- Carlos Acosta (born 2 June 1973), Cuban-British ballet dancer, director of the Birmingham Royal Ballet. He danced with English National Ballet, National Ballet of Cuba, Houston Ballet and ABT. He was a permanent member of The Royal Ballet from 1998 to 2015. He celebrated his farewell after 17 years at The Royal Ballet, dancing his last performance in November 2015 in Carmen, which he both choreographed and starred in.

l still cant get over HOW HARD ballet dancers WORK! All day, every day, Stretch, class, rehearse, perform, sleep, stretch, class, rehearse, perform ....over, and over, and over. What a WORKLOAD!

My all-time favorite dancer I read his book. I did multiple school papers on him, and he inspired me to continue doing ballet.

Great compilation! I found him rather late in his career so really appreciate the footage of him when he was younger. I discovered there's all of a performance of Spartacus with Nina Kaptsova, although you have to be a little creative with your search terms and it's in multiple pieces, so you have to be patient!
A GREAT, almost definitive Spartacus! A super, super performance from every dancer, plus some of ballet's naughtiest costumes! AND a standing ovation from a Moscow audience...

What an incredibly gifted artist. Truly one of the best of the past 100 years captured on film. I am very interested in the training that ballet and similar dance professionals must receive for decades as they learn their craft from such an early age. I enjoy seeing the various elements and stages they learn at. Its so interesting to watch. You can see the talent in some at at every age of their learning. Does anyone know this gentleman's life story in regards to his training and where he began to first show the magnificent skills demonstrated in this video?
He started at age 9 in Cuba, it is a very impressive story!

Why is the "Best of" only as solo? Carlos is a great partner dancer! Ballet is not only turns and jumps, especially this dancer has much more showed than the "tricks". I hope the next collection of "Best of" will appreciate the wide range of dancing (not only from Carlos Acosta).
Absolutely true! We opted to show just him as a solo dancer and not as a partner because we thought that could be another good kind of videos we could produce for the future. Thanks for your feedback, we totally agree, he's a beautiful porteur and partner ❤️
