I am a 62 year old woman who will always be grateful to Wim Hof for writing a book and yourself for the video cause for the last 30 years I have been on anti depressants and suffered with inflammation. The past six months both have gotten better. I have actually caught myself laughing as I come out of the freezing shower. Why be miserable when we have cold water.😊😊😊😊😊😊
I used to shower my legs with cold water after long runs. Learned it from racehorse trainers. Definitely improves recovery time for people (and horses). :)
As always, you continue to inspire me. I am a big fan of ice cold showers in the spring and summer, especially after a good work out. But after watching this video, I decided I would try my first cold shower when it’s actually cold! I did precede it with a hot shower (I can’t seem to rinse the soap out of my hair otherwise), but it wasn’t bad at all! It felt the same as it does during the summer, and left me with that same charged feeling in my whole body. I definitely love embracing the cold. I’m out in a T-shirt and shorts and my Xero sandals unless it’s below freezing. But like you say I’m not a slave to it: sometimes my body feels really cold and I love standing in hot water for 10 minutes!
Try jumping in freezing water up to your neck. After a year… Started with the cold shower, 15 seconds, then 30, etc. Then jumping in the bay. Now, a 60F swim is absolutely lovely. 45 (11ish C?) is still… Uncomfortable. But honestly, that’s the best thing about it. It’s the easiest thing you can do routinely that’s also the closest thing to holding your hand on hot stove that doesn’t result in permanent damage. I mean… It’s not THAT bad. But it is actually painful. But you can actually learn that you can stare into pain, and discover that you actually can endure it, and that experience isn’t as bad as the fear/anticipation of it. And best of all, you can learn that when every part of you is screaming “No, I don’t wanna,” you can just be like, well, be that as it may, I’ve decided that I’m doing it, so f*** it, it’s happening. And to be able to practice that, week after week…. I can’t offer scientific proof, but it seems possible that that could end up helping in other areas of your life. Either way, although it doesn’t feel good at the time, it definitely does afterward.
Just like training, the start is hard but once you get pass that you can never stop. Love cold showers i rarely get sick and my recovery is alote faster Thanks for the tips al ♥️
Never in my life did I think I'd take a cold shower. I HATE the cold, but made the jump last week and it's been amazing so far. I usually turn it on then count down from 3 and jump in.
I usually tell people that the best time to try it is in the summer, since more often than not the cold water coming through the pipes will be warmer than it is in the winter. That and if you're outside and hot from the summer weather, a cold shower is going to feel great. These things help rig the game in your favor.

I take a regular warm shower until it's time to rinse, then i switch to as cold as possible and stay under for at least five minutes. A trick I use when switching to cold is to let the cold water spray down directly on my chest for about 30 seconds or longer. This lets your body acclimate to the cold better.
It’s a bad idea from hot to cold is very dangerous for lungs. I did it for 2 months everyday from very hot to very cold straight in the chest area, that made me sick , I had bronchopnwumonia , cause cold water lead to vasoconstriction of blood vessels near lungs, and that can lead very easy to lung infection , cause of trauma in chest area .I never will do this again If I do this , I will do ice bath but not cold showers anynore., expecially from hot to cold , never again
How can I plumb a chiller to a shower, such that a flip of a switch somewhere, the water coming out of near ice-cold? For example, if remodeling a bathroom, no walls, everything is down to the studs.. Is it possible to plumb a water chiller* into a shower? Similar to the video "Making Your Shower Deliver ICE COLD water for Wim Hof Cold Showers", but using a commercial chiller. I like those recirculating pumps that go under the sink, but in this case I'd want to flip a switch to start the chiller and recirculate ice-cold water about half-an-hour before I'm going to need it.. and divert the showerhead to use this water. In terms of operation cost (water usage and electricity), any thoughts on how an ice-machine (ex. Euhomy / hOmeLabs Freestanding ) compares to a freezer chest? For example, the ice machine can fill its 30 pound canister in about 8 hours (100lbs/day), which I think is around 3.5 gallons of water. The yearly energy cost would be around $50 in my area. But will 30 pounds of ice be enough to get a 40 gallon tub with 65F water to < 50F (ideally 5C)? (Although Dave Asprey says just dunking one's head/hands/feet into ice-water just before bed is enough to get better sleep!) The Small portable Bathtubs (ex. Homefilos or the 85gallon Cold Pod) seem difficult to get in and out of. The reason is because lukewarm water is warm enough to open up and clean your pores without drying out you scalp and skin, and when you finish off with cold water, it helps close up the pores making your skin smooth and can help prevent pimples
