I was at Origins in the Regency Ballroom, one table over from Jeremy Crawford and Todd Kenreck where Jeremy was running a spirited game with Todd participating. It looked like a spirited game, and mainly for the benefit of a slightly built teenager and their parent. I was very impressed that the Dean of D&D and the face of D&D Beyond would treat the youth to a game in the middle of a crowded room of games. I consider it a personal victory that I did not fanboy out and disrupt the game to lavish praise on Todd and Jeremy. I'll just do it on here: great job, guys!

Honestly one of the cool things here are that we had build up for Undermountain with The Yawning Portal, which is an entrance to Undermountain, and Xanathar had a book with his name on it
So everybody was wandering whats up with this guy and here we have it.

Ever considered a D&D Beyond animated series?

That would be awesome, they should rekindle the original cartoon it would be great to see them get home and introduce new characters.

The original cartoon is nostalgic, but did not age well, it is preachy and much more an animated PSA than worthwhile entertainment, however, that does not mean that completely new animated series could not be absolutely awesome.
There are so many options of existing campaigns and story lines but what I think a new animated series really needs a completely original, stand alone story, in perhaps a setting that is new.
For me, honestly, as long as its not based in Forgotten Realms, I could be ok with it, there is WAY too much saturation for that campaign setting already.

      dunewizard like Eberron for example!

Spelljammer, and Planescape also offer huge options for a whole animated series

    • @Darkwintre

      dunewizard spelljammer definitely!
Planescape like Dark Sun is probably too dark!

RE: The Tears of Selune trip discussion, as I said during Chris' panel, STOP TEASING SPELLJAMMER!!!! You guys are killing me!
Also, I totally woulda played through (read: punished my players) the Mindflayer-focused story that got canned. :D

It feels weird to see so much new WD/UM content, as I've been running campaigns there since the original, 2nd ed. Ruins of Undermountain set.
I both like that my favorite setting is getting so much new love, but it also makes the campaign that I've worked on for 25 years seem less special.

Okay that's weird. I literally only heard the phrase kit-bash in the last video I watched, which was completely unrelated. Now Jeremy Crawford is claiming to be a kit-basher. Is it just me? How long has this phrase been kicking around for without me noticing?

    • @Telleryn
      @Telleryn 6 ปีที่แล้ว

It's a very old term, usually referring to when building things from model kits, making something new by modifying and combining parts from various incompatible kits

Crawford said "Catacomb", same a playtest name? Or slip of the tongue? Cool nonetheless!
