I started a BBS culture a couple months ago. I initially added way to much spirulina powder to the tank and figured they were dead. I gave up on them came back a week later, the green water was gone and there were hundreds of little shrimp swimming around. I think they are a lot tougher than we think they are. I have a 20 gallon aquarium that im getting ready to start, i will be using nanochloropsis phytoplankton with, the development seems to be a lot faster

Thanks for the idea of culturing brine shrimp, i just noticed, that brine shrimp also giving birth. I mean baby brine shrimp comes out from a mother brine shrim. No need to hatch. Amazing.
I need things to be simple, not a lot of expensive high maintenance things. Thank you so much for showing me how to do this in a bucket outdoors. I will start a culture today, to put eggs in when i see algae grow! Im excited.

i saw you said rock salt is required but i have only salt water tanks with reef and fish only so i have allot of salt for marine tanks can i just use that salt for the brine shrimp

I also gave up on brine shrimps for the same reason. Daphneas are a way better choice and don't need so much care. They are available free in every ponds, reproduce fast, clean and filter their own water ... Basically ou just feed and scoop out.
Every culture is different so NBD but you might want to be careful about what is happening in the background of the video as that might earn you a strike.
please forgive my innocence. i have never grown algae . so do i need a sample of algae to start algae culture? as i cannot find algae here in gulf.. or i jus need to put this mixture of water under the sun is enough?
Ummm. They won't die if you barely feed them the first week or two.. The bacteria bloom from the feeding causes low oxygen and Amonnia, which both kill them. It's the same as with the Nitrogen Cycle I. Your New fish tank... That's why they live in the same water after some failures.. The living organisms that Process the wastes need to grow first.

Great tip you gave when harvesting, to do a first flush because a lot of eggs settle at the bottom to.

Yes! I use Instant Ocean sea salt for my hatches and it works great.

Just put the mixture under the sun.
I find not all salt will desovle when using 8 tbsp per gallon & it killed my BBS I used less salt
