Fast and cheap tank dedicated for Neocaridina shrimp breeding.
Awesome
Can you keep cherrys in 1 gallon?
I wouldn't. Very small tanks are difficult to keep stable and shrimp really need stability in order to create sustainable colony.
what is the tank size in feet
Missed opportunity to call it the shrimple tank.
Omg… that would be so good…
Im gonna remember that?
The simplest yet coolest shrimp tank
Thanks! :)
Finally, something i can actually do without a whole tonne of landscaping
Well, Java fern grows like a weed for me lol. But it floats or gets stuck on Java moss or anubius roots so it’s not that bad
Just remember, if the gravel is light, then developing juveniles will grow lighter in colour to feel more hidden. Black substrate is best if u want the bright popping colours

Nice tank!
Thanks!
Add two leaves like you did and have another two outside for a week prior in old tank water, hope the water turns green, get your slimey leaves and add them shrimp love these
Hi, thanks for the tip! Shrimp are already breeding like crazy in this tank ;)
*slimy
Ty for this I have been looking for shrimp set ups but not for breeding so I think I’ll add stuff to this idea Ty
First time I've seen a sponge filter like that
They are great because they are taking much less space without sacrificing any filtration capabilities. It's much better use of space :)
Loved this simple set up I'm definitely doing this for my cherry shrimp 😊
Cool! :)
Good job!
I love shrimps. Critters are fast.x
Nice video thanks 😊
Thank you :)
You could probably get away with keeping it next to the window and only using the moss ball for further simplification. Yes, it’ll be messier, but if you only need it to work, shrimp allow you to minimize to a much lower level.
I’d say just sponge filter and Java moss is technically enough for a barebones setup, shrimp are really forgiving and need really little to survive, grow, and be happy. Beech leaves serve as an additional food source, gravel is considered more of an upgrade to the plant and bacterial loads than a necessity, a dirt layer underneath would really boost that if you’re going to go down that route. You could technically use any plant trimmings you get for free if we’re talking about gravel, even the “shrimple setup” has a couple layers to it.
God bless you bro
Nice tank but I'll recommend getting some type of stem plant or more moss
I swear setting up a bigger tank is so much easier than like a small tank like a 5 gallon
Yes, there is some truth in that :)
what was the pellet the shrimp was eating?
Jungle fury theme 👀
Beautiful Tank. Nicely done. How many Shrimp you have now in this tank?
I have rebuilt it few weeks back. I started with 12 shrimp in this tank. After they were breeding there was like 40-50 and I started to move them to other tanks, so numbers were changing a lot. At max I think there was around 60.
@@AquascapingCube Inspiring. I will try to make one like this. Thanks for your guidelines.
First great video! 👍🏼 Question. How long does it take for Shrimps to breed?
Thank you! It takes around 3 weeks for the shrimp eggs to hatch (it depends on the temp, species etc.).
Nice tank! did you just use tap water?
Thank you! Yes, it just regular tap water.
❤❤❤
Where did you get the sponge filter for the little tank?
I'm moving my neocardinas to a 6 gallon tank that came with a low flow filter because they didn't have one for less than 10g tank. The guy said it would burn out too fast.
Any thoughts?
Hi. I got it on amazon. Just look for corner sponge filter like this one: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B075BJJXDD?psc=1&ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_ct_EG98SR38Z0W8SYWF9PPP
I think that those filters are the best for shrimp. Very low flow, a lot of surface area, plus they don't take too much space in the tank.
@@AquascapingCube Thanks so much! I'll take a look at them!
I found the filter on Amazon do I need to put anything in the filter? Those bio balls.
What is the size of this tank like diameter or how much gallon is this because I have almost the same type of aquarium but I don't know what size it is
30 x 20 x 20 cm (11.8 x 7.8 x 7.8 in)
12L (3.17 US gal)
wow
Does that sponge filter already come with that size or you just cut a normal one?
It was like that from the start. It's called Corner Jet 01 Happet
What about tank cycling or do you just keep up with water changes every day to keep ammonia levels down?
I was cycling it only for 1 week. Later there was no need. Shrimp have very low bioload, and there is nothing else living in this tank. Besides all the plants were from established tanks so I guess some bacteria were on them already. And I had zero problems with ammonia from day 1.
I have a 5 gallon cherry shrimp tank never change the water once it's been a year I just add water to it I throw freshly fallen leaves from outside that haven't fallen but not on grass were there could be pesticide and I keep ghost shrimp with them and two kuhli loaches I started with 20 shrimp now I have 50 and a ton of baby's the kuhli loaches keep them from taking over the tank completely and its pretty decently planted for the babies to hide just don't over feed use sand substrate only temp75
No heater?
No. Shrimp in general prefer cool water, so room temperature is actually perfect for them. And they are breeding like crazy :)
What is the java fern growing on?
''Breeding already'' 45 days later yea
🤣
Hopefully not too late to comment but where did you get this sand / gravel ?
I just bought it on Amazon :)
Did you let the tank cycle or did you put them in straight away ?
I was cycling it only for 1 week. All the plants were from established tanks so I guess some bacteria were on them already. And I had zero problems with ammonia from day 1.
No filter is needed other than the sponge? What would be water change frequency be like?
No, sponge filter is more than enough for shrimp. Water changes are not necessary at all. I haven't made a water change in months and shrimp are all good, healthy and breeding like crazy!
What a lamp are you use? (sorry for my Bad English)
Hi! This is very cheap light: SunSun adp-80. Got it on Amazon if I remember correctly.
How long did you let your tank cycle before you actually put the shrimp in?
I was cycling it only for 1 week. All the plants were from established tanks so I guess some bacteria were on them already. And I had zero problems with ammonia from day 1.
could you link the light your using in this setup?
It was SunSun ADP-80 1,5W
Any type of beech leaf ? Wonder if that would help with guppies ? Thanks for the heads up.
Yes, they just need to be dry. I use them in many tanks and it always works (including tanks with guppies).
@@AquascapingCube I have a lot of those trees around me
@@AquascapingCube Thank you
Shrimplets
I have ghost shrimp in my local pet store. Would they be the same as these??
Hi. No, those 2 very different species. Ghosts are a bit bigger, and require little bigger tanks. Thay also like a bit cooler water.
Hi.
How many Liters is the Tank?
Hi. It’s 12L tank. 30x20x20cm.
@@AquascapingCube Thank you for the fast answer.
Free food
A rimless tank for cheap? heII no, a 1 gallon rimless will run you about $40, i'd rather buy two 10 gallons and a filter.
Damn where im at i just got a 2.5 gal rimless for 20 and a 15 for 50
Which light is this
sunsun adp-80
Where dis you buy the tank?:)
Amazon.co.uk :)
Eh what kind of mossball is that? 😮
This is just simple java moss :)
@@AquascapingCube Ah, so not a mossball then 👍😁
Shrimp are super sensitive, like anything you have to mature and cycle your tank and depending on the shrimp you need RO water. I hope no one watches this and literally just fills a tank and throws some shrimp in it 😬
I hope so as well, because this was not the intention.
RO water?
I use spring water.
What's the RO stand for?
@@cheyennecassidy4329RO stands for reverse osmosis
Way cheaper to go to the tempura restaurant.
Just a question , to who we sell the shrimps , thank you !
I just keep them or give away to my friends or their friends. I have never sold anything :P
Oh ok , Im a guy that wants to start selling shrimps do you know by any chance from where i get them and to who i sell them , thank you !
How long you cycle?
I was cycling it only for 1 week. All the plants were from established tanks so I guess some bacteria were on them already. And I had zero problems with ammonia from day 1.
You don’t need heater
No, shrimp don't really need high temperatures. My room temperature perfect for them :)
Why do you put beach leaves in there?
Look it up. It's not hard.
*Beech leaves.
Sir which shrimp would you recommend me to breed easily
Neocaridina shrimp. Red Cherry or something similar :) They are easy to keep and breed.
@@AquascapingCube i bought 6shrimps in that 3are red cherry shrimp 1is black shrimp, 2is Ghost shrimps is this enough to breed can they cross breed
@@coastalwoodgamers Ghost shrimp might prey on the young of cherry shrimp. So it might be difficult for you. And they will not cross breed. If you want high chances of breeding you should get bigger group (~10) of shrimp of the same type.
@@AquascapingCube thanks for the information
Can you tell me whether my Shrimps are male or female
Do you need a permit to sell fish
I don’t think so, people sell them on eBay :)
What size is the tank hehe
Hi. It’s 12L tank. 30x20x20cm.
So my shrimp population exploded in my big tank, we started with like 4 shrimp.. now we have over 100. Should I be worried about defects from incest or something 😂😂 (honest question)
Hi. No worries, they will be fine :) The only thing you can expect is loss of coloring in next generations. If you are not sorting out the most colorful ones - they will be mixing with more generic (brown, transparent etc) and the base color (red, blue, orange etc.) will get worse.
CO2?
No, nothing.
@@AquascapingCube will the plants die then
No. They are very slow growing. CO2 is really not necessary. And they are fine.
For a betta fish lover, these are middle and not small tank😆
Bro bu tank kaç litre?
12L. 30x20x20cm
Gravel is bad.The worst anyone can use in a tank.Beginners use gravel
Can I keep pea puffer in them ?
You mean with shrimp? No chance, pea puffers will tread them as food ;) Also this tank is to small for pea puffer.
