Great camera, I use it with the 600mm PF and the total weight is only 4.34lbs, I can hike all day with that setup
When I saw the title, I skipped over clicking on this episode...but came back later and glad I did! First off, you both really got the job down on your camera reviews...you both touch on the key points of the camera in a direct but fun way. While I shoot FF cameras, I was really shocked at all the features of this camera, I mean...I couldn't believe Nikon included a pre-capture function, you only see that feature on higher end cameras. Anyway, thanks for the great review, and again love your guys style of presentation and how you get to the point. Thank you!
I've bought mine 2 weeks ago. The AF makes the difference to my ZFC.
Required ASAP fast Nikon prime DX Z mount lenses with VR. 😮
I think it's a good camera and great for the price. But I wouldn't recommend it as someone's only camera to build a system around. There just aren't enough options for wide to short tele lenses.
Maybe if Sigma would (be allowed to?) release their 10-80 and 18-50 for Z-mount, or maybe Tamron with their 11-20 and 17-70, then we'd have more interesting options. The Tamron 17-70 is stabilised so you wouldn't miss IBIS all that much either.
Where I could see this camera be of interest, is to people already having a Z5 or Z6 I/II, and adding it specifically for wildlife photography. The crop is welcome, the lack of IBIS doesn't matter much assuming the lens is stabilised, and it offers a similar pixel density and autofocus system as the Z8 in crop mode, at a much cheaper price.
And of course it's a good camera for the vlogging crowd as well, with its tally light, the 12-28mm stabilised lens, and vari-angle rear screen.
Thanks! The Sony cameras you used for the shot sure struggled with maintaining focus. Perhaps the snow was throwing them off? I wonder if the Z50II would have done better!? Happy holidays!
Yes, I noticed that starting at 6:01. I didn't notice it earlier, but it became distracting.
I don't know why anyone would look down on APS-C, that's damn near what Arri Alexa shoots on. I doubt full frame will ever catch up to the use of APS-C.
This camera is great. I’d get the 18-140 lens kit and also buy the Viltrox 75mm F1.2 for Z mount, for portrait. Bingo!! What a cool setup. Cheers
I really like this an additional body and love the form factor. The BIGGEST downside to this is that there are NO fast apsc lenses for this. Yea there are full frame variants but you have to factor in the 1.5 crop, which doesn’t translate to a legit 24-70 2.8 etc. Tamron needs to release a legit fast line for these as I don’t see Nikon ever adding fast DX options.
Yes it would be great if Tamron did their 17 -70 f2.8 for the Z mount
Viltrox do some fast primes for apsc, but no zooms. I’d love the Tamron as you mentioned
There is great Sigma-trio and rumored that Sigma brings that great allround zoom also z-mount apsc.
Picture control, not just for jpeg shooters. NX Studio does a great job reading the picture control data from the raw files and displaying the settings when importing.
I’ll be interested to see how this sells compared to the Fuji xm5. Nikon is more expensive, bigger, and has less resolution and video specs. But does the evf, ergonomics and weather resistance make up for that? I’m guessing the Nikon would be an overall better experience for the beginner.
As a fellow 🇨🇦 I too call it “nykon zed” camera 😀
So many features in this camera, it’s great to be able to watch setup videos for z6iii and z8 and see most of the same menus and options in my little z50ii. One thing about your video, you show a screen of the subject detect modes, but I think it’s from the z6iii not the z50ii as the z50ii actually has bird detect which doesn’t show in the list in your video. Thanks!
So many features packed into such a small affordable package.
I’m curious about the downloadable profiles from others. Is through Nikon’s app or directly from the creators, and is there an additional cost associated? It sounds like a fun concept, but I’m suffering from subscription and in-app purchase fatigue.
με εξαιρεση του φακους sigma η nikon sony canon δεν ενδιαφερονται για σταθερους prime APS-C φακους και οι full frame με ανταπτορα δεν ειναι λυση.
This time we need 60 fps on TH-cam, so it's good for TH-camrs
