That's the reason i love watching your vidéos, détailing cars isn't a chore for you, you even don't seem to be working, you're having fun and you trach us a lot of interesting and precious tips and tricks.
Phil & wifey, not because I own a red VW but, man... you guys made that Passat just sing! The color combi of red paint and tan interior just pops... actually, with your work, more like; explodes! Gotta be satisfying... Shine on you crazy diamonds! 🚘
Something like that happened to me with a client where he parked his car and the front part was under a tree. He tried removing all bird poop with windex and mechanics blue paper towel. So now you can imagine the lots of marring looking similar to what you are having 😜😜 Once all done I gave him as a present 2 towels with a small bottle containing Maniac Waterless and 16 ounces or Rinseless 256:1 so he can spray next time and proper technique to remove it. Now, every three months he comes for maintenance. I coated his Honda Accord with Majestic Solutions Shield Repel (3 years coating last year)
@@MirandaDetailing 😜😜yes, some people come forward with what happened and some because I ask what happened. Some just say "I don't know" or blame it on the wife or viceversa, or on one of their children 😜😜
I have a VW in Pure White and its a very difficult paint color to correct. Its very hard paint requiring many test areas to get imperfections out. Have you guys come across a VW in pure white and what combo best worked for you to get a lets say 70% paint correction done? Thanks for yout time.
@@MirandaDetailing Its difficult to say just one thing, on VW/Audi hard paint, I do know VAG Groups Pure White paint code is VERY difficult to work with. Most use wool pads and finish with a microfiber or foam, but figuring out a good combo of product/pads I am actually still in the hunt for. Shine Supply Perfect Cut with DIY's wool pad followed up with a polish of your choice and a foam finishing pad can do it for some cars. Just wanted to see if you guys struggle with hard paints and what works for you guys.
If we come across hard paint we usually just use the microfiber disc and something like Meguiar’s D300 correction compound or Megs M110 compound. It just takes a few slow section passes and working in small 2x2 ft areas. But I haven’t come across anything too hard that couldn’t cut with those combos.
@@MirandaDetailing the microfiber route is good, haven't used Meguiars in a while, had issues with dusting, but then again I was probably applying too much, once I began using shine supply products I kinda got spoiled. the DIY wool pad is pretty good too. What Microfiber pads do you guys like to use? I have only used the Meguiars pads, polishing and compounding microfiber pads, have no experience with any other brands.
Yes! The Megs Microfibers are the ones I primarily use, but HoneyCombination pads have a few really good microfiber pads that cut really well. But we have been using the Megs ones for years. You can also mist the pad with a little water or a pad condition and it reduces dust and increases cut a little. But the pads do heat up fast so you have to do 2 slow passes on each section then allow to cool and take your time.
Seen a hood replacement that had a different coating on it and it was not stripped off and was much dirtier than the rest of the car. It also seemed someone tried to hand polish it and created a haze on whatever coating was there. During correction the paint finish was the same hardness so it look great after a full detail. Had to be off a different car.
@Miranda Detailing = Perfected team work/harmony in the art of the detail. Phil, where can I pick up a gasoline cap for the cars that dont have caps? Thanks !!
Thanks for the tip on the inside corner pieces, I see how mucky mine are every time I clean the glass and then forget to clean those! What did you use for those corners?
You guys make it look to darn simple ! Haha either that paint is soft as butter and a couple passes will do or your expertise and products are top notch. Please let me know.
Hi. Thanks. Not sure really. Each vehicles paint will very. When people say a certain brand of vehicles paint is typically hard or soft, I don’t go by that. I have heard people say Porsche paint is usually hard, never found that to be the case, it’s always been soft for me. Some say VW paint is hard, didn’t see that in this either. But years of experience has taught us to just do a test spot with a combo and see what happens and go from there. In this case the paint was pretty easy to polish.
My take... VW paint tends to be hard, the soft clear makes me think that the hood was probably damaged in transit and repainted with a different paint system. The color matches, but the clear is different.
Hi. That’s interesting, I haven’t found VW paint to be hard typically. The hardest paint I ever came across was older Mercedes. This paint was easy to polish. 😎👍🏼
you check the depth of paint on the hood, did you check the front bumper? Might have come off another car after a crash? Just some of the nasty surprises I have found that my client did not know 😂
The paint depth gauge can only measure metal panels, so couldn’t check bumper unfortunately. But I think someone just tried to clean the hood to aggressively and marred it up.
Boy, the red really popped. Question: Have you ever had an "overlap" line from a coating. You know, where you stopped and 2 towel buffed the area, then kept applying to the next adjacent panel and overlapped? The overlapped area looks darker than the panel next to it with sort of a line? Strange. Might be redoing a hood. Hi wife.
Hi. Nope can’t say I have ever seen that with any of the coatings we used. What coating did you use? How long did you let it sit on the paint before wiping it?
@MirandaDetailing i used CSL, and it sat for less than 2 minutes. Wiped off good. It's very strange. Now, mind you, if I tried to duplicate what happened, there's no way in the world I could do it. You think the coating was on top of something underneath? I'm lost.
Someone tried to polish watermarks from the hood and didn't quite finish the proper steps to make it look like the rest of the car. I just did a black tulruck with the same problem. They park by their sprinkler and it only hit the hood.
Awesome results on the paint. Still using my SPTA Cordless DA polishers. 👍🏾 Thanks to you and Jess.

As always, great video Phil! Question, what product do you use on the rubber trim?
Hi. Thanks. For coating services we use a trim coating like Carpro DLUX
@@MirandaDetailing Thanks as I would never had thought to use that on rubber trim / seals

You do good work! Would that glass clarity cream and a polisher be able to get scratches out of a windshield, or would you suggest something else?
It could if paired with a rayon glass polishing pad and a rotary. A DA has a hard time getting scratches out of glass.
@@MirandaDetailing thank you. I have a DA, but I think I'll try that polish.

Which orange pad was used during your polishing? Thx Phil!
Hi. The orange pads are the regular lake country flat orange pads.
That color is beautiful. Great job as always. I guess not all German paint is hard.
Where did you get that mirka clone polisher? Looks neat. Also do you have the 15mm throw shinemate polisher or the 12mm throw?
Hi. The mini polisher is the Shinemate EB210. I also have the 15mm Shinemate cordless polisher.
Good video Miranda quick question can you recommend a light for swirl something not to expensive thnx
Thanks! These lights are awesome.

Any possibility the hood was vinyl wrapped and not properly removed?
Could have been. I never found out what happened. 🤷🏻♂️
Has it had the hood replaced?
I don’t think so. I think the customer just tried to clean it to aggressively
I have a 2012 VW Scirocco. The paint is like concrete. Always hard to bring up a nice shine.
