There are a bunch of theories of the meaning of this song. The Music Industry, An insane asylum, Marriage and divorce, addiction and more. There is supposedly a story about an interview with the guys in the band (who wrote it) and they said it is a song about over-indulgence and the way we live. Too much of everything and yet never enough. We do everything to excess. Eat, drink, do drugs, spend money, seek out power. My impression of what I have heard about that interview is that the "Beast" we can't kill is our own uncontrolled desire for more of everything. Anything that is written well, songs, stories. poems whatever is greater the more it makes you think and the more options it gives you. Great pice of writing and a great performance. Stay safe and well y'all.
I few years ago I had the great privilege of seeing the Eagles in concert at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. It was call the Eagles history of the Eagles tour. They played for 31/2 hrs. The show starts with Glen Fry narrating about how the band started. Then he tells how when the band first started practicing, they didn't have room for chairs, so they started the concert by sitting on their amps and played a couple of early songs that I didn't even know. Glen Fry then continued to tell the story of the evolution of the band. He told about how the leed guitarist and the band had a falling out and they hired Joe Walsh and Joe Walsh came out from backstage. I have seen a lot of great concerts and the Eagles was one of the best. Watch the documentary called the Eagles the history of the Eagles. It is well worth your time.
Man I’m 39 and have been listening to this music since high school. My best friends uncle was Dave Hlubek from Molly Hatchet. I was lucky enough to meet Uncle Dave before he passed. I worked for Dave’s brother for years and he is like a second father to me. The stories of Jacksonville and the jam sessions with musicians in this genre like it’s no big deal. The touring with his brother early on. Soooo cool.

I love that you are introducing this music to a generation that possibly hasn't or wouldn't hear it otherwise. I graduated HS in 1984 (I know that dates me) but I experienced great music. My brothers were 15 & 19 when i was born. I grew up hearing their music and then my own era's greats. I also experienced the intro to Mtv which was great then. Just found your channel and i'm loving it. ❤️ you thank you!
Growing up, i always loved the faces Joe Walsh was making while playing guitar, it wasnt until the past few years that i read he has aspherger syndrome. I respect him so much, as treatments and even just awareness wasnt really a thing as he was young. He is an incredible guitar player and ive always loved his music.
I don't care what the Eagless are trying to express ... for me it's about growing up. Once you walk thru the door of adulthood ... you can never go back to your youth. You go from child to adult in a heartbeat, and so there's no returning to the days of being a child. Every kid wants to grow up FAST, and every adult wishes they could go back to their childhood. Lesson is don't be in a hurry to walk through that door.
I recently spent a glorious 4 hours having lunch with Jim Ed Norman, the architect of country rock. He still tours with The Eagles. His stories of sleeping on the couch after Jackson Browne moved out, Linda Ronstadt, writing for The Eagles, the LA scene in the early seventies were magical. These old guys won’t be with us much longer so we need to get their memories recorded fast!

I love that you're getting into these songs. If people at your level find them, like them and enjoy singing along maybe they wont have to disappear into obscurity and will find new life as cover tracks or samples. I love cover tracks and samples. I've heard people say that they somehow lessen the original but I argue that they bring attention to songs that may have otherwise been forgotten, unless of course James Gunn puts them in a Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
I think it’s open to interpretation. I’ve just always loved loved The Eagles and their voices are just so awesome. I just loved the music and the harmonies. 😊

I finally got to see them live here Australia at the Tennis Centre in Melbourne Australia in the early 2000s. I'll never forget it. They played for about 3 hours.

You guys are a great reaction team! I like the way BP fills in some knowledge from his previous reactions. Joe Walsh had an amazing career outside of the Eagles as well. I hope you check out "Funk 49" from his days with the James Gang and "Life's Been Good" from his solo album But Seriously Folks. Go Chiefs!
I met & partied w/Joe Walsh in the early 1980s. The Eagles and Hall & Oates were touring New Mexico where I lived in a mountain ski resort town. Joe was good friends w/Kenny Pasarelli who was playing with Hall & Oates at that time. They met for a few days in my town during a quick touring break. We were all enjoying the local music and drinks at one of the popular dance halls & Joe asked me to dance. We hit it off & spent the rest of the evening together dancing. When he told me who he was I thought he was lying the last thing I said to him was, "I don't care if you're a trash truck driver. You're a great guy & I've had a great time tonight!" A few months later I saw a picture of him & about died of embarrassment! I swear to you, most of these performers look so different when they're not on stage! 😅

Hotel California is a metaphor for California... the land of promise... escape... vice...California has it all, the beauty, the glitter, the magic and a shit load of darkness. The brighter the light, the bigger the shadow. California is a very bright light of a place and it casts a very dark shadow.
Be careful with Eagles reactions. Don Henley is a pr*ck to reaction channels. I think you would enjoy Life's been good Joe Walsh guitarist with the bandana. Great reaction and Peace out ✌️ ☮️ 🙏
gotta say, Black Pegasus is my favorite reactor for the music I grew up with, and you are my second, love the realistic way y'all act, keep up the good work and thank you!
Definitely about the music (entertainment) industry...is what they are talking about. You chase those massive dreams as an innocent kid, and when you 'make it' that innocence and everything is stripped away. And you're indebted to them so you can never really leave...there's also a hotel California where all of these famous people would go. That's said to be haunted by some of those people...but they're all in the industry...back then, you couldn't be independent, you had to be signed. Then you can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave...💔😢🙏
To me, it's like somebody had a nightmare and wrote it down when they woke up before they forgot it. I sometimes have extremely vivid, complex nightmares and they are a lot like this. Disjointed scenes that are related but not quite rational, and although you want to escape it, you can't. I have, at times, had a nightmare where I thought I woke up from the nightmare but it was still part of the dream. I woke up for real from that one truly freaked out.
I was told when I was younger that it was about a brothel. Now that I'm older, I think it is about addiction. We all have our own devices. Oh, Black Pegasus, it's not 2nd place. It's first loser....lol

once you lose your innocence, you can't get it back. Once you learn something, you can't unlearn it. Once you know you an NOT know...no going back. Great reaction! I enjoyed it.
Thank you I’m glad you enjoyed the reaction
They all sing and take turns to lead. The Don Felder/Joe Walsh guitar at the end just gets better every time I hear it.
Right on, I’ll have to spend some time looking it up
IMHO THAT guitar cadenza was and still is THE BEST in all rock history TO DATE!!
Here is what it's about, Henley said that the song was about "a journey from innocence to experience ... that's all."
Yeah, I heard he said that in an interview
I'm 37 and only very recently am getting into classic rock. It's all I want to listen to now.
Soooo cool.
Molly Hatchet - Flirtin With Disaster
Listen to Bowie, especially his whole album from 1977, it's called "LOW " I rushed out as a 15 yr old to buy it on vinyl, which I still have, blessings from Glasgow..
@@williammichael2156 Okay, thanks for the recommendation. I have not listened to Bowie much if at all so thank you.
Deep Purple(smoke in the water)Three Dog Night, Supertramp, Journey, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, The Who- to name a few. I went from album to cassette to 8 track to cd for many of my favs
Love you guys reactions ❤
PLEASE do Take It To Limit
I have to check that one out
Lying eyes is another great track..
Closer to the classics! Let’s go bro! I freaking Love it! Do it! 🔥
Thank you for loving it, bro. You’re right, let’s go.
I loved how you guys sang along. Music is awesome.
I was at this concert when I was 19 yrs old. It was one of 2 times I saw these guys live❤
Well, I haven’t seen them once. That’s probably awesome.
I was also at this concert! It was my first concert at age 15.
Ive listened since i was small. I wasnt really sure till i got off of drugs. This song hit me bc you do go through hell when your on a ride trying to get bk to you. We are still addicts but i haven't touched anything for 21 years now. Thank the good Lord❤
Thanks guys! I love the Eagles❤ you are a great team!!!!
Definitely an incredible guitar player. Respect to him despite his situation.
Seeing the video is great, seeing it live was awesome. Great band
Yo Krizz , I’ve been a fan for a decade and I am so happy to see you putting yourself out there like this.
Love ya bro
Love you back uncle Randy. Thank you.
I love watching the two of you...Krizz you have a big amazing smile that makes me smile
Had this song on repeat for about half a year a half year ago lol. Everytime I drove!
Put it back on repeat
I don't care what the Eagless are trying to express ... for me it's about growing up. Once you walk thru the door of adulthood ... you can never go back to your youth. You go from child to adult in a heartbeat, and so there's no returning to the days of being a child. Every kid wants to grow up FAST, and every adult wishes they could go back to their childhood. Lesson is don't be in a hurry to walk through that door.
Definitely need to take your time.
That is a different, but really interesting and good interpretation of the song.
I would have never thought of it that way...but I love it...
Well said.
It's about selling your soul for fame.
You got it.
Seems like that would be right
I recently spent a glorious 4 hours having lunch with Jim Ed Norman, the architect of country rock. He still tours with The Eagles. His stories of sleeping on the couch after Jackson Browne moved out, Linda Ronstadt, writing for The Eagles, the LA scene in the early seventies were magical. These old guys won’t be with us much longer so we need to get their memories recorded fast!
"It's basically a song about the dark underbelly of the American dream and about excess in America, which is something we knew a lot about," Henley said in a 2002 interview with "60 Minutes." "We were all middle class kids from the Midwest," Henley said.Feb 15, 2024 You should react to Glenn Fry's "Smugglers Blues"
Yeah have heard a lot of stories about it
Thank you for a great trip down memory lane. Hotel California !!!!
We need karaoke with krizz after the reaction!
Thinking the same 😂😂❤
Would definitely need karaoke with me. That would be fun
Grew up on the eagles my uncle loved them so I grew up loving them especially Don Henley ❤
I was born in 75 I grew up with this music 🎵 especially in the 80s
It's about the music industry. How it lures you in with is luxuries.
Baits in the pleasure seekers
I love that you're getting into these songs. If people at your level find them, like them and enjoy singing along maybe they wont have to disappear into obscurity and will find new life as cover tracks or samples. I love cover tracks and samples. I've heard people say that they somehow lessen the original but I argue that they bring attention to songs that may have otherwise been forgotten, unless of course James Gunn puts them in a Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
I think it’s open to interpretation. I’ve just always loved loved The Eagles and their voices are just so awesome. I just loved the music and the harmonies. 😊
Is definitely open to interpretation
We had to pre-order the Hotel California album and then painfully wait for it to arrive. Every song was amazing and we loved it!! I was 15 years old and still love listening to the whole album!! I finally got to see them live here Australia at the Tennis Centre in Melbourne Australia in the early 2000s. I'll never forget it. They played for about 3 hours.
I'm an old hippy. This is our music. The BEST music ever played was during the 70's!!! Classic Rock!!!! Love, peace and rock!!!! It will NEVER be surpassed!!!🎉
Definitely the best
@@KrizzKalikoOfficialdang, dude, you're hitting some really nice low harmonies on that chorus! 👍
Great smile!! It says everything. ❤️✌️
I'm here for it!
Go Chiefs!
Yeah, I love doing reactions with him.
Its about the trappings of a Hollywood life to include things like addiction, being fake etc...
Definitely could’ve been about addiction, Joe
Was at that show my aunt took me I was 8 didn't want to go......then didn't want to leave..good luck with your channel it has been great watching you grow up and become a monster out there...take care
The song " Hotel California" is about the dark underbelly of America and excess in America.
It’s awesome to interpreted all these different ways
just pure talent. love the channel. classic rock is timeless.
Hotel California is a metaphor for California... the land of promise... escape... vice...California has it all, the beauty, the glitter, the magic and a shit load of darkness. The brighter the light, the bigger the shadow. California is a very bright light of a place and it casts a very dark shadow.
Crizz, you are buzzin. Great backing vocal. That smile says it all :)
Be careful with Eagles reactions. Don Henley is a pr*ck to reaction channels. I think you would enjoy Life's been good Joe Walsh guitarist with the bandana. Great reaction and Peace out ✌️ ☮️ 🙏
Eagles and Beatles reactions rarely stay up very long.
Thanks for the warning.
I like "In the city" by Joe Walsh.
Apparently, he didn't get the meaning and went to the dark side. Never enough!! Sad.
Yeah Henley is douche.
gotta say, Black Pegasus is my favorite reactor for the music I grew up with, and you are my second, love the realistic way y'all act, keep up the good work and thank you!
One of the most epic guitar solos in my opinion by the way, I watched your tiny desk concert with Tech N9ne chef’s kiss
They definitely epic
I’m officially down a rabbit hole with the channel. Loving what you guys are doing.
Don Felder I think Pegasus was trying to remember
He probably was
I love seeing you bring your family in on some of the reactions! You're a cool cat!
Actually they all sing songs. Very talented band. Awesome covering it. So I subscribed thank you
One of the best songs ever.
Definitely one of the best songs ever
Again with the harmony. I love it. Makes me smile. I tend to sing the harmonies, as well!
I can’t help it. I do it all the time.
Right on
Love you guys! Both of y'all are super intelligent with spot on musical insights! I watch every day!
I was told when I was younger that it was about a brothel. Now that I'm older, I think it is about addiction. We all have our own devices.
Oh, Black Pegasus, it's not 2nd place. It's first loser....lol
Indefinitely could have been about that.
So happy and proud you are reacting to ish now
THIS is how great music was in the 1970s this was 1976 i WAZ 16 YEARS OLD THE BEST YEARS IN MUSIC PERIOD 8 OF The top 25 biggest selling LPS in the USA are from the 1970s TRUE FACTS
Yeah, the 70s was a crazy time
MUSIC whys ,,,,,,,,,,,,,not even CLOSE. .2ND 60s
I've watched Black Pegasus ever since the covid shutdown. BP introduced me to KK. Subscribed!!!
I’ve stayed at Hotel California sooo many times for business (now a new name since a few years ago). The ‘backyard’ is sand and beach, nice landscaping in the courtyard, very surfer from the ‘60/70’s atmosphere with old surfboards around, guitars on the walls. I liked staying there, however my musician CEO stayed there one time in 25 years and since then, he’s never stayed there again …🤔
Haunted by spirits who live there certainly. You can feel it when you’re there, especially at night.
I didn’t know if it was an actual place
@@KrizzKalikoOfficial it definitely is
Sweet baritone line man!! Props!!
The talent it takes to play drums and sing like that is unreal. You can’t even hear it in his voice…
I've heard Henley say in an interview that he only did it because he didn't know any better
Definitely takes a lot of talent Chris
I saw many shows at the Capital Centre. Its been gone for a while. Thanks for sharing.
Addiction
Exactly!! Maybe it’s about fame and all that but I associate it with addiction! “You can check out any time you like but you can never leave” is basically the same as “once an addict, always an addict”
Definitely sounds like it’s bad addiction
Meisner's bass line is stellar; and the high flying backup singing... this was a banger and still is!
Nice reaction, y'all! Thank you❤
A strike may be coming. Eagles are harsh. Love the eagles. Never get sick of this song. Love to see them play it.
Count on it!
All good. Thank you.
Krizz! Great harmonization to this! Great job!
I think it’s about someone thinking they are headed to paradise but it turns out to be hell. Just my two cents.😊
Yup the music industry because we just see the " front," the back is secret and hell
Yeah, that could be crazy.
Oh god I love this song ❤❤❤ Great reactions from you 2 😍😍
The song represents the entertainment industry in California specifically and how evil it is and traps you in.
This is the meaning according to Joe Walsh (lead guitar) in an interview some 10 years ago.
It definitely trapped you in. But it’s also great at the same time.
Found you from black Pegasus. Old white woman and grew up listening to eagles. I just subbed. Anything from them is awesome.
1st comment. Krizz Kaliko - one of the dopest rapper's today. Hotel California is about CRC prison in Norco, California. It's also about over indulgence, addiction, etc.
Sounds reasonable
Such a pleasure to watch yall enjoy the music
I'm inspired.
Please spill some sugar about the bi-weekly stuff you mentioned.
I raised 75k and Christina Ann Tucker is to be thanked. I got my self my dream car 🚗 just last weekend, My journey with her started after my best friend came back from New York and saw me suffering in dept then told me about her and how to change my life through her. Christina A. Tucker is the kind of person one needs in his or her life! I got a home, a good wife, and a beautiful daughter. Note: this is not a promotion but me trying to make a point that no matter what happens, always have faith and keep living!!!
Wow 😱 I know her too
Miss Christina Ann Tucker is a remarkable individual who has brought immense positivity and inspiration into my life.
I started with a miserly $1500. The results have been mind blowing I must say TBH
< I know that woman(Christina Ann Tucker)
If you were born and raised in new York you'd know too, No doubt she is the one that helped you get where you are!!!!
Subscribed to both of y'all from jump. Love all the old rock! It's what I grew up on. So... Keep it coming!❤
There is a Hotel California in a small town in Baja California, Mexico, the only way to get there is on a long desert highway and right down the street is an old Catholic mission ("heard the mission bells " lyric in the song) where bells ring several times a day. But the Eagles (while none of them has ever said what it is about) claim that the "Hotel California" in Baja has nothing to do with it. Lol
Nada, no tiene nada que ver !! el hotel es posterior .... jjajjajajajaj
Who knows
Great song and loved you guys singing along, nice voices.
I heard that this song was about a mental hospital; Camarillo State Mental Hospital to be exact.
Absolutely not. That's propaganda.
Sounds like it could be the case. There’s a lot of interpret
It’s a about people that leave California and end up like Joe Rogan.
They will never stop talking about it!
Mentally they will never be able to leave.
Comment sections are full of people like that
Got here from Black Pegasus. Love your harmonizing.
I love when these reactors "react" to a song they have heard before...kind of defeats the purpose lol
Not when you’re trying to understand it. But appreciate your comment Robert.
