    Awesome content! I’m 40 years old been a trainer since 2003. I’ve worked in private performance facilities and learned a ton working along side Strength coaches, Physios , Physical therapists and only now getting my bachelors degree in Kinesiology. Never too late i guess. Any seminars coming soon ?

    I would start with NSCA 💪to start my career as assistant football coach or strength & condition coach.

    I‘m interested in a CSCS and a CPSS, i would like to work with athletes but also interested in fields like sport performance science. Can you add certifications later?

    • @BrettBartholomewCoach
      @BrettBartholomewCoach  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely. It all just depends on where you’re trying to work (high-school, college, pro, private etc.) each will have their own requirements or standards. CSCS is imperfect (what isn’t) but is most widely recognized in the US. I cover more of this on my podcast as well. artofcoaching.com/podcast/

    Do you suggest the NASM pes for someone that didn’t go to college and wants to get to the collegiate level or pros ?

    • @BrettBartholomewCoach
      @BrettBartholomewCoach  ปีที่แล้ว

      Best for you to take a look at the minimum requirements for those positions.
      Typically they will look for and mandate something from the NSCA but not always. Every situation and job posting will be a bit different so just do your research and don’t hesitate to reach out to the organization if you’re curious. It will show you’re proactive

  • @booknerd3850

    Is the NASM PES certification a good one as well?

    • @BrettBartholomewCoach
      @BrettBartholomewCoach  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sure! Just depends on your goal for employment. You should always check and see what the job postings require. Otherwise you’ll chase your tail.

    So should you get a master in strength and conditioning or is that a waste of time

    • @BrettBartholomewCoach
      @BrettBartholomewCoach  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depends on your goal- if you want to work in the collegiate setting you will likely need it.
      However- you do not need it to become a strength coach in all settings.
      The most important thing is having your degree (most job postings require it along with a recognized cert which also needs a degree) you also NEED firsthand experience. Too many uneducated coaches out there doing nonsense and also plenty of OVEReducated coaches with no real experience.

I coach football now but I want be a strength coach and get high level experience so I can go bsck to the highschool level but to get that experience Would I have to go to grad school ? Is my thing idk I have no guidance in this me and twin brother are the first in our family to do this and idk what to do

    I see so many strength coaches these days who can’t or never have actually trained heavy then I see them with their athletes and I cringe… I recently refused to let someone at my sons school coach them and took it upon myself who has an 1800+ lb total and now I have his teammates parents asking what I charge. I’m an electrician by trade and I’d think I would want certs of some kind to cover my ass. A lot of trainers out there gets certs with no real world experience

      Thanks for sharing your perspective! Hopefully these resources have helped. The perspective of a lot of coaches who have trained and done the work can be found here: www.amazon.com/Conscious-Coaching-Science-Building-Buy/dp/1543179479/ref=nodl_

    What advice do you have for someone who wants to get the CSCS but doesn’t know how to start and has a degree in education and not the exercise science field!

      Check out this for more tips on standing out: artofcoaching.com/intern/.
      To get started with the CSCS go here and register: www.nsca.com/certification/cscs/. Once you set that exam date that will give you the initiative to get started!
