Lord zed is eltarian , the same species as zordon. And the reason why hes all messed up looking is because the zeo crystal mutilated his body when he tried to take it
Thrax should make a comeback just to get his design right. Makes no sense that he had to look so ridiculous.
I loved Zedd when he had his run on MMPR, season 2, but wasnt too crazy about his goofier attitude during the third season. It felt like they took away what made him a very threatening character. Then again I remember reading something a while ago that there were complaints about him being such a dark character for a kids series. That was what made him an interesting character. Not everyone or everything has to be goofy, otherwise the interest in them just wanes as they go.
This character is the perfect power rangers villain.

That's an excellent question. If Lord Zedd made an appearance on MK 12, he could definitely destroy both Shang Sung and Shao Khan at the same time.
I remember being so scared of Lord Zedd when I was a kid watching the original MMPR...and I'm so glad they never revealed his face because I would have been traumatized lol
I find it more interesting in the comics how he's got power rangers power as we see him shout "it's morphing time" after becoming a ranger.

I'm still trying to figure out what the original effect for his voice is. It sounds sort of like a flanger, but I haven't been able to reproduce it and I don't know what sort of system was used back then. In-universe I'm guessing it's his mask that does that to his voice, but there were times when it wasn't there or very light.

I always thought he look good and cool, it was horrible that he was missing his skin but they made it work he looks like a true main villain should have to look like, to be honest after Zedd all the other main villains look goofy and underwhelming and I mean the main villains and every PR enemy, that said the reason he lost his skin is lame, you would think that he had plenty of time to recover and restore his original look given the explanation, I imagine other reasons he look the way he does, like a curse or something else that kept him from recovering when you look at his power or that he recently lost his skin in some battle, but simply because it was burned? the guy is thousands of years old that more than enough time to recover.
Probably the protection barrier had a spell or something like that that didn’t allow him to recovered his skin I mean that is possible

Zedd was my second least favorite antagonist (No my least favorite was Divatox, which she made absolutely no sense.). Bandora (Rita) was not my favorite, but she was okay. Zedd? He is the personification of the problem with americanizing Japanese IP's.
I've watched Super Sentai series before Power Rangers were a thing, and typically preferred the original.
