@@Wleez just to chime in, what Eric said is right. The RS3 has a Haldex system which is part-time AWD. The car practically acts like it's FWD until the rear wheels are needed (when it detects slip for example). The RS5 is a completely different Torsen system which is permanent AWD. For driving pleasure you're definitely going to prefer a full-time AWD system like Torsen. Or maybe a part-time system like Haldex but which is RWD-biased instead of FWD-biased (like in the old M140i for example). Imo it's really misleading that Audi chose to market their Haldex system with the same 'quattro' moniker which is found in every other Audi (which are mostly Torsen).

It is not just that. It is loss in quattro. Quattro loses about 20-25% of the power, RWD about 15%. So Audi probably has about 30HP less to the wheels. Not sure by how much aero coefficient is different, that will play role, later above `160-180 Kmh
With warm tyres (different video on this channel) Carrera S obtained 11.7 s and that means it is much faster than Audi. In slippery conditions, Carrera 4S would be necessary to beat RS5, unquestionably.
4WD is not necessary for Carrera S power....it's engine over the back wheels gives it sufficient grip. Also Carrera 4S because of it's 4WD system is heavier and has more drivetrain power loss, so it's slower in the rolling race. It's slower than RWD Carrera S as soon as they get to 2nd gear.

The Audi jumps off the line at the start because of it’s AWD. The Carrera 4S would undoubtedly do the same which would probably give it an even bigger lead at the end. The Carrera 4S is only 105 pounds heavier and according to Porsche is faster to 60 mph than the Carrera S. Even with the extra 105 lbs a Carrera 4S would still be lighter than the Audi. Either way, I’d take any of them if offered.

Peter S. My entire point as I said in my original comment was to see a Carrera 4S in the same race “to see how the 911 gets off the line with AWD compared to the Audi” somehow that got turned into a rolling start and an entire race.
It‘s down to the drivetrain losses... when having to split the power to 4 wheels, you‘ll have greater drivetrain losses than when you just have to split it to 2 wheels. Thus, with equally powerful engines, the RS is quicker off the line, but if traction doesn’t play too big of a role anymore, the Porsche will always catch the RS.
That's minimal nowadays. It's way more likely that Porsche underrated their horsepower figures more than Audi. Probably makes more like 500, while the Audi makes around 465ish.

I own a 2019 S5 and it’s such a fun car. Has everything that you need in a daily driving car + some more and it’s no slouch when you want to have a little fun while making all the right noises. So RS5 with that extra 90hp and torque must be magnificent. However I do want a Porsche one day, preferably GT3RS.
I’ll still take the RS5 for my daily ride, more spacious more comfortable more equipments, almost as fast as 911 in a real world usage, faster in wet condition, and off coz it’s much cheaper although still quite expensive though 😂

This was a the same Porsche that was walking down a AMG GT63-S. Truly impressive. Obviously the Porsche is on a different level of Power to weight.

Either way the reason for the results is down to how much power makes it to the ground. Rwd rear engine vs awd front engine.

I own a 2019 S5 and it’s such a fun car. Has everything that you need in a daily driving car + some more and it’s no slouch when you want to have a little fun while making all the right noises. So RS5 with that extra 90hp and torque must be magnificent.
However I do want a Porsche one day, preferably GT3RS.
Literally my dream to do a drag race on that runway with a high performance car!!
I’ll still take the RS5 for my daily ride, more spacious more comfortable more equipments, almost as fast as 911 in a real world usage, faster in wet condition, and off coz it’s much cheaper although still quite expensive though 😂

@n s He means traffic, the fact that most roads aren't windy ya fucktard, the fact that you'll use it on boring long straights, road trips, carrying people, etc. Etc.
@n s I lived in California ya goof, yeah most roads have GRADUAL curves that aren't sharp at all, or even remotely similar to a racetrack. The rs5 is more then well equipped to handle these curves at nearly if not full throttle similar to the Porsche. To claim most roads aren't straight or have gradual or slight curves is just stupid, the minority of roads have substantial curves.
