  • This video is an adventure. After a year 2yrs of studying every type of Aquatic plant from around the world; then studying tropical fish, then spent a year perfecting Neocaridina Davidi Shrimp. This was our final challenge. The all mighty Caridina shrimp. And this is just the beginning of that journey.

    It’s kendra. (I’ll stop announcing after this 🤣) Great video thank you!!!!! I’m tackling some neocardinia here soon. Waiting for the tank to cycle properly. I’m thinking blue dream 🤷‍♀️

      It's perfectly ok you told me who you are. Lol
      Blue Dreams are great! You can actually mix them with black Neo's because black isn't black. It's an extremely dark blue.
      I mixed mine blue dream with black Rilis and ended up with 7 different species of Neo's.

      One other thing. Even after it's cycled wait several more weeks until bio film has covered your glass. Shrimp are dependent on it. Especially the babies. It'll take them 2-3 months before they're comfortable enough to start breeding. However, you could get lucky and end up with one already pregnant.
      Don't be shocked if the seller gives you nothing but juveniles. It's common practice because they have short life spans. If they give you adults. They may only have a month or 2 before they die.

    I think the tank at Joe’s
    shrimp Shack had some Crypt Spiralis Tiger in it and I need that plant! What color are the caradinas when they cross breed?

    • @yourtap
      @yourtap  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know (YET) the whole Caridina shrimp genetics. I've got Neo's down.
      Procrastinating the most difficult part to comprehend I save that for after I've learned perfect conditions for breeding.
      There was something important I needed to know before willy nilly mixing them. You most definitely can. Neo's all come from the color brown. (In a nutshell)
      Caridinas come from red and black. All I learned so far is to pick a side. If you explore red side. Stick to that color and the colors that come from that color. Lol
      Shits confusing to me at first. What we went with are 4 types. Red Tigers, PRL, Red Bolts, and Blue Bolts.
      Next week we're getting 40 more. We'll make a video.
      That Crypt Tiger he has. That was one of the first questions I asked him. He got it off a friend who propagates it. He wouldn't tell me who.
      I have zero clue where to score that plant. I want it every time I see it. If I hear where to find some I'll definitely tell you. Do me a solid and you do the same if you happen to bump into a retailer that does.

      @@yourtap there is a guy selling crypt Tiger on EBay, I’ve been waiting for the price to come down, and it is $30 for 2 plants, I’ll probably order it next week with the warmer temperatures in the forecast.
