Your installation videos are seriously top tier! I love how you are considerate of explaining in detail certain steps so that those of us still learning can have a better understanding. I’ve been saving up for a Honda Rebel 1100 DCT and your vids have been such a great help and so informative for when I mod it! Which also- side note: one of the first mods I want to do is install the HTC adjustable handlebars by @heliboy and they provide an extension cable for the brake line. Just so I understand you correctly, what you’re explaining in the vid is you can just order a longer cable from Spielgler and omit having to use the extension? Appreciate you so much and just subscribed! 🤟🤙
Hi Ashley!!! Thank you for your kind words and i'm so happy to hear that you find the videos helpful!! You will not be disappointed with the helibars, smart choice!! Yes, we now have the option of just getting the right length top cable to fit the different size risers, we no longer have to mess with rerouting the front OEM brake line, or mess around with a brake line extension!! I wish they had made these a few years ago!!

I bought one even though i don't think i need it. Just to support quality manufacturing of custom parts for the rebel. Sucks to have to rely on Burly Brand, questionable foreign companies, or jerry rigging your own set up (like you did with your suspension). Thank you for bringing this company/part into my radar!
Hi Ben, I sincerely appreciate it man, I've found a lot of difficulty convincing companies to develop parts specifically for the rebel 1100, even though it took a little over 2 months to develop these lines, I was willing to wait. Spiegler have been awesome throughout the process with a couple of different trials and errors, they stayed the course until the line fit perfectly! Thank you Ben, this will help with other projects to show companies that it's worth their time to develop aftermarket parts for the rebel 1100 community! 🍻
Not First but definitely not last! Lol great video dude. Love how you edit stuff! So clean and very clear on what you are talking about and doing. Can't wait for the next one!
Hi Gus, another great video:):):). Before I have seen the last part of your video I was wondering why to change it......... But definitelly good idea. I also remember on my Rebel I had so "soft" brakes. I totally agree with you. When I saw your video I went to check what hoses do I have on my bike and I have reinforced ones so this problem is already solved for me :). I have one comment - I saw nice metal surface of your new hoses, which really looks great. But If I would do that on my bike I would bend those part, which goes above your front fender by electric tape or maybe heat shrinking electrician protection becouse I think those metal surface will not be so friendly to surface of fender....... I do not know if I saw that correctly, but I saw there touch....Other parts are fine and it looks amazing..... Perfect video, better than producers manual :)
Hi Miro!! So good to hear from you brother! Remember our conversation about the BMW bike i rented, it had amazing front brakes, it comes standard with steel braided lines, I was certain that yours had them, most high end bikes come with steel braided lines. The video is deceiving brother, the new line has a soft clear plastic covering so the metal isn't exposed, i opened up the zip tie to try to keep it off the fender, that's why i added the note afterwards. Always good to hear from you bro!

Hi Gus, the front brake on my Rebel isn't spongy like in your demo. I wonder if you have an air bubble somewhere. You may never know since you have replaced all of the brake fluid.
Hi James, if you squeeze your brake lever hard enough, you will see the same results as mine. I assure you that i replace and bleed my brakes often and they are at their best, but that's just it, that's their best, Clearly they work and have been working for 4 years, they've served me well for 32,000 miles, i've even taken the bike on the track with the OEM brakes. The steel braided lines are an improvement, the illustrations in the video are to have a visual reference for riders that may not know these things.
@@ontherebel11 Your bike cannot be older than three years. 2024-2021=3. Anyway, changing your brake fluid as often as you say always leaves the possibility of leaving an air bubble either in the master, caliper or line. Do you "tap" on the master or caliper as you are doing the bleed? There is always a possibility of leaving small bubbles sticking to these due to surface tension.
I noticed it looks like you have multiple risers on your bars in this video. Or is that just a 4 inch risers? By the way, great videos you have been a big help.
@@ontherebel11 I installed the 2 inch rox risers after watching your videos about it a while back, I just didn’t realize you combined the 2”&4” together. that’s awesome
@Motocampster it's been quite a journey brother..... I started off with 3 in risers, then 4 and finally 6. I enjoy touring so I needed to ride completely upright. I recently added a backrest which I will be doing a video about, makes a big difference if you like going for all day rides 🤙
The bleeding procedure you use here is the same as on a non-ABS brake system. Don't you have to do something different to make sure there aren't air bubbles in the line to the ABS modulator?
The bleeding procedure for ABS and non ABS equipped bike is the same procedure, unless it is a complicated bike such as some of the high end European bikes that require scanner tools and so on to work on the bike. Disclaimer: I am not a trained mechanic, it is safer to have a motorcycle serviced at the dealership.
Hi Gus, aren't the OEM brake lines braided stainless steel under the rubber? I bought new break lines for my Valkyrie and they are braded stainless mesh under the rubber housing. This keeps dirt an grime from accumulating on the line. By the way, the old brake lines on my Valkyrie are 27 years old with no cracks in the rubber and no leaks. I just bought new ones for no real reason besides, just in case. I suppose that if you want the aesthetics of the exposed stainless mesh, that is fine but grime accumulation may be an issue.
@@ontherebel11 Granted, the Valkyrie is in a league of it's own. However, the only thing similar to the Gold Wing is the block and gear box. The Valkyrie has "full raise" cams, solid lifters, six carbs vs 2, different rear gear box and on and on. However, regarding the brake lines on the Rebel, after you change them out, could you cut one open to see for sure it is not braided? To me, it only makes sense to have braided brake lines for the extra reinforcement so as to handle the extreme pressure of emergency braking.

Do you have the measurement for the stock brake hose? I’m looking to replace mine with Hel branded steel brake hoses but I can’t seem to find the stock brake hose length.
Hi Gus, I agree with you to a large extent in your opinion, but your claim that the brake hose is only made of rubber is not true. The fact that you can cut the 'old brake hose' with the knife is because the hose is reinforced with Teflon and Kevlar to keep the hose flexible. A brake hose cannot age that much in 3, 4 years. If you can squeeze your brake lever so far that it almost touches your handlebars, then it is time to bleed the whole thing, because then something is really wrong. With all due respect, but I do not think Honda will install brake lines that are not safe. If you only look at the appearance, it is fun to install colored hoses or whatever, but do not claim that the hoses are already worn out after a few years.
Hi Peter, Thank you for your comment!!! Clearly i need to work on my presentation and communication skills. The point i was trying to make is that one line has steel surrounding it while the other didn't.
