- A woman in Iowa is accused of trying to poison her husband by spiking his drink with eye drops not once - but twice. Daisy Zantjer’s husband reported the alleged poisoning after he was sent to the hospital. Law&Crime’s Elizabeth Millner breaks down the case and explains what Zantjer confessed to while in police custody.

In 1984 I went to an R&R club and ordered a Jack & Coke and a Bud. Within five minutes I felt very sick...I was a young man in prime health. It took everything in me to drive home where I stayed curled up, vomiting, and sweating for two days. Around 2000 at my neighborhood bar, the bartender told me what she did to a guy who was flirting with her and then ignored her for another woman. The next time I saw him he explained that he had gotten very sick and his experience mirrored my own. It was then that I knew how I was poisoned so many years ago. I have never ordered food delivered to my house and cannot understand why people do it. There are too many nasty, angry, evil people out there.

I cook every day for my family. We very rarely eat out and it's usually at places that we know the owners well, because we live in a very rural area where everyone knows everyone. Glad you are ok.

Why are eye drops okay to.put in your eyes, but poisonous if ingested?
I’m not sure if it’s the regular eye drops or the ones you use for eye infections and whatnot. But I instantly had the same thought lol

My best friend at the time, a long time ago, had a sister who'd been to culinary school and was the head chef in a chic French restaurant in Washington DC, and when they had "difficult" clients who'd send their food back, they all used to put eye drops in the food. It was like a well known thing with restaurant staff! I had absolutely no idea at the time that it could be lethal!!!
