It definitely has forgiveness. When I miss hit it out the toe it comes out dead straight with no spin and gets out there a good distance as well. I definitely think it’s more forgiving then last years version.
Great review many thanks
Nice one Matt , I’ve had my Stealth 2 for 3 months now and love it , having only ever had Pings before.
I have a Stealth 2 Plus. It is now gathering dust in my closet. I hit it really far but couldn’t control where the ball goes. I have since reinstated my OG SIM to its rightful place.
It would be interesting to see other brands with the same test and compare the difference.
Please tell me you bought that dry shampoo yourself
i play a TSR3 and love it.. i loved my M4 and the sim 2 but did not like either stealth
Great video, Matt! Glad to see someone do the "fargiveness" test with the Stealth 2+ that I actually trust! No offense to Taylormade, of course, but they're not going to come out and say "the driver we just released is crap, don't buy it" even if that was the honest case.
I tried Stealth 1 and saw a gain in distance, i believe it was 6 yds extra on average. 6 yds for £500 here in the UK it just wasnt worth it overall. I continued with my TM sim. Recently tried Stealth 2 plus, was expecting much the same as before. Dispersion was so tight it was almost unbelieveable, but distance saw zero gain over the Sim. I really liked it, the shape, the colour and the finish. Did i like it more than my present driver? Of course but not for an extra £550 😂. I totally agree Matt, the Stealth 2 plus is much better than the first one.
Yeah I do like the white spray test. I'm going to give that a go for sure. I like the visual look. Excellent way to practice your Draw and Fade shots. Forgiveness, check!
I keep a can of foot spray in my bag when I got to the range..very helpful to see where you are striking it without having to get the old fashioned impact stickers…the foot spray is key because it’s not oily…just a powder…
I bought a Paradym triple diamond this year. Not only has it given me more yards, its definitely stopped me losing distance on off centre hits. I think a lot of brands have figured this out this year.
To echo some of the other comments, it would be great to see the same test with something like the Ping G430, which is considered the most forgiving driver of late, to see just how different it performs in the same test.
I have the stealth 1 plus and I love it
I'm surprised this is the first time you hit the Stealth 2. I've been playing the Stealth 2 Plus for the last four or five months and I have not regretted the purchase. I tried out the original Stealth and, to be honest, wasn't that thrilled with it. It wasn't awful, just not what I thought a 600 dollar club should be.
I was struggling with the Mavrik so I was looking for a driver and the Stealth 2 was the last on my list. I hit most of the other brands and, like before, they were fine but there wasn't anything that I thought made them worth the outlay of money over the old Mavrik. Then I tried the Stealth2 Plus. I was having a bad swing day, hitting more toe and heel than normal (which is saying a lot) and it had the most consistent flight of any of the clubs. I was punished less by the STealth 2 than any other driver at the time with the exception of the Ping 430 Max. The STealth 2 Plus was not that far off from it and it was about 15 yards farther, even on bad hits.
So I bought it. I can't say it revolutionized my game but it doesn't destroy me when I'm not hitting the ball particularly well.
Good review .
Great looking club and I'll happily play it if TaylorMade will give me one LOL
Nice review Matt - keep up the good work
Well done matt 👏 😊
Very cool test…thought not sure why they didn’t cover the middle with spray so you could see if/how much of the ball was hitting the middle? That part didn’t make sense to me…but the rest was very helpful.
Great video Mr Fryer! Be good to see the stealth 2 HD hit out of the heel to see if it really can straighten out that slice.
It won't 👌
Have to say I absolutely love mine. Added 5-10 yards but 20%+ more FIR. Cant fault it, HCI 17 so no a consistent striker by any means.
Great review, how'd you go hitting it out of the middle? Or is that a up coming video? Finchy bombs his a mile! I'm still playing the m1 gen 1! Seems a decent upgrade. Thoughts.?
I got the STEALTH 2 PLUS yesterday to replace my Stealth HD. Holy Cow what a driver.
Matt! I've spent 5 mins trying to scrub off that mark next to the mini watering can on ya wall in the studio 😂
Never tryout one too much money burmt sometime in the future. Thanks for the review
Nice test Matt, will you game it compared to your current mizuno??
Any videos coming up playing the bracken and hotckin ?
Matt. There’s a little black spot on the wall just to the right of the top shelf behind you. Could you do something about that? Couldn’t hear a thing you said in your video because I couldn’t stop focusing on that thing
I so love my Stealth 2 Plus, I average 270 carry but seem to only lose avg 15 yards on a toe or heal strike. Last year with my Rogue St Max LS same avg carry but bad strikes I saw around 25 yards loss. I don't think the Stealth 2 Plus is getting the overall respect just cause the over hype from the 1st Stealth.
Is that dry shampoo your own there Matt 😂
I found toe strikes to be forgiving with the Stealth 2, but heel strikes were still a bit pot luck as to where it went or distance it carried. But very little difference between my Stealth and Stealth 2 in overall performance and definitely not enough difference to upgrade for the price
Technically Callaway had a carbon face driver but it was dog water so no one remembers it.
Yeah I remember it, totally off memory here I think it was called C4. It was proper DS.
Have a C4, can confirm DS.
I still keep seeing weird ball flights with the stealth 2. Same with og stealth. Something still off w carbón face. They haven’t perfected it yet.
I hit the Callaway Rogue and it gives the same forgiveness as you were showing. I definitely hit it all over the face so it’s not necessarily a Stealth thing.
Haha I just brought 2 pieces Stealth 2 for fun ( 2 difference skin of limited edition of Ryder cup team USA & EU , red & blue ) looks fantastic ! But I am so disappointed with the feel , sounds and distance , from my existence usage of Ping 425 max
Matts definition of a heel and toe strike at times would be classed as a good strike by your average golfer lol. New drivers are nice and shiny, and the new technology helps with forgiveness a little bit, but the increases year on year are not worth changing for unless you are a very low handicap player or work in the golf industry and can get them for free or a big discount.
So are other drivers any different? 🤔
I do that test every time I play.......just not intentionally 😂😂
Careful on hitting it too much on the toe, the face will start separating, ask your mate Finchy. Also it's too bad that you can't get the Tiger face to test side by side.
Everyone I know that have hit both the stealth and stealth 2, say the original is not only better looking, but a more consistent club. Including myself. But to each their own
The new callaway is better imo
Different people prefer different clubs! Mickelson took out his Paradym and put a G430 in his bag the other week.
but is it stll worth the price.. to much for my blood
Will it go in the bag?
I’ve seen about 5 stories of the head breaking! Peter Finch I believe was 2 of them.
Yeah, at extreme speeds its possible to break the club but out of the 1000's being used its a bit on a non issue.
@@theythinkimmadyouknow there’s a lot of reports on various forums of them breaking. Peter Finch is hardly extreme speed! A friend with a swing speed of approximately 110mph has seen his break. Go read some.
@@andybt3989 I have, and as I say its a very low number, you originally said 5, I cant find that many but sure if I dig I might even be able to get to double figures. But not enough to even remotely consider this a trend. If you google any driver you will find a handful that have broken in a variety of situations. Guess nothings perfect huh?
Matt...I think the way to test if this was bought is who at their club has this in Thier bags...Matt at my club I've seen one person with it...also most members have the ping and paradym ....on one of the TM open days 15 people went not one person bought the driver 🤷 tells you everything about it mate imho ..I think the sim2max was better driver mate
If only I had the money to buy one 😆
Don't buy the ping or paradym
Would you put it in the bag Matt?
Too bad only 2 stikes counted. The ball had to be completely missing the unsprayed circle. When you only get part of the ball out of the sweet spot its bot going to be that bad. Much like most drivers in the last few years. You are too good a ball striker Matthew!
Im more suprised Matts got hairspray
Forums are full of people with face popping or separating problems . Fine if you bought new ..you get a replacement but if you bought 2nd hand your screwed taylormade don’t honor the warranty if your not the original owner / bought from official retailer with necessary paperwork etc. Useless when there is a known problem.
Sorry Matt, Another video I had to turn off for now many times you filled the word air with the word 'actually'
2 or 3 what?
Similar to the SIM and SIM 2.
Very impressive but my bank account will be impressed too.
Give it three months and the face will fall out; proof gained
Nice test , fargiveness confirmed!
Watch the face doesn't come off !
No sweet spot numbers
A little bit has changed…Peter Finch broke 2 faces… something wrong with design.
It's all good until the face falls off.
Fargiveness gives me the cringe 😬 😂
Please take this as constructive feedback, not just a dickhead TH-cam commenter doing their thing.
Testing of a club done in isolation is, (let’s say) iffy, at best. Using a test for a club devised by that clubs manufacturer doesn’t help with the impartiality.
You’ll naturally adapt to how a club performs over the course of the testing and will produce better shots as a result.
I’d love to see a golf channel do comparative testing rigorously. Or at least as rigorously as is reasonable.
By all means, use the Fargiveness test, but do it for 3 or 4 drivers on the same day, alternating between them for each shot.
That way you’ll take your body’s instinctive adaptation out of the equation and really put the technologies that these companies want us to pay $600 to the test against each other.
Terrible looking driver, it’s not a great driver when some of the Taylormade staff players were putting old Sim drivers etc back in the bag
These new clubs feel like swinging a feather at the ground. The club would gaurantee a forgiving face if you've no clue what just took place while swinging it. Not a fan. This club simps a 5'7 pro and novice player alike.
