      Well, get used to em. Konami loves em. We've had broken engines for like forever. It gets old. The formula. They make a broken deck. People buy it. They dominate. Then they ban parts of it. Then, make the next broken thing. Along the way, we get crazy staples to help counter the current broken thing, and the games powercreep grows and grows. This game could be way better with set rotation.

    • @leeeyles1864
      @leeeyles1864 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      In the last few years a lot of new "archetypes" are just engines. Konami needs to do a better job at releasing an archetype with more than 10 cards imo. I do think it is because of how the game is designed and how power creep necessitates that cards do a lot by themselves, thus cutting down cards per archetype and increasing effects per card.

    A big problem is that the comparative balance of the game and the marketability and monetization of products are entirely at odds. Making amazing cards in new sets moves product and makes stores and vendors happy. But it makes the balance difficult and hurts the gameplay side of things. As well as scaring away/pricing out new and old players alike. They are almost entirely at odds with each other.

    I actually think the ban list should be drastically reduced. Instead of banning and limiting, konami should focus on making lower-tier archetypes stronger. Any format that only supprts 2-4 competitive archetype at a time is never going to bring in new players or become a serious esport. We have over 10k something cards and yet only a handful are useful. We've lost deck build creativity, unique problem solving, and individualism.

    Fire King is a deck that I love and I was stoked when the support in the new Structure Deck was revealed. All of it is exactly what the deck needed. What I take issue with however is the Snake-Eye package. Pure Fire King is a fun control deck meant to trip up your opponent by making them play around a Dark Hole that could turn live with one wrong move. Fire King Snake-Eye into a bland Link spam deck that bores me to no end. I will respectfully disagree. The problem isn't Snake-Eyes in a vacuum or the Diabellstar engine; it is rather the generic nature of engines now and the generic nature of extra deck boss monsters. I actually think this form of playstyle, while overly consistent and oppressing to those not playing Fire, is probably the most "fair" the game has been in at least 8 years. The powercreep Tear Ishizu brought was among the worst things I have ever seen this game go through, and legitimately stopped me from playing anymore. I won't get into how the cost of the game is a giant paywall and does not reflect the playerbase in a general sense, but it is a factor into how these decks are influenced and hit, because the problem cards will not be hit at least until they are reprinted, and what will happen is probably a limitation to Kyrin or Ponix. We should let the game play out for this format

    • @RayMon504
      @RayMon504 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      Correct. The minute one generic engine gets checked, another one gets released not long afterwards. The core of the problem comes down to overall card design and the market plain and simple. This is one of the few times where I'm glad it costs an arm and a leg to access fire decks otherwise the problem would be way worse than it is now. The paywall IMO is actually preventing the fire stuff from being on the same level as PEPE tier 0.

    Konami’s biggest problem is one word: “generic.” Diabellstar doesn’t send an in-archetype card. Neither does Sinful Spoils. We saw a similar issue with Tear where they were never locked into Fusions only, or Tearlament only. Another piece of the problem is that Konami does this with what are clearly their favorite archetypes and personal projects. Everything else has restrictions, balance, then they let their own projects run rampant.

  • @alphadragon7679

    Original Sinful Spoils banned will kill Snake Eye. The deck doesn't have much extension ability without that card and Snake-eye Birch. It also makes it so that the Dark Witch is useless in the deck. That being said, if Original is banned, Wanted should be untouched. The deck would be dead without that unnecessary hit.

      They have a Snake-Eye Diabellstar that makes the field a 3off. Hitting Original doesn't kill the deck, it just makes it fair by cutting both Fire King and Synchro variants so you don't just rely on a 1 card 7 interruptions board while you also get space for 15+ non-engine.
      IMO this is a direct upgrade to SHS (in quality and NOT ceiling) that was also hit very early because it would promote a toxic format if only Ariseheart was banned.

      The deck has no real combo lines if Original is banned. (1) Poplar would get you nothing useful when normal summoned (no, temple does nothing in this case), (2) Ash ends on a link 2 pass unless you hard opened birch or bonfire, (3) you can't play the Diabellestar engine with PHNI support only, (4) The deck already has few starters and can brick on non-engine. Without the wanted engine, it even bricks harder.

Also, Konami announced that an Anime/Manga is in the works and one of the Lores that is going to be featured is the Diablestarr Lore (and they can't simply go and do the Firewall Dragon kind of ban since this Anime/Manga is not going to be based on Duels like Vrains was, but based on Lores)

So we are going to see cards that just recover from being countered in the same turn. When the game state that can have up to 3+ negates, bounce, spin, ect. The only way around it is decks that just play through it. That or ban/limit some cards that are causing the need for such cards to be made. What bothers me most is Konami went against their own words to do their best to not make tier 0 decks, but not only abandon that statement and also make their product higher rarity compared to the OCG that the secondary market makes the game pay to win. I know Konami will never make the OCG and TCG one game again, but they definitely need to do something about making competitive staple cards higher rarity on purpose to inflate the secondary market. I think we can all say that the rarity collection proved OCG-like product can succeed on both markets here in the TCG.

    My big problem with the fire engine stuff is that it renders my Rikka sunavalon deck useless. Right now RS fields a bounce, a forced tribute and a negate if your lucky. It can also floodgate all special summons if your lucky as well. if I go second I cannot break the board without a starter and if I go first and don't draw an extender in hand for either the negate or the floodgate I will always lose. In the pre sinful spoils games it was a toss up based on how I vs my opponent played our cards but here it's a guaranteed loss if I'm unlucky. The only solution I've found as an exclusively plants player (Duel links corrupted me with aroma) is to pivot off rikka and onto traptrix because i can on average throw out more interruptions that turn off cards and floodgate trap hole diabelstar with rafflesia. This seems to yield really great consistency but the games take way longer. The real question then is when will plants get our own fire archetype? Lone fire blossom is a card that could use it's own archetype that would be on theme.

    The easiest way to power down Snake-Eyes/Sinful Spoils goes as follows. Limit Wanted, Bonfire, and Diabellestar to 1. Having Diabellestar and Wanted at 1, reduces the consistency of opening Original Sinful Spoils spell card. Since Original Sinful Spoils is a hard once per turn, having 3x of them is a liability if you draw multiple in the starting hand, whereas if you limit Diabellestar and Wanted, it greatly limits the range of cards you can add/play from your deck.
    The next biggest card that needs to be hit is Flamberg Dragon. It needs to be banned. That card is beyond broken in Snake-Eyes and any fire deck that plays level 1 fire monsters that are starters. It is literally the strongest card in that deck. The Snake-Eye engine would be spared if they just ban Flamberg Dragon. Konami can print more new Snake-Eyes monsters to replace Flamberg Dragon but in a much weaker form, but in general Flamberg Dragon is the lynchpin to the really broken part of Snake-Eyes.
    Promethean Princess at 1 is fine. Helps out all Fire Decks and the best fire target with her effect to revive is undoubtedly Flamberg Dragon. Getting rid of Flamberg Dragon would fix a lot of the current issues along with limiting Wanted, Bonfire, and Diabellestar when it comes to the deck's consistency and power for the next ban list. The Snake-Eyes deck would still be strong with how easy to summon out the Snake-Eyes level 1 monsters for link summoning into Promethean Princess. Without Flamberg Dragon, makes the deck into strong but fair among the meta.

    • @babrad
      @babrad 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      - 3 limits of consistency making the deck annoyingly inconsistent will only result in either bricking or lucking out to do the full combo.
      - Banning Flamberge means the end of SE as a deck.
      - Promethean made Typhon completely irrelevant and is the card that also breaks Zealantis/Raging. Not banishing itself on revive is also busted, but triggering on "a special summon to the opponent's field" instead of "if your opponent's special summons a monster" is a prime example of how wording can make cards from "ok" to "borderline broken".

    • @voidlockdragon1406

      @@babradSnake-Eyes without Flamberge would be fine along with the limits I mentioned earlier. It would rely more on other hybrid engines like Fire Kings/R-ACE archetypes for a bit, then when more Snake-Eyes/Sinful Spoils cards get printed in future sets you know will happen, it will help the deck become more of a single archetype again eventually.
      Trust me on this, Wanted, Bonfire, and Diabellestar at 1 wouldn't make Snake-Eyes bad at all. You would still have Ash and Poplar at three to do the main combo. Also, cards like One for One spell card and Where Arf Though? spell to do a lot of the adding to make up for it. Hitting Original Sinful Spoils spell card to 1 does nothing with those cards in the game.
      The deck can still win with just the Field Spell and swarm with the level 1 Snake-Eyes. That and plus link monsters and the next Snake-Eyes/Sinful Spoil monster in Legacy of Destruction would be enough to be a Tier 1 deck. Of course they wouldn't be that strong like most decks that get heavily hit in the ban list, but it would be fairly strong and future support will just make it better in the long run.
      You can't deny that Flamberge Dragon is the unfair part of Snake Eyes right now. Like I mentioned about Princess, at 1, it would be fine especially if your opponent should have some sort of counter to her in their main deck.

Tearlaments got nuked to the ground in wave 1 of ban list, then still topping as best of Tier 1, got hit again banning the Isizhu shufflers as well. Just a matter of when and if Konami wants to weaken Snake-Eyes sooner or wait when they printed more of them before the ban list. I see them not being slow this time around and see a more reactive list hopefully.
      Limiting the easy +1 card advantage with no effort like Wanted or the banning +5 card advantage with Flamberg dragon is just going to happen. Hitting consistency cards like Diabellestar to 1 is going to happen too with them printing more Sinful Spoil spells/traps in general increasing the usefulness of that monster.
      Konami will surely make a new Diabellestar named monster to make up with the limit hit on Diabellestar just for another search target for Wanted. Pretty much the amount of support Fallen of Albaz got in around 5 cores sets (1.5 years). An early ban list would just let Konami print more good Sinful spoils/Snake-Eyes cards and not worry as much about balancing it all out with the broken stuff.

      Just like during Ishizu Tear format, the issue isn’t that the fire deck is too strong, it’s that everything else around it is too weak. Fire mirror matches are the most fun I’ve had since Ishizu Tear format with actual room for skill expression rather than the garbage of Kash/Purrley format where the game devolved into “open your counter card and immediately win.” The interaction from fire decks is perfect and way better than the negate boards you see decks like Mannadium does. The game is actually interactive again like in Ishizu Tear format. We just have the same issue again where there’s not enough decks on par with this to actually have a balanced format. I’d rather see more decks brought up to the same level as Snake Eyes or Ishizu Tear rather than regressing back to garbage like Kashtira.

    • @dariuspenner2528
      @dariuspenner2528 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Limiting Wanted is absolutely the right call. It’s a free search with no restrictions. Diabelstar isn’t a hard garnet either so being forced to run 2-3 copies instead of the standard 1 copy isn’t the end of the world.
      Hitting Sinful Spoils Snake Eyes kills the Diabelstar engine in not just SE but every deck with a decent fire target. It’s also not something you can just limit, you’d have to ban it. Which is why making the Diabelstar engine less consistent and hitting SE in another way is ideal. Poplar ban is excessive and a limit doesn’t do enough. Ash is *the* normal summon of the deck. That in tandem with other hits to the Diabelstar engine makes the deck much more susceptible to hand traps. You don’t need to kill the ceiling, just make it easier to stop. Since righg now the deck can still play through even 2 hand traps sometimes.

    • @babrad
      @babrad 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@dariuspenner2528 That free search and potential draw 1 all it can give you is a negate with Silvera if not for OSS. Also most lists run maxed out both Wanted/Diabell.
      OSS is the equivilant to hitting the SHS link 1, cutting the 15 one-card combos to 6-9 while also requiring extenders instead of making your deck 40% non-engine. Ash/Poplar/Flam shouldn't be touched, while that hit in OSS will also prevent SE/Sinful from being splashed everywhere. I saw comments wanting Kirin/Garunix hit instead which is ridiculous imo, while this engine promotes only degenerate stuff in Infernoble/T.G./Synchro variants (i have them all)
      SE deck can definitely be still tier 1 without OSS, Divine Temple is severely underrated. It just makes Fire King a standalone deck.

    • @dariuspenner2528
      @dariuspenner2528 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @babrad which is why you limit Wanted to cut back on the consistency of that engine. I also don’t mind that other decks can splash it. It gives a boost to decks like TG that are otherwise actual garbage and Infernoble hasn’t exactly been good without Isolde. Rogue decks can go ahead and have their splash. OSS banned outright kills that engine, whereas limiting Wanted and leaving the rest alone forces people to run more bricky cards that they’d rather search instead.
      One card combos isn’t why SE is good. The deck’s ability to combo through every single hand trap aside from Shifter is why it’s good. One card combos are inherently susceptible to hand traps unless if they’re specifically designed like Circular/Wakaushi to avoid losing to them. Limit Ash and now you open it less often and can’t just Ash into Poplar. Sure you can get to it other ways, but those other ways then open you up to hand traps. Hitting Ash also makes the deck way more fragile in the grind game, which is half the reason why SE Fire King is as dominant as it is. The issue isn’t playing into the board, it’s playing into the board knowing full well you have to deal with it all over again the next turn as well because the resource loop is so tight. I’d rather hit consistency and make the deck more fragile to hand traps so a combination of lower impact hand traps like Veiler, Crow, Ash, Belle, etc. is enough to slow them down. That still lets the deck be playable without gutting the only thing making a bunch of rogue decks viable. I also hard disagree that SE would still be good without OSS. You’d have to replace 8 cards in deck if that gets banned because there’s no real reason to play the Diabelstar package at that point. There’s not enough worthwhile stuff to replace it and you’d end up with so many more games where you brick on non engine, which is reminiscent of Kashtira format and is just horrible Yugioh.

    I really disagree with the of Banning OSS would instantly kill the deck, besides that I agree with the hits, i would also hit the fire king cards on top of the snake eyes hits.
    Kirin being limited would be a good hit towards fire king

      If you hit OSS, neither Snake Eyes, Fire Kings, nor Sinful Package need another hit. Hitting Kirin is absurd because without bridging into Ponix you need to hard draw into FK engine, which is completely fair on its own. We have YCS Bologna to show this off.
      Wanted/Diabel will have other Sinful Spoils to interact with since this is the "lore" and we even get a new target in LeDe using Diabellze and illusion. So hitting OSS is not only a balancing move, it also promotes future sales, a win-win for Konami.

    Anti-Spell is definitely gonna be limited, and to that extent, Summon Limit, also. Frankly, fire decks for the moment are gonna cook while they can, and then the Bestowed Dragons will run the ones. Gonna have to find my Trident Dragion soon so I don't have to buy another ultra rare of it.

    honestly these hits wouldnt stop either version from being the best deck. Ban the floodgate though. I think people just enjoy snakes and are opting for it over other decks that could potentially win. It doesnt help that konami nerfed every other competitive deck right before this. Limit/semi-limit Ash and/or hit the diabellestar engine, attacking sinful spoils snake eyes is fine too but I wouldn’t ban it imo. Personally don’t believe in completely killing decks and banning sinful spoils snake eyes essentially does that. Would rather hit the consistency of the engine like limiting/semi-limiting ash and/or hitting the main Diabellestar engine.

    I'd hit Snake-Eye Ash over Wanted, especially if you ban Original Sinful (which makes Diabellstar much weaker, Snake-Eye decks can still use her for a negate with Betrayal, which is fine). Limiting Ash means they often have to play into Droll to get going with Bonfire, or play more extenders to get deck access. Might be overkill though since the Original hit would do a huge number on the Deck.

    No, people were siding those three cards constantly depending on which deck they played. Those floodgates benefit them and hurt their opponent depending on the matchup. Which is exactly why Anti-Spell needs to get hit. Maybe even Summon Limit too once people start abusing that.

    6:46 imo this could go to 1 and it would be fine, I agree with the wanted limit. Ban promethian princess, not likely to happen since it just released but without the promethian it hits all fire strategies at once and tbh promethian princess just lowers skill ceiling of games, summon 3 monsters summon promethian then summon anything basically from grave along with interruption it’s pretty obvious what the problem card is

  • @yamiangelous
    @yamiangelous 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    the bigger problem with the overall "strength" of this deck is outside of the "3 of" cards most of the engine is just 1 of monsters that don't care what kind of interaction that you use, which is the same reason why Tear was so good didn't matter what you did it could just churn out more then your handtraps can eat up and that's the honestly it's the flaw in the game has as it has been so far.
    And since it only has the at most "1 ofs" for alot of the engine you can cram in so much non-engine interuptions that its like "ok so can you play thru 4 points of interaction" and eat thru there turn instead..
    So short of doing a old yeller like they did with Tear (with most of the ishizu gone you could probably let up on the leash a bit) I don't think this is gonna go anywhere
    Alot of deck's just honestly need the same strength of in archtype support and not get kneecapped (like airlifter was) by konami to push sales of new product...

    As much as i think a banlist is needed. Im not somone that wants to always want banlists to solve the meta game sometimes we just need to deal with the bad period. Yugioh players will complain about whatever the format is. The foramt prior to phnm was very good and open.
    The best way to deal with this is similar to what they did with tear they need to give the deck a good period of time to be played. As people have spent a lot of money on the deck. However, hopefully they can find a way to hit the deck keeping it the best deck but just reducing it power so more decks can be played. The main solution to this problem is for konami to give use more solution to decks. or to make the gap between deck less.The need to make rogue decks better and stop giving the best decks everything
    Like why the hell is princes generic, doesnt negate what it summons, doesnt banish itself when it brings itslef back from grave and is only a continues restiction to fires. I thought we would of learned this with gaurdgradons.

    This is tough
    Personally i feel like the format need maybe two ycs's to see what happens before and emergency banlist
    But i think depending on how dominant the fire decks become in those next two events will determine direct hits or indirect but still useful
    Kind of hoping that if we get an e banlist they just decide to semi limit dibellstar or wanted but give time for the people who bought these expensive cards to use them

    Maybe the Anti-Spell hit is something, but that's not the main problem of this format. Maybe hitting SE Ash to 1 or 0, but then again, you just hit consistency and that's it (Maybe losing Ash would make the deck too weak? I can't really say, I think it would still be playable with 3 Bonfire, 1-3 Original, Poplar, Wanted Engine and Prosperity). An E-List could be good, but I just don't see it. Konami didn't do anything in Tear 0 Format so why would they now?
