  • “We mostly hear from people who have had a concussion months to years ago who are still struggling with symptoms. They always tell us, I wish that I had come across this information earlier and I wouldn’t be in this situation right now.
    The current scientific research demonstrates that between 30-40% of people who suffer a concussion will still be suffering symptoms 1 month later and many will still have symptoms at 6 months. The major reasons why some patients suffer from persistent symptoms and others don’t is becoming more widely known - THE GOOD NEWS is that once you know these, you can use them to your advantage!
    This episode is for those who have JUST recently suffered a concussion and want to start off on the right foot to recover as quickly as possible. Using the strategies we discuss in this episode are the same ways that Complete Concussion Management clinics have been able to keep the number of patients with symptoms after 1 month down to less than 5%.
    Please share this if you know someone who has just suffered a concussion so that they can implement these strategies and avoid long-term issues.

    Thanks for this. I am a 52 year old woman at day 18 after a car accident in which I had a concussion. In the US, even with a medical referral, I was unable to get an appointment with a neurologist because of the cause of my concussion. Apparently, it's considered to be a forensic and not a medical visit, even though I literally just wanted someone to do some simple functional assessments and help me create a treatment plan. At first that increased my sense of being alone in this and therefore my anxiety. But then I realized that in every other health crisis I've had, I've been my own best healer and advocate. So I've been piecemealing together my own treatment plan which seems to be helping. I listened to several of your other podcasts before this one, but this pulled it all together. Thanks so much for all you do!

      @Yael Flusberg how are you after concussion? What did help? Could you share your recovery program? I’m with concussion on day 11 after raffling accident. 52 years old woman. I’m also left on my own with no guidelines after three doctors visits. Thank you in advance! 🙏🏻

      @@krasimech oh, my hopes for a speedy recovery. i really let myself go slowly. i did a lot of what was suggested here in terms of the neuro-ocular (eye) exercises, adding in more balance and strength exercises as it felt right. (i'm also a yoga therapist so feel pretty blessed to have a lot of resources on that end). i microdosed lion's mane, putting it into my morning coffee (since it helps with neurogenesis), took tumeric, made teas with gingko. i began teaching yoga classes a week after my accident as a positive distraction -- but these are all very gentle classes, and last 60-75 minutes). it took 6 weeks before i could do any multi-tasking or planning/more engaged work. i gardened. i took walks in the woods. i really practiced acceptance and going with the flow/following the crumbs vs. pushing through. i'm four months out now and still notice some subtle shifts -- my motivation is a bit lower than usual (but i'm also less motivated to be on social media which is great!), and i sometimes forget things. just started microdosing psilocybin and will see how that goes. i wish you the very best!!!!!

      @@dcyael many thanks for sharing your experience so I know a bit what is ahead. I go for walk every day, up to 6000 steps, IR sauna and berry diet with fresh orange juice, herbal tea, ….very light diet. I still can not bend over without pain in my head, so I’ll wait with yoga.. I take it easy and don’t push anything I’m not ready to do. God bless! ❤️

      @@krasimech it was ten days before i even took a walk longer than ten blocks. i was thrilled when i was able to do some low impact weights/PT/yoga. i also used a biomat so great that you have access to the infrared sauna. don't forget self-compassion. many blessings to you -- i hope you get back on the water soon!

    Thanks so much for all your info. This has all been so so helpful. If your open for feedback to your videos, it would be helpful to have timestamps of your video. Because you have such useful info! I want to go back and re listen to parts and would be so good if I could go to the exact spot that starts.

    I had sparring at boxing a day ago and my head feels like it’s getting railed with a spike, do I have a concussion?

    • @picoriveiria4824
      @picoriveiria4824 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I was sparring and caught a shin to the bridge of my nose, I was just about out on my feet. I experienced a lot of dizziness and a little bit of confusion. Forgot some random words when interacting with people. Idk if this helps but if you think you have one I’d get to recovering and stay way from contact until you feel better

    Not a bad video, but it is a bad title. Day 4 post concussion and I need information that is actually helpful right now. I don't care about the gen ed crash course on concussions - way too many details none of which are helpful to someone who just had their first concussion. This is Hell, I just want some tips about what to do.

    Too long of a video and too many details to hear before the main treatment. My head is about to explode and I'm falling asleep. I do not have the patience for this FFS.
