play it on the Intellivision Flashback and have just as much fun with it today as I did then.

I had no clue this game was so deep. I had it when I was 10 so I just roamed. LOL
When I was a kid, I played this at my cousins house. I had no idea what I was doing. I too would roam, pick up stuff, and die pretty quickly, lol.

I believe these days they would call it "roguelike", lol! 😉
amazing game back then, still plays great today. a masterpiece.

Big like from Old Nerd 👍 keep it up 👍
This was quite a game for it's time! Good video!

You should have way more subscribers. Your in-depth reviews have helped me time and time again!
I will have to try this , but I am glad that Thunder Castle is still your number one . That game is amazing . I love it !!!!

Sort of like Dungeon Master amazingly.
One of my faves of all time!
I would like to see a review of Swords and Serpants by Imagic for this system. That game is pretty good.
