Hi Neil. Like most amateur hackers I watch an awful lot of Tube vids trying to find the magic! Have to say this is brilliant, the distance tweak, ball back slightly and chipping round the green are genius but simple. Thanks for the tips and Clive is just superb! Cheers
Depends on what you consider “trouble”. I have never hit a ball OB or lost it in the woods because I was 5 yards short, but I have done it when I have been 5 yards long of a green haha
When looking at number 2, that’s why it’s important to practice hitting multiple distances with different wedges. Personally when I play and it’s wet I usually use one of my wedges with more bounce. Unlike summer, my high bounce wedges become my fairway clubs and low bounce wedges become my bunker cluns
Also funny that the UK fairways and greens get SOFTER in the winter, where in the USA, the fairways and greens get rock hard. The reason it is funny is that the game has the same rules in the USA and the UK but the conditions are almost opposite based on the season.
1) clip a towel to your belt to dry clubface before shots 2) clip ski mitts to your bag to keep hands warm 3) for very wet sand, I prefer to concentrate on using the heel of the wedge to guarantee to dig 4) winter hat 5) don't dress too bulky - use a thin windbreaker under a sweater 6) neck gator 7) if ball and club are wet, swing slower and get handle very forward at impact to prevent ball from slipping up face and not compressing
I thought this would be about winter...Like frozen....My brother will have a big advantage now...The ball will roll to 350 and everytime he dunks it in the water, the ball will bounce off the ice and land on the green. lol
You can definitely tell this video is done in the UK, not just because of the accents. UK golf is SOOOO different than US golf. When I keep hearing TH-camrs from the UK, not just you, saying that there is "more trouble short of the green than long", we in the USA laugh. I have played hundreds of courses in the US and have belonged to 4 different clubs over the past 30 years and I can tell you that nothing is farther from the truth than that statement here in the US. While there are traps or some hazards in front of greens, so many of the holes here have hazards, huge downslopes and OB long of greens. Of the 18 holes at my current course, for example, the better miss is long on only 2 of them - 2 are equally penal, and 14 your are absolutely DEAD if you go over the green. My last club before this, you were dead if you were long on 13 of the 18 holes. This is NOT a criticism but just wanted to point out that, since you have a lot of viewers like me in the USA, that statement does not hold true most of the time in the US.
I don't think they are saying the opposite wasn't true.. ie they aren't saying there ISNT trouble long of the green. I don't know I thought I was a really good bunker player until the sand was frozen cold in my last game, so I found it helpful.
had to stop the video after 5 minutes. These types of tips are being proved wrong by modern youtubers like Mark Crossfield and Rick Shiels. You can of course swing very fast and barely lose consistency, Pros do this 99% of the time and it's a myth that they play at something like 80% unless it's for an accurate pitch shot. Such a long video too for tips that can be talking about in 30 seconds. Seems like clickbait to me to show off Pings new winter clothing line
@@garrymack not sure you fully understood my comment. I'm saying that people like Rick have proven that these tips should be ignored and we should stop teaching this stuff
Yeah, pretty sure I understand, we just disagree. I don't see why Rick Shiels is the authority on how hard golfers swing on tour lol. There are plenty that state they don't swing at 100%.

Best video you guys have done in ages. Nice one
Glad you enjoyed it
Some great advice from, Clive - super content thanks!
Great tips. It's fall here in Canada so this will help.
Good to hear! Enjoy your golf!

This is a quality video. Thank you for the content
Glad you enjoyed it!
The way I think about my chipping is "where would I throw this ball to get it to roll next to the hole?" and that's where I want to hit it.

Chipping tip was great
Thanks!
good advice
Glad it was helpful!
Starting to ignore most You Tube golf advise. Spending more time golfing and practicing. Cheers

Nothing new or particularly fancy, but good to keep in mind now that we’re going into the muddy months.

21:00 9/10 people would putt that anyway whatever the season. Choose a better example shot maybe where there's 12 foot of fairway/fringe to go through
Guilty of making the same mistake of trying to hit it harder!
Most of us are!
Biggest challenge for me, is still that crazy woman in my house, says she’s my wife 🤫🤫 great video!!
You missed out move to your winter home in the sun.....
Good tips, but could of been a 10 minute video.
Noted!
Good comment, but could of been better if you weren't a knob

Thanks for your comment Bradford. It is interesting and we will keep it in mind for future

Weird.. I think this actually far better than most of what rick has put out.
