    • The Response Spectrum ...
This lectures series focuses on the basic concept, mathematical formulation and practical application of the Response Spectrum Analysis (RSA) procedure for the seismic analysis and design of building structures.
The part 1 focuses on the basic concept of response spectrum.
The part 2 focuses on the detailed mathematical formulation of the RSA procedure.
The part 3 focuses on the formulation of RSA procedure as prescribed in UBC - 97.
The part 4 focuses on the formulation of RSA procedure as prescribed in IBC - 2000.
The part 5 focuses on a practical demonstration of how the RSA procedure can be applied in ETABS and how the global responses of a building can be computed manually and compared with ETABS resuts.
I hope that this lecture series will be useful for you. Please feel free to contact in case of any query. My email address is fawad.najam@gmail.com.

Does ETABS have the option to account for orthogonal effects in load combination or do we have to manually input load combinations to account for orthogonal effects?

Hi Dr Najam when are we going to used a load combination with overstrength factor?

Using this method, i.e adopt the elastic RSA and apply the response modification factor to reduce the strength and amplification factor to account for yielding displacement, how do we know the system we are designing has the ductility capacity to fulfill the requirement?

Thanks for this video... I have 1 question which is very important to me, How can i consider accidental torsion where in staad software latest version using generic rsa, there is no option of considering dynamic accidental torsion. I hope you can help me with this.... Than have a nice day...
