Hey Me Ancient! Great to see another posting. I'm looking forward to the rest of this series. I was surprised to see that most of this MRE, had gone rancid. I agree that the strawberry jam was pretty scary looking. I kept thinking that as questionable as the meal looked, that you were pretty brave with the size of the first bites that you were taking!! LOL! Anyway I got a kick out of the John Cleese shot, very good choice. Maybe you can work in a clip of "The Ministry of Silly Walks" sometime! Have a great day guys, see ya in the next one, God bless.
Just an idea for the future, some hot water in the packet with the beans, would have hydrated the sauce and warmed them up, try it next time you get beans in a MRE that are a few years old.
Thank you for the kind words but seriously, don't feel bad having just figured out I have a channel...how did you discover it? Was it a link from one of Ace or High Adventure Videos channels? Welcome aboard and TFW!
The early 00s had some fantastic me us! They put steak sauce I a few rations. Careful with red Tasters Choice, 9 out of 10 it's moldy. Thanks for showing this one.

I was in the army from 06-14 and this was my MRE of choice followed closely with chicken and dumplings or chicken and noodles. The last year or so that I was in they started making like gourmet ones it seemed like. things like Chicken and pesto. Great videos brother! decided to go back and have a look for videos i may have missed and this was one of em!
Great video. At least you got to snack on a little something. Hurricane season coming here in south Florida im thinking about stocking up on some mre for backup.
you should consider trying out some of the mountains house freeze dried meals. my favorite is the beefstew one and the freeze dried mint chocolate chip ice-cream they make is amazing.
Justin, so far, the cold weather MREs have each had some sort of Mountain House portion of the meal. Check those out if you haven't seen them. I've done 4 total cold weather ones. TFW!
The freeze dried ice cream was always my last night of hiking treat. Or sometimes the last walking out treat of the trip. Mountain house has some lovely hiking/camping meals. Just remember to add enough water. My hub and I were just weekend hiking but my small water purifier broke and the big gravity one was taking a while to filter and we were hungry. We should have waited and drank more water. We woke up with severe stomach cramps. An older couple near us heard us up and around not feeling well came over. He knew exactly what was up. Brought over a bunch of their water and made us tea and within about 20 minutes we were fine. Hed seen it before and had heard of it on big arctic expeditions where they skimped on water, and they all ended up ill. We bought a hand crank water purifier after that as where we hiked was very wet so water wasn't an issue but cleaning it or boiling etc can be a pain. But I sure learned my lesson.
This is like fine wine right here you’re talking beef steak with mushrooms from 2006 man you’re into some good eating right here lifestyles of the Rich and famous
I think this is one of the first reviews I saw that you had to spit out that many of the components I was worried about that steak 🤣🤣🤣 awesome review as usual 👍🏾 I was sure most of it would have been in good condition coming from Alaska I gotten a few older ones from folks up there haven’t opened them yet

I have to give you a virtual medal for trying that ration! Its a shame that it all didn't hold up, it looked like a pretty sustaining meal, although I'm very surprised about the beefsteak being as ok as it was. Although most of the MRE items were a disaster but I loved it the way you salvaged the protein shake with the coffee. Pretty much like the story where you brought in an innovative idea. Thanks for the video and the story, me Ancient 🙂
I've had mixed luck with the heaters in the few MREs I've tried. Sometimes I get them to heat up really well, other times not so much. I can't believe the difference salt seems to make from what you showed. Especially from such an old MRE. The older ones seem to have problems heating up right. I've heard of that trick before, never tried it though. I'm definitely gonna try it next time I eat an MRE.
