- Day 1 of the 5000km trip from Bristol in the UK to Türkiye. I leave Bristol and my family with a bit of nerves and a lot of excitement. Never done more than 1 night away on the bike. I know my 1994 Thunderbird can get me 400km but can it do that everyday for 12/13 days straight without problems? Only one way to find out. I point my bike in the Kent direction and start the journey, with no idea where I will camp that night, just knowing I'll be in Belgium at some point later that day.
All things go well until just 10 meters before my camp site pitch! A bit of plastic grid in the grass gets the better of me and I'm already facing my first challenge of the trip. Thankfully cable ties, a few tools get me by.

There’s nowt in life more exciting then a motorcycle adventure, especially solo travelling. I am off for 6-weeks around the EU.
That sounds like an amazing adventure. 6 weeks too!! Enjoy mate.
Really enjoying your channel, just watched the Stelvio pass video ❤that looked fantastic. Keep up the good work 👍👍👍 ( we spoke to you at the Range on Sunday )
Thanks mate. Was good to meet you briefly. Been so busy recently that the channel hasn't had much love! Looking forward to a bit more time soon. Glad you're enjoying the episodes. Can't wait for the next adventure.
Loving this so far, just subbed, great footage, great story, great editing. Look forward to following your journey 👍🏻
That's great to hear, thanks for joining! The return journey was a lot of fun too, bit challenging at times, but an amazing experience.
Loved this!! 😊
Nice one, good to see your adventure!
Yes Mat!! 💪🏍️
Nice video. Keep them coming.
Thank you my friend.
Brilliant mate, really enjoyed watching this, sorry about the indicator incident. My black 95 Tbird was sold only around a month or so before yours. amazing!! ill watch the rest of your journey now 😎
Thanks for the message mate. One of those silly lay-downs, kind of embarrassing. Hope you enjoy the rest of the journey. Cheers.
Safe ride and enjoy your adventures much respect
Thank you my friend.
Så kjekt å se 😊
Nice video! Much less music :).
Thanks mate. Trying to find that balance between funky music and less funky music. It's hard! Haha.
@@thebristolthunderbird your selection of music is fine, just a little too loud :)
Me and the Mrs having an argument about what your accent is. I say Welsh she says Bristolian?
Born and bred Bristolian but lived in Scandinavia for about 13 years in total, spoke only Swedish and Norwegian that whole time. Think that took a bit of the edge off the twang! You can stop arguing now and have a lovely evening! Haha. Thanks for the comment, hope you're enjoying the episodes.
The thunderbird loves a drop of e5. Dosent like the e10
I’ve heard they don’t like the e10, although I’ve had the carb upgrade to be able to take it without any issue (apparently).
@@thebristolthunderbird me too. Keep it running through winter is a good thing. Great bikes
VERY BORING
Lots more to follow, hope you're ready to get even more bored! Haha. All the best mate, please keep commenting .
Guess ill be doing this with the new car ill be buying and taking to Turkey !!
Good ride my fellow Thunderbird rider. Quick question for you. I would like a black and silver registration plate for my Thunderbird but my local bike shop told me they were illegal? How do you get away with it? Cheers.
Yes they are not fully legal unless you have a vintage bike. I got mine online, Amazon I think. You need to state that it if for show purposes only, (which mine obviously is, only for pictures...) Around £25 I think, can't remember exactly.
