I'm about to start my undergraduate degree at Oxford in October, and your videos help reassure me that there are career paths for mathematicians outside of finance and teaching. Best of luck!
Congratulations Ellie on the dream job!!! You keep shining and it's so amazing to watch. Watching you evolve from Leeds to Cambridge and now to working for a space company is just incredible. 🤗
You enlightened, beautiful soul, creative words, and the owner of beautiful taste. I want to thank you for everything you offer. Really, thank you from my heart. Your high-end ideas and expressive words helped me change my life. I would like to say that you are more wonderful than I say about you.
Been watching since early on in your Undergrad. It’s incredible how quickly all this has happened, great job. I’ve just finished my first year on a BSc Computer Science & Mathematics and came out with a first. Here’s hoping I can keep the pace through next year. Analysis 2 is gonna be fun 😂
Thank you so much for your comment and for supporting me since my early TH-cam days🥺 congratulation on your results - that is insane!! Best of luck with second year! :)
That sounds exciting! Congrats on the job offer, I can't wait to watch your next videos. I'm starting my second year of college soon and you always motivate me to work harder in my maths classes.
I also had a short industry stint before I did my PhD. So even though this is late being posted, I think you're taking a good path. Hope it's been going well.
Congrats Ellie! I already knew about the job since I follow you on Instagram but another congratulations is in order. I feel like I say this every single time I comment but you honestly don't know how much of an inspiration you are. Though we're not going down the exact same path as you're interested in space and I'm not lol, but you've shown me just how much can be done with maths and I've been having ideas for what I want to do with that in the future so thank you. Looking forward to watching your videos as you move on to the next chapter of your life 💚!
Hi Ellie, Many congratulations on your new job, it sounds amazing :) I've just left a (longer) response to your reply to my comment on your previous video, but you mentioned you may not see it and that I should leave a new comment for any new questions, so I'll leave them here: I'm starting Part iii in a month and for the 'Dynamics' and Astrophysics' modules I don't know whether to prioritise revising the mathematical methods side of things, such as ODEs, PDEs, Fourier transforms, complex variable techniques like residue calculus etc, or focus on getting context in fluid mechanics, such as going over topics like waves, viscous flow, boundary layers, vortex motion etc. Would you be able to add some information in your next video about what topics you think are most relevant to know for the dynamics and astrophysics courses at part iii? It would be so helpful to hear what advice you would give to your past self! Again, thank you for all the tips you've given so far, they've been so helpful. Really loving the content so far, keep up the good work :)
Hey i’m doing maths at leeds this September and im really nervous because i dont know if my maths grades are enough to be able to cope with maths at uni [ i got A in maths and B in first year further maths ] love your videos btw!
I got an A in maths and a B in further maths and I came out top of the year in Leeds so you don't need to worry! If you met the requirements to study then you will do amazing. I spent so much time before I went to Leeds thinking I wasn't good enough because I scraped the offer to get in. As soon as I got there, I realised I was wrong. University maths is so different to A-Levels in a good way! Just go and enjoy the beauty of maths and have a good time. You'll do amazing!!
Hello, thanks for your answers, you are the first youtuber with whom I identify myself but if you want I would like to know a little more about you if you feel comfortable to compare me, but in a good way since I do not intend to match myself but I would like to know what kind of person I intend to aspire to university life since I am now a closed person, if you do not want to tell me anything then you could make a list of lessons for teenagers that you learned so that I can apply them, there are already videos like that but analyzing it does not help me much because its reality is different from mine, anyway thanks for reading
Anything you wish you had done differently? I want to do something similar to you, space and engineering, I’m just starting my alevels on Tuesday, I’m taking maths chem and physics (I plan to research further maths and potentially self teach myself). I want to do maths at uni but would any other degree be better suited or do you think maths was the best pathway to your job?
Well maths is kind of a little off for that job. Sure there are also mathematicians in the space industry but mostly (aeronautical) engineers and physicists
