- An Alabama police officer who stood at attention during a rainstorm to honor a deceased World War II soldier says he simply wanted to recognize a fellow veteran from a small town. Mount Vernon police officer Newman Brazier got out of his police car and stood at attention as the funeral procession of Robert Lee Serling entered the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort on Monday. Serling fought in the Pacific during the war and was 100 when he died last month.

As a former Vietnam era U.S. Marine myself, seeing this kind of modern day respect for old veterans that simply did what their country asked of them from more modern day 'veterans' who still serve our country...makes my heart swell. Thank you Officer Newman Brazier for listening to the honour that was within your heart...you give me faith.
Thanks for your service Marine. This Ranger vet would like to say SEMPER FI DO OR DIE but Rangers lead the way. Also a heartfelt WELCOME HOME

Thank you Officer Newman Brazier! I (76 y/o German Dentist who has worked for the U.S, Army Dental Clinic in Heidelberg for 3 years) got misty eyes when I watched the clip. This gesture, standing at attention in the pouring rain, says more about you than a uniform, a badge and a rank can ever say. You have your heart in the right place and you are a hero!
Semper.

What a great police officer you can tell he was raised with great parents. He has so much respect. Thank you for doing this.

Honor and respect has no color. Officer Newman Brazier, I respect you and for what you did. ❤
weird unknowingly racist comment, sounds like a trump voter.
Thank you for saying something that needed to be said. Americans are Americans. Yes, some were and some times are treated differently based on skin color. But it goes both ways. And both ways have absolutely no place in today's society. God bless America
Tell that to other soldiers and americans. In a news youtube stream. There were people saying take away people of colors rights. spamming it and trump 2024.
America most definitely isn't based that whole about honor and color. There's a reason this black veteran doesn't have a big bombastic funeral like other white ones have. So stop lying. Moron.
@@robertK3371 Nothing a black person can say to you amounts to what the n word means. So no it doesn't go both ways robert. You fucking idiot. God. May you meet some black people who are honest and not manipulating you. Like yes, it is gross to be called a c word as white male. But remember people still want to fly the confederate flag. There are states where crosses are burned. You think it goes both ways? Just cause in detroit they don't like some Polo wearing white boys in flint?

It's great to see our veterans being honored. Most of our current generation doesn't respect veterans because they don't appreciate that these veterans fought and died for our freedom!
No vet after WW2 died and fought for our freedoms.
Because of the leftists and their lies, young generation have started hating America😢
They don't respect modern veterans that invade and destroy countries for money and control. EVERYBODY respects ww2 veterans that fought against true evil.
Unfortunately, my generation may go through the same experiences soon if we don't oust the leftist warmongers.
Two heroic warriors. One passed the other standing. A moment that speaks volumes.
