  • Part 3 of 5 - The Equivalent Lateral Force (ELF) Procedure Prescribed in IBC - 2000
This lectures series focuses on the history, evolution and formulation of equivalent lateral force (ELF) procedure for seismic analysis and design of building structures.
The part 1 focuses on the history and evolution of ELF procedure in last several decades.
The part 2 focuses on the formulation of ELF procedure as prescribed in UBC - 97.
The part 3 focuses on the formulation of ELF procedure as prescribed in IBC - 2000.
The part 4 focuses on the formulation of ELF procedure as prescribed in Building Code of Pakistan (BCP 2007) - This part is in urdu language.
The part 5 focuses on a practical demonstration of how the ELF procedure can be applied in ETABS and how the global responses of a building can be computed manually and compared with ETABS results.

Why Building Code of Pakistan didn't adopt spectral acceleration Ss & S1 procedure yet? Why it's still based on UBC97? What is the major advantage of IBC2000 over UBC97? Why Pakistan didn't adopt IBC2000?
