Jimmy I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you recording Dean’s fish room and his techniques. Dean would be a dream mentor for any fish breeder hobbyist and the information he is sharing through your videos is invaluable. Thanks again!
There are dozens of videos on brine shrimp hatching on YT, and they are all basically correct, but with Dean you get "value added" content as far as the little attention to detail that his wealth of experience that years of doing this and constantly look to make the process work better for him each time. Thanks Jimmy.
I just want to say a big thanks to Dean for this little guide. Using his rough measurements I hatched my first ever batch with great success. My male Apisto finally has a full stomach after refusing anything prepared or frozen. For my first attempt, I used a less permanent version of a USB air pump connected to a drinking stray to get the air at the bottom of a water bottle.
Geez the estimating of ingredients killed me. For so long I have been following precise directions and here’s this guy. This is a good reminder to experiment sometimes.
iam just aww struck this shows his heart in fish keeping his knowledge, after seeing this i just ant to start a fish room today... thanks for taking the video and thanks to dean for being so REAL. AND TRUE
I have my hatcheries going 24/7. Super easy to do (>5 minutes a day). I end up siphoning them in to a water bottle I cut the top off of. I add an airstone, restart the hatchery, and feed out of this water bottle all day. All of my fry, and even my adult fish, just adore them.
SF brine shrimp eggs (Artemia franciscana sp.) at a 70% hatch rate produce approximately 252,000 nauplii per gram of egg. Newly hatched nauplii are approximately 434 microns.
WOW!!! I am seriously humbled that a National/International company would take the time to comment on a video that I'm in. Note the micron size of 434 that these hatch at, they are much smaller than the great salt lake brine shrimp nauplii. This is what makes them great for those really small fry such as rainbows, barbs, tetras, and bettas, they are able to feed on a super nutritious live food days or sometimes weeks earlier. This gives them that initial growth spurt which translates into a much higher survival rate. I've used their brine shrimp eggs as well as their frozen brine shrimp for many many years.
When I was a kid in the 1970s, I had no idea that my pet Sea Monkey's were actually just a bunch of brine shrimp. One thing's for sure, you can't teach them to do tricks like the comic book ad claimed.
Awesome! I was hoping you would make this video. I remember seeing Dean’s hatcheries in the background of one of you videos. Thanks for doing this. You guys make great videos together.
I've always used marine salt because of the water softness issue we have out in Seattle, baking soda is a really nice cheap fix. Learning from the best is always good - well shot Jimmy!
The brand of bottle to use alone was worth watching this video. I just started my first ever hatchery and noticed the eggs gathering on the rounded edges Dean pointed out.
Thanks Jimmy for a marvelous glimpse into Dean's BBS hatches. I am preparing to do the same and i appreciate the chance to actually see how to rinse the shrimp and the type of sieve that I need to get. Wonderful insight to some of the parameters and i like the little tools that Dean always seems to have handy, like the goose-necked light that's separate from the room lighting. Please keep getting Dean to do more videos. He's a wealth of knowledge for all in the hobby. #FishFam #FishTube
Wow, Dean, Jimmy, just in time for my brand new baby guppies... almost spooky time timing, but a wonderful video. Very simple, very helpful introduction to the world of live food. Jimmy, that is beautiful underscoring, perfect for the species and the video! Are there awards for these things?
Sean and all: Most appreciative of all and any info related to us newbies...I am glad Dean, that you have shared.I am having a hell of a row hatching shrimp... (easy right???} Best of everything to you! Special honors for your tireless efforts as you keep us in the know....
Save some water by turning off the tap faster. It's stressful hahahaha But as always, this guy has so much information to share and so much knowledge, that's amazing.
Thank you for making this video! I think a DIY detailing the whole bottle setup would be great, but I was able to piece everything together using the comments from Dean in the video and here in the comments section. Thanks again! My fish will be happy! :)
I always found it easier to decapsulate the brine shrimp first. Gives a better hatch rate and no pesky shells, just shrimp and water (they also hatch faster).
I truly respect the way you did all of that.. The compassion, for someone to go through all that, to feed fry, fish, whatever.. That was truly, an awesome video of experience, within the aquatic community.. Big thumbs up, for this video... Thank you!!! Killer Kev, a biker, that loves fish, just as much as you do... 👍😊😉
I don't do nearly as much but for a small hobbyist I decapsulate the eggs first and have no shells to deal with. otherwise his method is the same as mine-I use sea salt from grocery store, a pinch of baking soda.
Great work and great video... thank you for all the knowledge! Years of wisdom wrapped up in a simple straight to the point 20 minute video... gotta like it just for that alone!
Beautiful Video! Beautiful fish room! Great info and great editing! Is it weird that I’m getting misty eyed watching this? 😂 Thank you Jimmy and thank you Dean! More of these please!
I bought all of the items that are recommended and this system works great. Yes, the Ziss, is nice and larger, but more expensive and has a bigger footprint. This is perfect for my 6 aquariums. There are two tips that I can offer, I used a hole saw that I had to drill out the bottom and it fit perfect. I had to add a short piece of tubing (flexible co-op type) between the ball valve and the bottle cap. The bottle caps that I received leaked when connected directly to the ball valve. I just need to make a nice hanger like Dean has. Right now, I'm using coat hanger pieces that begin to rust after the the first use. Great system overall.
Just found CPD fry in my tank, so this is going to help me out a lot, although the fry are pretty small right now. Maybe I should look into vinegar eels? don't know. Also been wanting to see Dean's brine shrimp set up since the last video you showed it. Thanks bub, great video.
Great tutorial Jimmy and Dean. It seems like you skipped a bit about separating the shrimp from shells. Dean talks about dumping some from the initial hatching bottle, separate them, and then put them in a new bottle hanging up after the scene switch? Is there an advantage there versus just feeding them straight away?
Awesome, thank you for a nice video. Can you grow these baby brine shrimps to adult age and bigger size (like those big frozen brine shrimps)? How do you do it - what food they eat, how long it takes? If someone knows please educate us all.
Hi Jimmy & Dean, I like the valve, that Dean uses for the hatching bottle. It seems awesome, could you add link, where can I buy it? Though it is side track, I like the metal valve that Dean uses to fill in the tanks. The ones attached to the water pipe, these are the small ones, almost look like air valve. Thanks. BTW, you should also have series of the technologies used by Dean. It is interesting. Thanks again

Dude, this guys is a genius. Everytime i see him on a channel i'm learning.
That answers the rinse-no rinse argument pretty succinctly! Great video.

Man, it's crazy how clean and pristine Dean's fish room is. I hope my fish room looks as clean when I make one
I have heard people talk about craft. But, this is the first time I have truly seen some one showing their craft!!

Dean is so smart it's crazy. He finds the way to solve issues u didn't realize were issues.
Been in the hobby and commercial side for 30 years. Dean is a legend. Hope to meet him someday.
This guy is such a font of information. So glad you guys do videos with him. Thank you!! 👍👏😄
I've been watching a lot of brine shrip 'how to' videos recently, and this one is _by far_ the best!
When I was a kid in the 1970s, I had no idea that my pet Sea Monkey's were actually just a bunch of brine shrimp. One thing's for sure, you can't teach them to do tricks like the comic book ad claimed.
👌😔
I had them I enjoyed it. I wonder what happen to them now that I think about it.
Alan Morris ok up the guy that started that business, he was shady as hell!
Did you think they were actually monkeys?
@@FoamingPipeSnakes
I knew they weren't tree-swinging monkeys, but I didn't know any more than that. I was only 9 years old at the time.
I love Dean! He works so well, he has perfected so many methods into his living
Gotta make it easy so you can enjoy the rewards.

That light is very handy, comes from IKEA and is fairly cheap.
Thank you both, Jimmy and Dean. Love your DIY and breeding tips, Dean. You are a true asset to the hobby.
Very, *very* professional camera and editing work!! Perfect to follow and complete.
I've always had success with brine shrimp with my fry and baby axolotls. They're easy to hatch out, quick and convenient. Great video!

Awesome video, Thanks. Dean, you have the best fish room. Its so clean, and I love how easily usable it is.
Thank you!
Dean twice in a week 👍
Better than GoT!
we need to see how to breed daphnia effectively next.
ooop, just saw your comment.great minds think like.
Its not breeding if you buy the eggs.. misguiding title for the win. ffs
Except... the title says nothing about breeding.

Wow. That’s a nice guy. Thanks for the help. Caring for my first batch of angelfish fry
picked up some tips for sure. Thanks Dean and Jimmy! 😊
Save some water by turning off the tap faster. It's stressful hahahaha
But as always, this guy has so much information to share and so much knowledge, that's amazing.
Thanks, great vid! I can listen to Dean for hours 😀
I love hatching these for my Baby Bettas.
He doesn't have to dechloronate. The air bubbles get the chlorine out in a few minutes.
Not chloramine.
I still hatch my BBS in chloramine with no issue though.
That was an awesome video. Your capture and Deans knowledge. You guys make a great team!
Amazing fishroom, amazing guy and really high quality video production. Love it!

Hi, can you explain all that please?
@@johnrogers5825 it is a process where you dissolve the shells using bleach. Just google “how to descapsulate brine shrimp eggs”.
@@michaelmccarthy4077 Hi Michael, I'll search that, thank you for replying.

A bit late, but what is decapsulate eggs and how do you do it? Thanks.
I keep coming back to this video. I think my next hatchery will be like this one. Thanks for sharing guys!
his tanks are so clean!
I needed this for my pipefish! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing! Always love info from Dean- Little Bobby
Everything is so clean
No poopie shrimp water! This is an excellent vid and education. Thank you!

This was awesome man keep up the great videos brother
Thanks for this video, Dean.

Thank you Jimmy.....Thank you Dean. ❤
Excellent video. I was wondering where dean picked up the wire hanger part or at least what to ask for at the big box hardware store.
Thanks to Jimmy and Dean, I love these knowledge packed videos!
Such a great video. I was wondering that that valve is on the bottom of the hatcher bottle and where to get one.
So many million of eggs and fishes that is amazing. Thanks for sharing
oh my god, this is really awesome!!! thank you so much for sharing this information!
