I was upset when we left to give his powers to Rocky, but when showed up in Zeo as the Gold Ranger II (if you want to call it that) I was happy. Now if NETFLIX would hurry up and get the one episode of Power Rangers Beast Morphers on having Jason show up and don the MMPR red ranger suit so I can hear his Morph cry that always was called out with gusto

As a kid, Jason was always the one that got me hyped up for battle. The way he led the MMPR team made me feel like I was there with them. Definitely a leader I’d follow into battle with any time. When Tommy took the mantle, it was kind of hard because it was always Jason as the leader to me. Then when they replaced Jason with Rocky, I just felt like the creators made a BIG mistake by putting Rocky as the red Ranger. The guy just tried too hard to be Jason tough. In all honesty, I saw Adam as the 2nd in command after Jason left. The guy was stowick, but he was a natural leader himself no less. Jason to me will always be the GOAT Red Ranger. He only needed one version of Red to show he’s the greatest.

Never liked Jason much, Zack was way better for me, then Tommy as the Green Ranger. He ws pretty boring as the White Ranger though despite all the potential to be cooler. A shame no good version of Tommy ever got Green Ranger and White Ranger powers combined, Dragonzord, Falconzord and Tigerzord were all the shit.

Also when Tommy left the show due to the death of his Super Sentai counterpart, Jason was the one that held onto the Dragon power coin and the Dragonzord until Tommy's return. Also the reason why Jason was the best leader was that he could defeat a monster with just his zord, most of the other rangers usually can't do that unless team up or combined. In MMPR season 1 Jason was able to defeat the gladiator monster with just the Tyrannosaurus whereas in MMPR season 2, he was able to defeat the trophy monster with just Red Dragon. An accomplishment not many leader ranger could had done.
The Tyrannosaurus and the Red Dragon were the core Zords of their respective Megazords, the rest of the Zords were basically a power up for them, it was specially obvious with the Thunder Megazord with the minor Zords becoming a power armor.

They tried to give that mysterious angle over to Andros which worked well i reckon. Andros is my second favourite red ranger. Which kind of took away from making Zhane interesting as a 6th ranger.

These comments are funny jason was the leader of the REAL power ranger team. Tommy lead the ass kisser team which I like but the white ranger run was weak. The show is hard to watch at that point, their movie with that team was good but the actual show was a actual joke when Jason Zack trinni and Kimberly left.... But still she lefted too. As a kid Jason was my favorite ranger and actually didn't like Tommy as the evil green ranger (as an adult I love it now hahaha) . My world was crushed when Jason left but 7 year old me didn't understand a tight production budget 😆
Jason was never 2nd in command when he was the red ranger. Despite what that line said, Jason still lead the team. Look at all the episodes that were in between White Light part 2 and the his last physical appearance in the show, he still lead the team. Tommy was never the leader when Jason was the red ranger
Yeah that was a line put in because Austin had already left the show by the time it aired. In the episodes he led the team like you said and even did so pretty much in Zeo
When zordon put Tommy the white wizard (I mean ranger) as the leader he technically stood aside but Tommy always let him step in so if anything they were co-leaders. I hated when he left as "Rocky" was a stooge.

It took me until the Gold Ranger arc to fully appreciate what Jason brought to the table. He had this natural charisma that was the bedrock of the original team. Tommy and Rocky just couldn’t hold a candle to him.
When Jason returned as Gold Ranger in Zeo, he remarked to Tommy that he didn't intend to try to retake leadership of the team. I always took this as a retcon of the are-you-happy-with-the-new-leader-of-the-power-team line. The showrunners perhaps realized it was a bad idea to declare Tommy leader back then and chose to ignore it.
Whilst Tommy may have been named leader of the Power Rangers, Jason still led the rangers in the Megazord, which explains why he still considered himself the leader, but when he came back as gold ranger Tommy was red ranger and had done a good job, so Jason didn't feel the need to take back the leadership.
Jason was a true leader and always made everyone around him feel equally. When the green ranger arrived, he made everyone around him feel like he was better and mighty bigger than any of the other rangers around him.
Once Jason, Trini and Zack left, the show was done for me. Never the same.

I think Jason always had his Mighty Morphin powers. Because i think there could be a reason as to why Jason was getting rejected by the Gold Ranger powers. The Gold Ranger powers might've detected that Jason still has the Red Mighty Morphin Powers it would back up on as to why Billy wasn't able to aquire the Gold Rangers Powers as well. As you recall saying the power coins were destroyed, you be correct but it wasn't the Original 5 Power Coins that were destroyed, it was the Ninja Coins. The proof is in Always a Chance when Adam morphed, he didn't say "Black Ranger Power" which invokes the Ninja powers but instead calls out "Mastodon." Plus there's a indication that Zordon didn't create the power coin but rather discovered them possibly alongside the Dragon Coin.

In 'Revelations Of Gold' (19:17) Billy couldn't assume the Gold Ranger powers due to him absorbing "negative-proton" molecules" when the Command Center exploded stating it's like putting to magnets together.
Now that we have seen Once and Always we see that Trini's morpher and power coin is not broken and Jason uses his powers in Forever Red and she, Jason and Zack use their morphers in the great battle in Mega Force and in Once and Always we see them using their powers just fine. How Kim and Billy repared their coins and Tommy re-stored his Green Ranger powers is unknown, but I think they went to Ninjor and asked him to restore them. Another possibility for Tommy is that he found and used the coin that had belonged to his clone. Either way, the Green Ranger powers are safe to use.
@Edward-nf4nc yeah, but the Once and Always special takes place years later after Might Morphin and Zordon Era, which is like 25 or 30 years ago. Even between the time of the Zordon Era and Forever Red, it could've been possible that they could have restored the Might Morphin powers in between Galaxy to Wild Force.
True, but my theory involving Ninjor still holds. He made the power coins, so it makes sense he could have repaired them, or I guess he could have re-made them, but as Tommy later uses his white ranger powers as well, I guess restoring them is more likely.

Beast Morphers also showed us that with Jason also retaining his original Red Ranger powers fully he also had access to the original Megazord which still exists! Proves the original zords were never destroyed. It was the Thunder Megazord instead that was destroyed.

It goes to show that Jason’s character never really had his full potential unlocked. He is voted as the number 1 Red Ranger and arguably the best ranger. Imaging he had as much screen time as Tommy.

I always operated under Linkara's theory that Jason's Power Coin, like Adam's was restored from Zordon's Energy Wave from Countdown to Destruction.
I believe Jason's powers were copied to Rocky. He never lost his original Red Ranger powers or Zords. Gordon or Ninjor could've also gave him a Master Morpher where he can switch between Red or Zeo Gold.
Except he never had a master morpher only Tommy had cause he had 5 ranger powers (only Turbo was just short when he chose TJ as his successor in the Turbo Rangers team leader) and Jason had the gold power for a while cause the power that only belongs to Trey because of his biology and it was killing Jason physically
Erm there was only one tyrannosaurus zord and he got turned into the red dragon thunderzord lol. In the super sentai movie where these episodes are based on they do give a damn good explanation (actually showing) on how to get the tyrannosaurus but that’s the original material where the red dinozord and red thunderzord are not the same damn zord. With super sentai every team changes and has done so since the beginning. Saban should have followed the same treatment early on. Then he didn’t have to mess around with plot holes and continuity errors. I understand Hasbro is stopping to get footage from toei and wanna go their own way with the franchise.

As seen in OO, the Morphing Grid is both a well of near limitless energy but it's also a physical location (energy dimension that connects all of the timelines/universes), my theory on reclaiming old powers is as follows:
The grid, beyond being the source of energy used to power the rangers weapons and armor, it actually stores them when not in use (RPM not withstanding). Morphers simply call this from the grid and equip it onto the rangers. The Morphing Grid also remembers (possibly connected to the Morphing Masters in some way). If you morph even once, it remembers you connected to that set of powers and equipment and you can call upon it again. How? Just get a new key (or coin as they keys were often in the early days). The broken morphers of the Dino powers could be repaired, the shattered coins and the drained disks of the first two kinds of Ninja powers could be remade, and so on. Gosei may be related to this, a sapient super computer who continuously created backups of every single power that was used in the morphing grid.
And after creating the Turbo powers simply by reverse engineering the Zeo powers, whose to say Billy wasn't more than smart enough to make a new red Tyrannosaurus power coin?
I didn't like how they portrayed Jason in Forever Red. He was a bit of a dick. But Tommy was never the leader Jason was, and had done absolutely nothing to suggest he'd be good at it when he was selected to do so as the White Ranger.

I like to think the going away party we saw in the boom comics is cannon to the show and that’s how Jason got his red ranger powers back. Then at some unknown point he got it working again.
I remember when I was a kid, when Jason came back as Zeo Gold I flipped out even more than I did at Tommy's reveal as the White Ranger.

Jason had that leadership presence no matter what position he put on. Even when they put Tommy over him, Jason seem like he had that it factor as the leader.
I don’t blame Jason, Zack, and Trini’s actors for quitting. At one point all six of the rangers were planning to quit because Saban paid them peanuts while he was making millions. But at the end Tommy, Kimberly, and Billy’s actors decided to stay. Honestly if Austin St. John had stayed I think Jason would have remained the leader and Tommy wouldn’t be as big of a legend as he is now

If Jason wasn’t leaving would he still of been the leader? Even with white ranger there? Hard to say, a few episodes after “white light” you can clearly see Jason leading the team.
This was very cool. It is nice to know that through out the years Jason was able to battle throughout all the adversity. I still remember watching the original Power Rangers as a little kid and Jason was always my favorite. Forever Red is probably my favorite of all the Ranger episodes even though had really started to not care at that point it was fun to see all the different Red Rangers come together battle it out with the Beatle Borgs and even share some old war stories to really let the audience know this is a shared universe.
Jason didn't deserve to be demoted just because Tommy came back. But after he left, Tommy was clearly a better choice for leader than Rocky.

I liked the current storyline that's in the comics that being the fact the "peace conference" was really a cover-story for Jason, Trini, and Zack to go form the Omega Rangers, one of the best parts was the aftermath especially how there was some tension between Jason and Billy over the fact that Jason, Trini, and Zack essentially lied to them with Jason having to explain that if it was possible to tell Billy and the others they would've but given the situation it wasn't possible to reveal the truth without something going wrong.

@@Page9theband It was from when Jason, Trini, and Zack first came back to Earth as the Omega Red, Yellow, and Black Rangers along with Kiva as the Omega Blue Ranger in the current comics post Shattered Grid and basically Jason revealed the truth about the "peace conference" actually being a cover story to hide the fact him, Trini, and Zack were selected by Morphing Master-esque beings to become part of the Omega Rangers a team of rangers that dealt with multiverse-level threats with Jason as the leader and Billy was understandably upset about the whole "deception" and Jason try to defuse the situation by telling Billy, Kimberly, Tommy who just became the White Power Ranger, Rocky, Adam, Aisha, and Zordon that if it was possible to reveal the truth they would've but given the current situation they couldn't. However the situation went back to bad when Kiva the Omega Blue Ranger attacked Tommy mistaking him for Drakkon due to PTSD over losing her home planet during the Shattered Grid incident, and then teleported away. And then the situation went to worse when Jason, Trini, and Zack broke Drakkon out of the Command Center brig stating they need his help to stop a approaching multiverse-level threat known as the Empeyreal, this did not sit well with Zordon who declared that by freeing Drakkon the Omega Rangers just made themselves enemies to the Power Rangers.
I don't consider Power Ranger comics as canon.
With Thuy Trangs passing in real life, what is the canon for Trini ?. Is she recast now with a new actress ? or is Aisha her replacement now as the yellow mmpr .
It hard to know in the team reunion episodes who the yellow sabre tooth tiger ranger is? . We assume it Trini, but then where does Aisha come into it. Has Trini died now in power rangers canon also ,due to the real life actress dying , but if so then is it Aisha?. Just there is no follow up on the original yellow rangers story arch. We know all the others stories and progression , but also with Aisha in a different time period in Africa is she gone now also from the rangers universe too ?
There just no clarification on both yellow MMPR, technically Aisha is the only ninja yellow ranger and the 2nd MMPR yellow Ranger. While Trini is the 1st yellow MMPR and has never become another ranger.
I would assume it would be Aisha. In the comics Trini goes on to be one of the Omega Rangers as well

I would think also Aisha could slot in very easily ,as she is not a zeo or turbo ranger. And she knows zach and Jason also from before they left.

Question - I always wondered if Jason was actually appointed as 2nd-in-Command once Tommy became the White Ranger. There was one Episode (can't remember the title) where the Red Dragon (Thunder Zord) was fighting a villain/monster and then the White Tiger Zord arrived later to assist and the villain said "The Sherrif has a Deputy?!?!?" so I then thought that maybe Jason was still in the lead (which I guess they never made clear) due to that specific part in the script.
Also, does this mean that Rocky became 2nd, when Jason left? Otherwise I just saw him more as just "another Ranger" but just in Red? In Zeo, it felt like Adam was more of Tommy's 2nd.
For real? Never noticed that line but to answer your question, no Jason was never really the 2nd in command. Sure, Tommy became "leader" but that only happened because ASJ had left the show and the whole line in White Light "meet your new leader" was changed in post production. The original line was meet your newest member or sixth ranger. Jason led the team for the remaining 2 or 3 episodes in every scene that ASJ appeared in (not the stand in Jason actor). He gave commands and he led the Morphin sequence during his last episode Opposites Attract despite of Tommy being there. So that Sherif line totally makes sense and only backs up this whole thing further with Jason being the leader until he left.

I never knew the PR story went so deep across the different seasons. I always just make my kids watch the MMPR version because I always thought all others were garbage lol
I've recently been rewatching Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers and during the transition period when Austin, Walter, and Thuy (Jason, Zach, and Trini respectively) weren't filming new episodes, but their characters hadn't been fully written off yet. You can clearly hear different peoples' voices in the fight scenes...there's even one episode where Trini has a British accent during a fight. Anytime it does show any if those 3's faces it's clearly footage from older episodes that's just being recycled for the scene. And this is all beofre Rocky, Adam, and Aisha actually become Power Rangers. Most scenes where they aren't morphed is just Kimberly, Billy, and Tommy, the other 3 are usually off doing something else off camera like scuba diving.
I never noticed any of this stuff as a kid. But now, it's just so glaring and obvious. It's kinda cathartic, I guess

This is going to sound strange but Robby from cobra kai kind of reminds me of Jason. Makes me want to write a alternate storyline were Jason actually injure Bulk putting him into the hospital then cops are after him. Wonder what Zordon would have did of one if the power rangers were in trouble with the law.

Lord Zedd didn't create the green candle that destroyed the Green Ranger's powers, Rita was the one who did that. Tommy gave Jason his power coin to prevent her from taking his powers away from him for good and then he left for a while and came back as the Green Ranger once again, but this time his powers were temporary (in reality this was because Saban ran out of Green Ranger footage from Zyuranger). This is also the same reason why Tommy became the White Ranger in the following season.

Zordon may have given the leadership status to Tommy after he became White Ranger, but even so, Jason was still essentially the leader until he left the show.
Even after Tommy was granted leadership, they all still looked to Jason, Tommy included. Tommy didn't start making official leadership decisions until after Jason left.

Jason’s powers were copied to Rocky and not really transferred. You can see in the episode that when the powers were “transferred” Jason, Trini, and Zack still had their suits/morphers/power coins so they were merely copied not transferred.

No complaints this time man, everything was more-or-less right (candle thing was the only part that wasn't but its minor). Just an explanation.
Boom! Comics has been doing a lot to address some of these inconsistencies and plot holes since they started writing. The Morpher Jason uses in Forever Red (and possibly the Beast Morphers team up) was a parting gift from his time in Zeo. He ultimately left to do other things and his former teammates had a bit of a send-off for him. Rocky had found the original morpher (which had a connection to the Tyrannosaurus/Red Dragon power set) and Alpha had restored it, purely as a decorative trophy of sorts. He was warned not to use it, but he obviously ended up ignoring that lol. The part that has never been explained is why the power set is not unstable like Adam's was (it was obviously not nearly as damaged and unstable as Adam's old Morpher since Alpha restored Jason's, but all the same he was warned not to use it for pretty much the same reasons Alpha tried to tell Adam not to use his in PRiS. My assumption is Jason payed a visit to Ninjor and had it repaired completely so it could be used without worry/Consequence). Rocky's Morpher in Dimensions in Danger could be the Ninja Coin variation and was apparently repaired in a similar way, and the Master Morpher is heavily implied to be the work of Ninjor though it is never stated outright where the hell it ended up coming from.

Jason Lee Scott is the 🐐 and besides the only reason why Tommy was claimed leader because in reality Austin St John was pretty much on his way out by then.

Jason will always be the greatest Red Ranger. Just like all the originals will always be the greatest Blue, Black, Pink and Yellow Rangers (and of course the Green and White Rangers). Maybe it's being the first or just the most episodes. Then Jason's return as the Gold Zeo Ranger and his role in the Turbo movie.
The saddest tale came in the Lord Drakkon storyline in the Comics, when Jason is being given the White Ranger powers and Tommy kills him to take the powers.

My personal fanon for how Jason got back his powers for Forever Red do involve the Ninja Rangers comic, but also the ending of In Space.
Naturally, Zedd held a long obsession with creating evil Power Rangers, and using the powers of the original Power Coins. During the Season 3, Zedd was able to actually find Jason's power, as it was no longer bound to a power coin, Rocky's morpher/power coin having been damaged beyond repair with the destruction of the Thunder Zords. Unfortunately for Lord Zedd, the Machine Empire put his plans on hold, since he couldn't use his palace, and Finnster didn't have access to the equipment required to re-bind the powers into a new coin or other receptacle.
At the end of In Space, Zedd and Rita aren't destroyed by Zordon's wave, instead they were purified and became seemingly regular humans. This good Lord Zedd still had the Tyranno powers, but no reason to actually do anything with them anymore. This all changed when he received an alarm notification from his old world-breaking zord, Serpenterra. Its hiding place had been disturbed, since Lord Zedd had buried it after getting married to Rita, her refusal to destroy planets that might be conquerable meant he would never have reason/chance to use it again, and The Machine Empire attacking meant he certainly didn't want them to find it.
Being no longer evil, and probably a decent citizen of Earth, he contacted Tommy, since Tommy was easier to find, being directly trackable from his connection to the Zeo crystal still being active. They needed to find Jason, so they could re-empower him, knowing Jason would be a powerful help for defeating this new threat. When Jason answered the door to a couple people he never met before, telling him they needed his help to save the world once more, he thought they were nuts. Rita and Zedd both having to bust out their over the top "EVIL" voices to get Jason to recognize them. Zedd had the power, but still no vessel to attach them to. Jason pulled out his old morpher, the faded power coin still locked in place, and asked if this would work. Zedd replies that would be perfect, and that we need to get it done right away.
Since neither Zedd nor Tommy knew exactly how long it would take to re-bind the powers to the Power Coin, Tommy was forced to prepare to leave even though Jason hadn't arrived yet. Cue the sound of Jason's Motorcycle.
This explanation above, is of course, personal fanon. I honestly can't think of any other way for this to have happened.
I think i know how Jason gained his Power back when Zordon died his Power was unleashed throughout the World thus we see Rita and Zedd turn Good etc. so There's a Possibility that Zordon's Energy gave Jason his Power Back and was able to Become the Red Ranger Again
