I did something similar for my Garmin Zumo XT. I ran it under the tank. Your method works just as well. I had the tank off anyway to install the Screamin Eagle air filter. Nice neat job. Cheers
Thanks for the vid. I basically did everything you did and now I have USB ports. Kinda lazy on the part of any manufacturer who doesn't have these standard with their vehicles.
@@dannytattooflash that’s not true. It was that way on the first model year but they changed it in 22 to allow both. Software updates change this configuration for the early models. But FYI, I no longer own the Pan America.
I guess the only thing I’d suggest is running the wire down after it comes out. You can go straight through the frame there and out the front of it. That way the wire is concealed more. Otherwise a quick way to run the wire! Nicely done!
I was contemplating running it under the gas tank but didn’t want to go through that hassle. I figured the console had to come off first so it was easy enough just to unplug the harness at both ends, remove the harness with the console, and then go about the rest of the maintenance.
@@retiredbiker Totally understand, I put the AUX lights on and the air filter on. I've since wired up another bike and removing the tank is much easier now after doing so a few times. It's a pretty bad design choice on Harley to use a hose clamp you need to cut but its just for the tank overflow.
Very helpful to another retired biker from Canada. Thanks.
Thanks for watching. I’m glad this helped.

I did the same thing to provide power for my ZumoXT GPS, which is ram-mounted to the handlebar. It’s worked well for the past year.
@François Landry I used heat shrink self-solder butt splice connectors to permanently join the ZumoXT wires to the wires from the SAE plug.
very nice and clean. thank you for sharing.
Very nice video! Thank you.

Excellent video, thanks
glad it helped. Not everyone wants to take the tank off to add a poer source.
🎉 11,000 views 🎉 nice man keep it up!
The USB - C on the Pan America dash is for diagnostic purposes only. Not for charging.
