Another solid video! My pond had so much Water Hyacinth that was low key way more than I thought! Wait it off in there with the rake for four hours last Sunday getting it all out and boy it was so dang heavy. I thought it was gonna be late I was wrong… now I can actually cast! Progress

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. Very informative! I've been helping manage an 11 acre pond in PA for the last couple years. We've been attempting to control the vegetation for the last 3 years and just stocked it for the first time in 15 years this past May. I just came across your videos and you have given us some insights on things we could do to continue maintaining it. So just wanted to say thanks!

I understand that you can also have a winter fish kill from keeping your bottom aerators running deep in the winter in cold climate areas. That this causes the water to be “super-cooled” to a point where it causes the fish’s blood to get too thick to circulate. I understand that you should relocate the aerators to a point only 3-4’ deep. Has this been your experience or understanding too?

What is a good type of vegetation and/or grass to plant in a pond? My pond has a thick mud bottom.

As far as underwater aeration goes. Can I run poly pipe at the bottom of the pond in the deepest area with holes drilled in it every couple inches and have a compressor with a pup tank on a timer to go on periodically? I am lucky enough to have a building close enough to the pond

be careful about going too deep stay above 10' of depth. an air stone would be better because it will break the air up into smaller bubbles and they are not that expensive. also it will use a lot of air if you have it set up where it does you some good and the electric the compressor uses could jack your bills up .

when you say drying out do you mean the water level is dropping? is this a new pond ?if the pond is leaking ,either it wasn't properly built or the soil is not right for holding water . you can expect some loss of water from summer time evaporation , a couple inches up to a foot depending on how hot and dry it is. if the pond leaks because there wasn't good enough clay present to make a good seal then you will either have to find a water source and pump the pond full or go back in and reline the pond with about a foot of good clay.
