I know exactly what happened. The 1DX2 had a button on the back right on the bottom left of the camera down under the screen that changed the file format. It was super easy to bump & changed. I had it happen to me half way through a wedding & shot the couples portraits in small jpg. LOL.

Honestly I love mistakes I've been doing photography for a year and a half and my mistakes have made me really learn. Also there's some mistakes that are just good for some reason. Great video Pete always so much to learn from you so thank you and merry Christmas!!!
Also I think this tech will have the ability to edit the whole photo start to finish from you selecting one or two options.
So true. Mistakes have also often taught me that a lot of received wisdom about what you *must do* isn't quite as essential as you thought after you forget to do it and things still turn out great.

In a way an unedited photo is a job half done. Even when shooting film I tend to do some very slight corrections when scanning

Hey Peter! Great video! HDRs are actually essential in filmmaking, vfx, compositing, cg, and production when working in 3D. HDRs provide real lighting and exposure on 3D objects and environments. Which is how we’re able to get realism in 3D. You’re an amazing photographer! You should totally make your catalog available as HDRs so that cg, vfx, and 3D artists can use them to improve the realism of their scenes and projects. Merry Christmas and have a great new year.

Pete I love you! Love your videos and your style. I know exactly what you are talking about. My DCIM folder contains CR3 files and I always look for them. Some how my canon creates both the CR3 and a jpeg. Need to look at how to get rid of that jpeg. Coool software. Love the long hair look... Keep them coming, love this...

I rarely can guess what you're going to do , however, my mind went directly to the Iceland photos when the video started. I was like ohhh man. I will say you're the #1 reason I'm constantly checking to see I'm shooting RAW
That is amazing, so happy about this for you, Peter! Now if they could just invent something that will bring back the video I accidentally deleted in 2007 that I took of my dad having a lovely reunion with his two sisters and me six weeks before he passed away unexpectedly. I thought I’d only deleted a couple of out of focus shots. We never even got to see it. 😢
There are data recovery tools, though if you've used the SD card after deleting it then chances are that it's already overwritten.
Luminar Neo is easily my favorite editing software right now. Incredibly user friendly and something I can just pop-in and achieve what i want to achieve. Highly recommended.

Just what I needed to know about, I just might be able to make something decent from my decades ago concert photography shot with a now prehistoric Sony Mavica... 640x480 on the built in floppy disk.

I’ve done this a few times in low light when I actually needed to up the exposure in post. My camera switches to the largest JPG setting when the battery runs out. I’ve been retraining myself to check frequently just in case. I rarely edit my RAW, but like to reserve that option.

Yes it's cool, and the photos 👍🔥🔥 but that upscaling feature... Couldn't you have used the lightroom enhance feature, or topaz labs gigapixel ai at more or less any point since these photos were taken?

Did you use the masking isolation on the espresso flow?
I used Topaz Labs Gigapixel to upscale a very very small cell phone image to use as part of a client’s book cover and marketing material. Worked great!

I know the feeling. As a wedding photographer some 35 years ago using film and not seeing that rewind knob turning gave me the same sinking feeling. Then try to remember what was shot so you can make up some excuse to reshoot. At least you had something to show for your efforts.

Focus stacking could come in handy!
Topaz is better. ;) Specifically for choosing your refocus issue. Motion, Lens, Standard blur types.

Clearly you must remember the original upscale Guenuine Fractals which is now ON1 Resize. But yeah cool, I love Luminar software. Just... they always seem to release a brand new program with a different name a new price tag. Luminar 4 changed to Luninar AI now its Luminar Neo…. But great new additions!

The Luminar upscale is sweet, but couldn’t you have upscaled over the past five years with Topaz GigaPixel or even the built in Adobe Super Resolution with LR/PS? Feel like a comparison would be useful but good to recognize this capability already exists in other software.
I once filmed on the bmpcc in Copenhagen for 4 days straight. The whole time it was set 1 frame every 24 seconds. Checking the footage on the last day was the biggest learning of my whole career.... So far

You can also upscale in Photoshop 😅 just make the picture step by step bigger. In small steps, then you‘ll have the same result
