Then we will go to the los Angelas wholesale fashion district so I can show you how it all works and what to expect when you visit!

In my country Indonesia we have our own wholesale fashion district, it's called Tanah Abang - actually it's one of the biggest fashion wholesale district in South East Asia. This vlog truly fascinates me because each country has their own style of fashion district yet it's so familiar since the system are practically the same. My parents owned 2 stores selling wholesale fashion there, we actually produce our own products and I'm currently helping running the 2nd store. We used to accept orders from big companies as well (maybe not into thousands, but hundreds definitely) It's my dream to one day opening my very own boutique, despite my family's business I actually learnt so much from your videos too. I've been shopping at Fashion district since forever! I started going when I was 6 and my mom bought for her stores and now I just launched my own brand last month and got to go back after 5 years of not going.
Thank you for the education. I started a subscription box brand and I'm so discouraged when it comes to sourcing. It's a challenge sourcing small quantities. Most vendors want you to spend a lot. Thanks for being so open, this video validated that small quantities are possible. I just have to find vendors who aren't trying to rob my startup (that makes nothing starting out) and will work with my small quantities until I grow.

Thanks for sharing Alli. I attended the Coiterie and Cabana Show NY last month. You would absolutely LOVE that show. Personally, I found it overwhelming and it wld take 5-6 days to cover but it’s only open for 3. I’m so glad that I didn’t spend the money to fly into LA for the show but I would love to hit the LA market places and shop. The hats are fantastic that you bought great great selection and I actually love the cactus earrings since I’m relocating to Scottsdale I’ve got to find those and get them for my boutique anyway thank you so much oh that I really enjoy your videos you’re really good and I wish you continued success.
Hey Darlene, Ive also been to the Coiterie and Cabana Show and absolutely LOVE it! To help with the overwhelm for 2020 shows, you can check out the vender list for the show ahead of time and see which venders interest you most. This way you have a set plan going into the shows, and won't feel as overwhelmed. Hope this helps!
Tamara Lynn Hello Tamara. I did plan but I just couldn’t focus. The best thing O did was bring 2 good friends with me who are retailers, we split up and they found some awesome vendors for me. I sell high end so they really found things more for them but it was a win win for all. Thank you so much for your suggestions and I report to meeting you. I’ve not been to LA Market week but been to the wholesale district and had so much fun looking around. I’m planning to go again next year.
I’ve been to those showrooms and they are honestly the most beautiful things I have ever seen. They’re very exclusive and you can tell these items are sold in big names stores like Nordstrom’s.

this looks so fun and i want to start my own boutique so bad. I have what I need everywhere else but the money is the issue. How do you buy all the apparel & other items for the boutique (chairs, dressing rooms, plants, etc.) then pay employees and have profit for yourself as well?
They have business loans and grants you can apply for. Also starting online might be easiest and then using the profit to open a shop!
Would love to know if those that started online vs boutique really see a difference. When I imagine online I think of the cost of shipping , having a good storage for these clothes , promoting online , and having a website sounds so hard 😭😭😭

How do you determine what your budget is when on a buying trip? Do you only buy in the spring and fall?
What do you do when you order wholesale online and don't like the quality of the items? Can you send them back?
Have you been to New York NOW? Super cool. Some of the vendors I love are a little more exclusive and won't vend to online stores and I totally get that. Curious to hear your experience transitioning from virtual store to brick and mortar and how that enabled you to increase the brands you carry?

So for the fashion district you mentioned that you’ll more than likely have to show credentials and an invoice . Once one gets the permit , and you’re just starting so no invoices will they still let you in?
