@IronPredator12 yeah it is, but what they do is that they just name them as in standard tuning. It's the same intervals though..soo...it works either way, you just can't jam over the song itself.
I thought the same thing. Arif has got to be one of my favorite bass players, the part he plays in Sequoia Throne is absolutely mind boggling. The guy is a genious when it comes to bass.
because the splawn is by itself rather hot and boisterous whereas Tim's shaver creates a contrast by sounding rather dull and voluminous. If you split em up to a live stereo image, it'd make for a more overall diverse tone by having two different tones on each side.
They don't sound shitty together at all because you can observe and hear their obvious syncopation, just not all of the individual notes because the audio is not fully defined in this video. It does sound sadly off when they play together, but *they don't particularly *sound bad together.
@WickedSteak Yes your completely right but you also just backed up what I was saying. I meant to focus on the point that most people today only know it because Hendrix made it famous. To the majority if you say the chord they will automatically call it the Hendrix chord, he didn't create it, which is just obvious, but creating something and making something well recognised is something different all together. Unfortunately not everyone listens to Jazz any more, unless your a musician I guess.
E7#9 isn't really a Jazz chord, yes it can be used in Jazz but....it was really made famous to listeners by Jimi Hendrix... :P Just thought I'd throw that out there haha.
Not a homo but Tim seems really sweet when he says 'im playing some chords to compliment whatever Luke is doing...." Haha!! Dont worry Tim, your beard looks as cool as his playing in the video.
I went to go see them recently. I texted on my friends phone "youre music got me into college thanks!" and handed it to timmy between songs. =)I got a fist pound from timmy.
this ain't no seymour duncan pickup, this one's by the makings of ibanez. anything similar would be dimarzio (petrucci). check for the liquifier or whatever that's called. Be advised that even I by personal experience and possession of that particular guitar can tell you that this particular pickup is not ultimately satisfying. Sort of lacks a bit of grid and edges a little too clean around the outskirts of your tone. Seymour duncan has some interesting p90 alike humbuckers which i find great.
I always feel kinda sorry for Tim in these videos. Luke's doing all these sweet legato and tapping runs and then it gets to Tim "So... we got an F... then a G" lol
Arif is a beast but most of the songwriting happens by having them dudes jamming together and both Tim and Luke bringing prepared material into the sessions. But don't underestimate the bassist since a band is like a fragile chain and if one element breaks out, the chain falls apart ;)
Their guitars have whammy bars, yet I haven't heard any kind of whammy in their music. Maybe chose those instruments based on the playability, or maybe the sound.
Very interesting, but I still think the mysteries of this song comes from whatever the hell Arif is playing. He needs to make a bass playing DVD or something.
I feel kinda sorry for Tim, Luke plays those beastly tapped parts and all the really fast shit while Tim gets stuck in the background chugging power chords. Maybe that's why he has a beastly beard, to compensate.
pfff...the thing is that the chords they say aren't in the same key as the song itself, because their tuning is in D#....pffff...it's kind of annoying..
"I'm playing some chords to compliment... whatever Luke's doing." lmao
Wow, now I can do it at home! Ok... here goes nothin'!
*Dies*
Hope you're actually still alive. Been 7 years already dude.
1:38
Ok. The next part in this song is the verse...
Or what we call the verse...
x)
Eb / E flat = E standard tuning a half step lower at all strings. Both Fortress and Scurrilous are in that latter tuning.
This band's guitarists never fail to blow my mind.
@TheEurasia23 it is a 3120, they released that model a year or two ago. It is a beast and price wise is just under the 6505.
I really hope Protest The Hero will be at Warped Tour in 2013 in Oregon. I must see them and get their autographs. They're my favorite band.
Were they there?
@IronPredator12 yeah it is, but what they do is that they just name them as in standard tuning. It's the same intervals though..soo...it works either way, you just can't jam over the song itself.
Awesome. Luke sold me the Scurrilous and Fortress tab books when I seen them back in April. These guys are sick.
They're such nice, polite fellows!
I thought the same thing. Arif has got to be one of my favorite bass players, the part he plays in Sequoia Throne is absolutely mind boggling. The guy is a genious when it comes to bass.
i really think these guys r aliens they take progression to the next level
+ray totally bro...
@urinalcakesaretasty I was thinking that too, sounds like it. I can't figure out the last two sweeps/arpeggios, damnit!
they should do this kind of videos for bass too
why would he go from a caparison/ltd/ibanez to a peavey guitar :/
because the splawn is by itself rather hot and boisterous whereas Tim's shaver creates a contrast by sounding rather dull and voluminous. If you split em up to a live stereo image, it'd make for a more overall diverse tone by having two different tones on each side.
Tim's so metal he has to have an input jack going into his beard.
I like how Luke guitar sound,can someone tell me which Seymour duncan bridge is he using?
They don't sound shitty together at all because you can observe and hear their obvious syncopation, just not all of the individual notes because the audio is not fully defined in this video. It does sound sadly off when they play together, but *they don't particularly *sound bad together.
@Jackhayes123 Just a half step down, like all of their other songs. Good luck!
@oobinkey mostly a splawn nitro. these vhts are rather dry humper he rarely employs.
Ibanez Prestige S-5470 TKS. Best model in my opinion that I've played so far by ibanez, chunky as hell but yet defined.
they need the cool tab display like in the sequoia throne lesson
@WickedSteak Yes your completely right but you also just backed up what I was saying. I meant to focus on the point that most people today only know it because Hendrix made it famous. any chance of moe ever doing drum tabs/lessons?
@jedimastergarcia87 Nope, it's in Eb. :)
"whatever Luke's doing," huh? That's about how I'd describe it too lol.
Only Luke knows what Luke is doing lmfao
How much gear is behing the guitarist for maybe just that one song, haha. I thought the rack gear was a lot until I saw the two VHT heads!
anyone know what kind of strat the rhythm guy is playing? looks sick
+Isan Simpson It's not a Fender Strat but I'm not familiar with the brand so I'm of no help hahaha
+Isan Simpson Might be a custom Suhr
+Isan Simpson It's a custom Peavey
5:13 tims so cozy
@glint20 He does that to make it easy to understand...
E7#9 isn't really a Jazz chord, yes it can be used in Jazz but....it was really made famous to listeners by Jimi Hendrix... :P Just thought I'd throw that out there haha.
That verse sounds like a part of Letter Experiment by Periphery.
Not a homo but Tim seems really sweet when he says 'im playing some chords to compliment whatever Luke is doing...." Haha!! Dont worry Tim, your beard looks as cool as his playing in the video.
are they playing 1/2 step down?
You sure that's the stock Ibanez pup? Looks a lot like a DiMarzio Crunchlab to me.
@asipodroks
That's a VHT Sig:X
I went to go see them recently. I texted on my friends phone "youre music got me into college thanks!" and handed it to timmy between songs. =)I got a fist pound from timmy.
I'm pretty nooby with guitars.. How does one achieve tone such as Luke's in this video? :s
tim's guitar?
Which S series Ibanez is that?
HOLY FUCK THAT BEARD IS AWESOME
So is this song in standard e tuning then?
@5:00 I hear some "Turn Soonest to the Sea"
What type of guitar is Tim playing in this video?
whats the tuning in this song?
Eb Standart! (Eb - Ab - Db - Gb - Bb - eb), like all their song i think! :D
I remember watching you live at a bar and getting to meet you when i was 10 :)
What VHT amp is Luke using?
@EnglishSteel2347
Really. They seem to be playing incredibly tight to me and I'd love to see you do better.
They make it look so damn easy.
this ain't no seymour duncan pickup, this one's by the makings of ibanez. anything similar would be dimarzio (petrucci). check for the liquifier or whatever that's called. Yearsss of practice.
@IGNsucks lol yeah. I pronounce it "Meer-ab-dole-bahg-he"
staring at tim's face while he's talking makes me laugh and lol spot the hidden headphones
What amp is Luke using?
@stiftler2k4 Yup.
Any tabs online for this? i could really use them ;)
Google
I always feel kinda sorry for Tim in these videos. Luke's doing all these sweet legato and tapping runs and then it gets to Tim "So... we got an F... then a G" lol
check out Laney's brand new Ironheart.
@b00sh thanks man!
Does anybody notice tims beard is plugged in???? O_o
@Orangemongoose1 I agree, all the way.
what tuning is this? :)
@DomWantsYourLove Yes, Peavey 3120 they are fucking amazing amps, i have one and it's the bet $1000 bucks I ever spent, got a free cab with it too.
its a crunchlab
Arif is a beast but most of the songwriting happens by having them dudes jamming together and both Tim and Luke bringing prepared material into the sessions. But don't underestimate the bassist since a band is like a fragile chain and if one element breaks out, the chain falls apart ;)
I'm sure you're an expect on guitar tones. Also have you considered that maybe the audio that was captured was not leveled properly?
Their guitars have whammy bars, yet I haven't heard any kind of whammy in their music. Maybe chose those instruments based on the playability, or maybe the sound.
Kezia just has 3 Drop Db songs, otherwise its Eb as well
why's that one dude resemble jonathan frakes
+binocular bard lol.
+binocular bard I see it! I also see Jim from The Office.
haha holy shit
I like how Tim talks here. It's like I'm watching Sesame Street with guitars.
i really didnt get the intro... couldnt he play it slower xD
"I realize we didn't cover every riff in Hair-trigger"...but that's 'cause there's a lot of fucking riffs in Hair-Trigger.
Very interesting, but I still think the mysteries of this song comes from whatever the hell Arif is playing. He needs to make a bass playing DVD or something.
Thank you sir :)
they look like dimarzio liquifire and crunch lab
2:32
LUKE... YOUR HAND IS A SQUID.
it looks like a dimarzio crunch lab
@nemesis90ish that's what it's all about ;)
best*
The dwarf is really good :DD
holy shit u need ALOt of gain, and btw, nice beard man, im loving it!!! \m/
I do the same thing with my feet that Tim does LMAO
ahh cheers man :D
I FUCKING LOVE YOU GUYS!!! :D
Tim, teach me guitar.
"No products found."
Timmy seems like the nicest dude, and I agree they don't sound great together in this clip.
Totes do the same thing with my feet as Tim.
I think Jesus lives in Tim's beard.
I feel kinda sorry for Tim, Luke plays those beastly tapped parts and all the really fast shit while Tim gets stuck in the background chugging power chords. Maybe that's why he has a beastly beard, to compensate.
i didnt know santa was a ginger
Online tabs are always so wrong
Fuckin' jazz chords in a Mathcore song I LOVE YOU
I came!
BIG FISHHH
i hate how easy luke makes it look...
They cut their hair...
pfff...the thing is that the chords they say aren't in the same key as the song itself, because their tuning is in D#....pffff...it's kind of annoying..
