    Got to agree on the wedges Joel game the vokey sm8 through the summer but digging in too much now it's gone soft so put the md cb wedges in the bag 2 weeks ago and what a difference. Catching the ball clean now on chip shots and it's improved my chipling for sure.

    Like the glove idea, for myself, winter golf is primarily getting out and exercise with my golf partner so finesse not an issue and the score is immaterial good video mind.

    Another video that can be used to cure insomnia.
    Pretty much the same things you guys told everyone to do for high handicappers (add loft, distance balls), beginners and senior golfers.
    Winter gloves in winter???? Wow big scoop there
    Basically here's a bunch of things that can be applied to most times of year (most have waterproof shoes with decent spikes/nubs regardless of season), but you should go out an get it all from our good corporate sponsors at Auschnet (Titleist, FJ).

    Increased driver loft means increased descent angle. Soft conditions is going to cause the ball to plug or give minimal roll. Wouldn’t decreasing loft be more beneficial?

      I presume it's based on the idea that there is still less resistance on the ball in the air vs the ground.

    7 Ways to modify your golf gear for winter - in Canada:
    1) Thoroughly wash clubs, 2) Wash grips, 3) Turn bag upside down and toss garbage, 4) wash golf balls, 5) throw out old gloves, 6) store bag in a dry indoor location, 7) set up ski prep area, put a fresh edge on skis, wax & scrap skis 5 times to prep bases, put on a final coat of wax and let sit for 3 days, scrap and brush skis until perfect, watch the weather channel and pray for snow

    Don’t forget the other gear you’ll need/want:
    heated vest to keep back warm and less likely to lock up. You can even get heated socks, hand warmers in pocket for balls…
    Neck warmer tube. High top golf shoes.
    Warm water thermos with tea or whatever.
    Propane Heater buddy for golf cart.

    Spikeless golf shoes are useless in winter. I don't care if the manufacturer uses buzzwords like "carbon", none of them work in the wet. And most of these tips are not "hacks" (another overused media jargon), they are just common sense. Leave proper hacks to the IT community.

    • @ahastar1141
      @ahastar1141 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Completely disagree with this. Plenty of spikeless shoes offer great traction in wet weather.

    Some useful tips there Joel, but putting the ball in your pocket to keep it warm so that it goes further is a myth. The colder the ball the firmer it becomes and the firmer the ball the further it travels, its basic physics.
    I think the misunderstanding occurs with the understanding that a ball travels further in warm/dry air, but this does not apply to the Ball itself. The colder the ball itself the further it travels (even in cold/damp air).

      Could it not be that a ball at hijger temperaturen is more elastic so that the energie transfer from club to ball is more efficient

    • @tombowman5281
      @tombowman5281 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bandit Baker if your going to comment about physics make sure you are right. A warmer ball will travel roughly 5 yards further than a cold one. Because energy transfer is more efficient due to the heat as in a cold ball the particles are not vibrating as much so they will need more energy to make them move but the warm ball is vibrating a lot more already so you will get extra distance.

    • @banditbaker1675
      @banditbaker1675 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tombowman5281Tom, and I would suggest that you do the test as I have done! Do the test yourself if you doubt my findings. Hit a ball that has been cooled in a refrigerator and a ball that is at room temp & beyond and the cold ball travels 5-10% further. The warm ball will "over-compress" like a sponge ball when hit and loses energy transfer whereas the cooled ball effectively increases in compression and therefore becomes more efficient in its transfer of energy. TXG have done a similar test on their channel and had exactly the same findings as I have.

    • @banditbaker1675
      @banditbaker1675 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@antoinesteeghs7313 That was indeed the perceived wisdom before we had Trackman, but unfortunately, the opposite is true. The warmer ball will effectively lose compression and be less efficient at transferring energy when hit, whereas the colder ball becomes "harder" and increases in compression and therefore becomes more efficient at transferring energy.

    Not your most interesting video, to say the least. For example : "Distance oriented golf ball". Really ? They don't go longer than the others, they just don't take spin. Not the kind of advice to convince me to take time to follow your channel. Hope you'll provide a better one next time.
