    Great video. Couldn't figure out how to clean the mesh filter. Called Miele, they didn't know either. FINALLY found your helpful video. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

    Big thank you for this video! We've had this vacuum a while now and we could not figure out how to remove the filter frame. All Miele instructions told us that it can be removed to clean but not how, because it starts out incredibly stiff to pull out and it's not obvious where you pull, we were afraid of breaking it and have been searching for ages for how to do it. Every video we found the person failed to remove the filter frame, pulling on it but not in the correct way and so failing to remove it.

    You should do a head to head comparison between this and the latest Dyson canister. It's probably a comparison that a lot of people are having, who are deciding on a premium bagless model

    Best review I've ever seen. Comments section also informative. Been in a domestic quandary for some time since Samsung vacuum went pop about a month ago. I want to buy a bagged Miele now, just have to convince the wife (she wants a robot of course).
    If any market was ever set up to take as much money off you as possible it seems to be the vacuum cleaner market, it is a model in that respect for all other markets. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse they start making cordless models with batteries designed to fail just after the warranty so you have to buy again regardless of how well you treat it.
    Dyson is a narcissistic megalomaniac, if you work for him you have to read his life story and are tested on it. He also wants people to say 'a Dyson' instead of 'a Hoover'.

    I just got one of these, it was an ex-display model with a couple of small problems with the bin latch and bin trim. I did a big mess test with it and it was so poor, I didnt upload the video to youtube. To be honest, it cannot cope with a large amount of mess in one go, just like yours didnt. The mesh cone filter in the bin got clogged every time, when faced with a large inrush of dust and fluff. Other than that, if used for just normal levels of household dirt, I have found it to be just fine, in fact its a nice machine to use. It does struggle to turn the STB-205 turbo brush I tried on it, even on max 1200W power setting. The supplied combi head does a great job on carpet though, really clings to the carpet and although its slightly hard to push, it really pulls the fine dust out, but the motor speed can be slowed down to make the head easier to push. Its an OK machine, but I do prefer the bagged models. I'm glad I only paid £160 for mine, as they are not worth the full £400 asking price.

    Hi Roger. Just bought one without the remote. Started using it. All looked very promising. Did living room. But with brushes protuding by accident. Did kitchen and bathroom and some stairs. Then yellow comfort light came on. I didn't know what it was and what the noise was. I thought I better empty it because it looked quite full. Went upstairs to do bedroom and almost immediatley started to go to minimal suction. Kept going to yellow comfort light and then red comfort light. I read instructions. Cleaned the dust filter. Didn't seem to make any differmece and was clogged up straight away again. Then i read more instructions and cleaned the pleated filter. All drying off now. I think with using the protuding brush on the head by accident and not checking the level on the dust container before it got too high and that I hadn't hoovered for a while as I'd been away I may have overloaded it. Anyway hoping it works well tomorrow once it's dried out. Any suggestions if it doesn't? I can't be cleaning it after every use. That would be too annoying. Bought it at curry's. Do you think they would change it if I don't want it??

    I’ve just binned a working dyson upright because I’m absolutely sick of the slow ramp off of suction after the filter is cleaned. Absolutely nothing can touch this Miele. The power is mind blowing. It pulls the carpet off the gripper rods. It can only be pulled at full power it is that good. It’s robust. The tube design is amazing as is the way it expands and contracts. It’s also much more robust than the dyson which is made of bendy squeaky plastic. The perpendicular cyclone which is kept above the max line is also perfect as it doesn’t get all coated and blocked as the dust is chucked to the outside and into the bins rather than all over the cyclone cone. With regards to cleaning stairs rigidity of the hose is essential. On full power with the motor labouring, the Miele hose maintains flexibility and length. The dyson does that annoying sudden contraction which pulls the vacuum unit over. They are leagues apart

    I was expecting better from Miele. My old Cat and Dog Miele copes with just about anything, including clearing up after builders. Thank you for demonstrating the Blizzard. For now I will stick with my old Miele and my new Shark which as we know picks up kitchen dirt without mound in to the front of the brush head.

    Professional review like always.
    Some notes about the cyclone system. My Electrolux/AEG UltraFlex has very similar cyclone setup. I have done a lot of real life tests with it + heavy mess tests.
    It performs well in real life tests + even in some more demanding tests (like yours).
    However when the bin gets full (over the max line) same thing happends to it. It clogs up.
    This doesn't mean that you necessarily need a multi cyclone vacuum.
    I still feel like bagged Mieles are better.

    • @ibaisaic

    After 1 year of use this is my take.
    Everything ok -except the following needs improvement....
    1. The power cord needs to be 1 meter longer (3 feet), and I don't like the full retraction. Prefer to adjust myself with foot.
    2. Small round objects get stuck in the cyclone and spin round and round, until turned off then tilt vacuum and then turn back on ....that drives me crazy
    3. The wand neer hand needs an open/closer to adjust suction, so one does not have to reach down to turn the power dial down then up.
    4. The canister gets filthy and does not look like the reviews. Big plumes of dust when emptied.
    5. The attached wand brush is a bad idea. When bristles get worn you have to replace the whole nine yards
    6. I really like the design, and that more than makes up for these deficiencies

    Hey Roger, it would be great to have you do a demo of the cat and dog version of this cleaner. I think it would give a much truer indication of how it would do on carpet as it has the turbo head.

    This was a really great review that you did for AO. I'm looking forward to your in depth review. It seems to me that this machine is almost about as large as the Sebo D4 but unlike the D4 hasn't a swivel hose making it much less flexible in use. Also, it's been fitted with a miserable floorhead. The models that have the integrated dusting brush need a seperate dust brush for wand end cleaning and no clip to place the dusting brush on the wand in models that have it seperateIy. I don't think that the bin is large enough if they wanted to develop power nozzle models for it. I think that it needs to be repackaged, starting with the tools. That combination floor tool isn't worthy of a Miele and a wand or hose clip needs to be supplied for the dusting brush or it just isn't a complete machine to go about the house with.

    I've had a Miele Red Star since 1999. It was given to me by a neighbor who bought it and thought it too heavy for her frail body to use so she just gave it to me, for free! That Red Star still going strong 20 yrs later, with only a cord repair needed. After a miserable experiment of owning a Dyson vacuum for several years (plastic junk that breaks off in pieces), I will *never* own a bagless system again. There is nothing better than a Miele bagged canister vacuum. Not a speck of dirt escapes, even the inside of the canister stays clean. Miele bagless? No way.

    It's amazing Roger that so many expensive vacs that you review snow plow on hard floors and struggle on carpets when demonstrating them with just the combi floor head. But that little pink Sanyo you did a demo on was cheap and performed really faultless on hard floors. Also considering it only has the one combi floor head it also did a very impressive job on carpet.

    Thank you for this Excellent maintenance demonstration, particularly on how to dismantle and replace various Miele filters from the canister. I have the Miele CX1 Blizzard Dog and Cat,,, and found this video VERY helpful in getting the bag less canister and the vacuums multiple filters cleaned up. If you are having trouble removing the little mesh filter that is inside the canister, watch carefully where the demonstrator places his fingers when removing this filter. Once you've got it, a gentle pull pops that filter right out and makes returning it to its place equally as easy. Thank you "ibaisaic" for clear demo.

    A couple of drawbacks to this cleaner compared to my old Dyson concerns the rotary head. With the Dyson you could unclip the guard and take out the brushes and snip away any entwinned hair (I have daughters with long hair and a cat and dog). With the Miele I'm trying to use scissors to clean the brushes and have to do this at least once a week. Also, balancing the cleaner on the stairs is an issue. I've had to undertake a complete deep clean of the cleaner and one thing to be aware of is running your fingers between the filters as I ended up with a 'paper' cut on my finger. I don't like not having as much storage for the attachments either. On the plus side the suction is great and it's relatively quiet. If Miele could bring out an attachment to sort the hair ravel then I'd be giving this a 9 out of 10! Thank you for the guide on cleaning the filters. I was visiting as I couldn't work out how to put it all back together again!

    I've been told that the Blizzard will be debuting in the United States in 2018, and I'm excited to get one, assuming they sell it with a power nozzle. Even if it's not perfect, Miele doesn't do a poor job with anything, and it'll be an amazingly fun vacuum to use! If they don't offer it with a power nozzle, I won't bother with it at all, though.

    Hi Ibaisaic, to me having a Miele powerhead that vacuums well under furniture such as a bed is priority (eg lifted off ground on corners, has space between floor and bed. Powerhead has separate on switch). I have used this type of Miele powerhead before, and aware of possible extra cost. Is this type of powerhead an option with Blizzard CX1?

    I like the part to avoid getting dust on you they suggest cleaning from the one direction what happened to the self-cleaning now we are on filter number 2 now we have two filters that plug up and kill airflow which equals poor suction its a Eureka needs a brush with gaps so when your up against baseboards you still have air flow and what size motor again? lol

    I watch these posts about comparing this to Dyson, they say how terrible Dyson is. I have a Dyson dc25 and it has been the best vacuum i have ever owned and i have a German Shepard so its always picking up fur. It has never clogged or lost power and it always gets the fur out of my carpet. I always clean out the dust cup after every use and i always wash the filters and make sure the cyclones are clean.

    Thanks for the details review, i like the remote part on the handle, seems pretty convenience. But in terms of suction, which is better, the new bagless Miele or Dyson ? I had an old Dyson which comes with HEPA filter whereas the new Dyson cinetic big ball suction is slightly more powerful but it doesn’t come with HEPA filter, and when the perforated metal part (sort of filter I think) inside the tank gets clogs up, suction seems to be less and less powerful, kind of similar to your demo, but the old Dyson with HEPA filter don’t have suction loss issue, so I was wondering if this new Miele is better then Dyson. Thanks.

    Hi, Ive got 3 Miele vacuums including a S5 revolution and to me the 2200w suction still beats anything newer that I have tried (I know you've had one in the past). The SEB-236 is also the best power head i've ever used. I'm Australian and am currently living in Europe so i was surprised to see such weak vacuum cleaners. Powerheads are practically unheard so when I show people they are somewhat amazed at how little effort is need to clean carpets. Just like your opinion on newer vs older Thanks in advance.

      I think that some of the older higher wattage cleaners do have more suction than the eco equivalents, but developments in motor, fan and nozzle design means that the performance is still as good, but not in all cases.

      The EU is only outlawing the sale of high wattage vacuums, you are allowed to use your vacuum as long as it lasts.

      I know it's only for the sale of Vacuums, But that's the problem for someone who likes to swap and change them often, I'll have to hold onto my higher wattage machines now in fear of never being able to buy another!!, Sad maybe but I've quite a lot of area to clean..

    Consider starting each pass at the furthest point from you, then pull the head towards you. For heads without a spinning brush, that works better.
    In normal household use, no Vacuum-Cleaner has to pick up that much material in a small area. How about spreading a smaller measured amount over a wider area and then see what percentage of that the cleaner collects.

    How did you remove that little mesh filter? I just picked up one of these vacuums and wanted to take it apart before I use it. That mesh filter is really snug, and I feel like I'm going to snap off the tab that holds it in place if I pull harder. The manual isn't much help in that regard - it just says to "release the filter frame and remove it".

    This is my second replacement Miele CX1 Blizzard Cat and Dog vacuum and I noticed on my first unit and replacement units that they seem to leak/ let dust escape from the bin itself when the vacuum is up right and placed on the floor. If you tap it or shake it a bit I’ve noticed large debris around the bin that have fallen to the ground around the bin area. Also, I have a concern with the air blowing out of the side versus straight up as this disturbs all the dirt that is on the ground pushing it up into the air and behind furniture defeating the purpose of cleaning. Let me know if anyone else who owns this vacuum has the same issue?

    Starting at 3:48, shows all the complex clear plastic pieces. I'm surprised. With CAD, Miele could've designed a smoother, more ergonomic bagless container. Seems like a nightmare to clean and maintain and the plastic bits look fragile. With dirt inside, the plastic will look like hell too after just a few cleanings. For me, the Miele bag canister vacuums would still be the way to go. The bags are not expensive, are easily disposable, and your vacuum stays nice and clean.

  • @Micromation

    Hey @ibaisaic do you know by any chance if pet brush from CX1 Cat & Dog work with this CX1 Comfort if acquired separately? Comfort you reviewed has nice controls in the handle and reading reviews of both I can't spot any relevant differences - both feature 1200W motors.

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, all current Miele tools including all the turbo nozzles will fit this machine.

    • @Micromation
      @Micromation 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So the only difference between Comfort and Cat&Dog is different nozzle bundled and different set of controls? (handle controls vs knob on the unit) Just making sure there are no other shenanigans involved, like an extra or different type of filter inside or something along these lines.
      Any chance you could help decide between STB 305-3 head (purchaseable separately) and STB 205-3 head? (that one is included with Cat&Dog edition, not sure what the differences between the two are).
      I also see that until the end of May Miele offers warranty extensions from 2 to 10 years for £50 - worth it, in your opinion or is it just load of bollocks? (not sure if what exdended warranty covers has relevant real world value since it seems to exclude a lot of things)
      Lastly, currently I use EXTREMELY worn out Ensign Stealth I (got it for free from hotel I used to work at) - will I be happy with CX1? My main reason of getting it, beyond comfort and bagless nature (savings!) is to reduce amount of dust being thrown back into the air while vacuuming. Plus I've grown very strong negative feelings towards upright vacuums over the years.
      I'm sorry for bothering you but at this point you have proven to be infinitely more helpful than Miele contact email which seems to respond with tailored copy&paste messages which aren't very helpful :/ Why don't you run any affiliate program so you can directly benefit from us buing units you review?

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The STB 305-3 head is a newer design Miele launched for the lower wattage cleaners so should perform better than the 205-3 head but I haven't tried one myself. Personally I prefer the bagged Miele cleaners as they are lighter and less bulky than the Blizzard. I have never paid for an extended warranty on a vacuum cleaner, but then I have more than one machine so they don't get as much use. I haven't looked into an effilate program yet, but I may consider it in future.

  • @cheekyfacemurf1565
    @cheekyfacemurf1565 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi again! Do you know by any chance Does the blizzard come with an electric power head option?..... I would be very interested in getting on if it's available:-))

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      None of the current models have the option of adding a power head, only an air powered turbo nozzle, but I guess Miele may add a power head option in the future if the Blizzard is successful.

      @cheekyfacemurf1565 7 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @Sigridovski
    @Sigridovski 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The parquet head is made with real, natural bristle - MUCH better. And never, never use a rough sponge on plastic - it makes scratches that collect dirt at once. And you don't have to do several passes for oats if you tilt it at once on the first pass, instead of on the third pass. I saw it at once.

      DARK M00N It’s because all the dirt is neatly stored in the dust bag; there is no danger of dust spilling when you change the bag as the bags are self sealing. The bags last a very long time; we get about 4 months use out of a single dust bag.

  • @andreiclawhammer

    No Hepa filter on these bagless vacums, only for the canister bagged ones, beware. Also you need to wash all the pieces (filter and container+pieces) and leave them spread out for drying so these bagless vacums are very high maintenance and require lots of space because of this. One the upside you save on filters and bags for regular canister vacums, which definitely adds up over time, but is it worth all the bother? On the other hand, supposedy, bacteria can build up in the hepa fillters for bagged vacums, when the filter is closer to its end of life so that's worth considering too and you can't wash those, only the filters from the bagless vacums like this one can be washed. Argh, why does everything have to be so complicated!
