We made a BIG move this year! We picked up, sold everything we owned and moved to Kenya. While we’ve been sharing our experience living here, we’ve never said “WHY” we left America. If you’re curious to know the answer this video is for you. We hope it answers your questions. In addition, we’re excited to help you and your group as you plan your visit and relocation to Kenya. To get in touch, you can schedule a consultation through this link: calendly.com/germaineandsaidah/30min We’d love to learn more about your specific needs, especially for those relocating, and tailor a personalized roadmap to make the transition smooth and stress-free. Looking forward to hearing from you! Warmly, Germaine & Saidah
Hey fam, thanks for your insight/perspective living in Kenya. By the way, if you're interested in exploring more when it comes to your grocery shopping, check out the farmers market in Karen and langata. There are 2 other places within the city, but they're not open throughout the week. But the 1st and 2nd options listed above should be good enough. Plenty of organic foods and restaurants in one big place. Thank me later. God bless.
I'm happy you are having a great experience in Kenya. I hope to visit soon. You two don't look old enough to have children in college. Wow! You look AMAZING! You look like you are in your twenties and thirties. I subscribed. I enjoyed this conversation.
You should get a pressure or slow cooker for cooking beef and goat meat. I moved to Jamaica and the meat is similar to Kenyan meat and that's how I cook those meats. These meats are tough because the cattle and goats are grass and pasture fed. It's the kind of meat you have to pay a lot of money for at the most expensive grocery stores in the US.
I hope more positive couples like you would move to Kenya and make the impact you are making. Our country is not perfect but we try to make it as great as it can get.
I am Kenyan lived in US for 30 years and I love the patience of Kenyans, the grace they give, love for God and people, wonderful food, weather for sure, simplicity of life. It's lovely to be home
That sounds wonderful! It's beautiful to hear how much you appreciate the qualities of home. The patience, grace, and simplicity of life truly make Kenya special. Welcome back! 🌍❤️

Food is great, tilapia is fresh and the best in the world, rice brown bismati , we bought a Toyota passo sette, I don't drive, my wife is braver than me .the cost of living is crazy, fully furnished apartment 6 days a week maid service. Congrats to both of you! My wife and I are definitely looking at moving to the motherland. Just sold our house 2 weeks ago and downsized to a 1 bedroom apt. Getting everything together to start traveling. I'm 20 years older but it's better late than never. Fantastic video!
Thank you! It sounds like an exciting adventure awaits you! Moving to the motherland is a big step, but it sounds like you're taking all the right steps to prepare. Downsizing and getting everything organized is a great way to start. It's definitely never too late to make a change and follow your dreams. Wishing you and your wife all the best on this journey!

Welcome Home. You both have beautiful Spirits. I have personally been praying for God to bring our Brothers and Sisters to come to Cannan (The Promised Land). So refreshing to see this unfold. Enjoy the power of the dollar locally - you deserve it. It may be God’s way of wiping away your tears. You are fighters. You are warriors, you are victors. We need you guys. We need each other. Together WE ARE STRONGER! Karibu Nyumbani. Karibuni sana. ❤
Your comment speaks to my heart. It feels like GOD wants me to come to Kenya after years of searching for which country may be best. After weighing so many factors, Kenya for spiritual etc reasons came to the top of my choices. Others were Rwanda, Uganda, SA, Namibia, Tanzania. I’m new at this and may need help figuring out a few details. The US is changing rapidly and it’s very concerning to me. GOD is guiding me I feel to come and bring love and peace and my talents with me. I do have my two huskies who are my fur babies and I hope I can bring them if coming one day to Kenya can happen somehow. I’ve moved and traveled in the past but never to Africa and it’s my dream. I knew a Kenyan years ago and she was such a kind person and wanted to show me Kenya but we somehow lost touch. She told me back then how much I would love it and I wished I had not been so caught up working in corporate America and had made more time to get off the hamster wheel to visit. I also want to explore my roots further and am waiting for my African DNA results back soon to narrow it down hopefully. One report said I shared mitochondrial DNA with Nelson Mandela and also pointed me to East Africa and some parts of West Africa also. Will see soon. I’m working on selling one of my cars and many of my things and will keep praying about it. Wishing everyone blessings, peace and Divine protection. ❤
I’m shocked that you guys are grandparents! You look young wow! As long as you are in God’s will, doing the Lord’s work, you will prosper! We are happy to have you guys here and God bless you and your family!
I love coming back home to Kenya. I felt the same excitement about moving to the USA over 20 years ago. We were told africa is this n that. But going back home after many years I realized what a blessing it was to be home.

I just bought a condo in Lovington and Melindi Kenya . I'm currently living in Atlanta. But originally from South Carolina . I'm in Nairobi every 3 months . I would like to meet up with you guys the next time I'm in Nairobi.
I’m sooo ready to visit Nairobi and Masa Mara. I’m thinking the same we almost paid our home off. We’re gonna visit first. Excellent video, yall covered all topics!
You should! Our home is almost paid off, however we still made the move. We just rent it out now and it more than covers the mortgage. We posted a video breaking down our decision last week. Sounds like you have a solid plan in place though.
Honestly, it's so refreshing to listen to you guys. There are so many Americans who focus on the negatives. Especially African Americans who have moved to Portugal. Thank you for keeping it positive. Thank you for promoting an African country. God bless you. I feel like your video is a sign for me.
Thank you for the kind words and support! It truly means a lot to us. We're passionate about sharing the beauty of Africa and showing people that it’s more than what some might assume. Moving here has been such a fulfilling journey for us, and we’re thrilled to keep things positive focused. Your message really resonates with us, and we’re glad our videos are connecting with people in a meaningful way. Wishing you all the best as you explore what’s next in your journey-trust that those signs will keep leading you exactly where you’re meant to be. God bless you!
Thank you for sharing! I was born in kenya and lived there for 9 years! Came to the US and have been here since. Watching your videos and also other channels that vlog in Kenya, I've seen tremendous growth and change as well! I love how you explain things in details. Thank you!
Welcome to Kenya! Your story is an inspiration and I hope it demystifies the learned stereotypes and encourages brothers and sisters to make the journey back home. I firmly believe that God is doing something amazing with Africans in the motherland and in the diaspora, and you are the vessels He is using to fulfill His will. By the way you look like Kenyans already, Germaine looks like a Kikuyu gent while Saida looks like a Luo lady! Karibu Kenya
It is the only solution at this moment in history. I may not get there but I pray my grandchildren can live to the Continent after they complete college. Take their education and add value.
That was a great and smart advice sir ! People need to heal first before coming to the mother land . Most African Americans are hurting , but there’s hope here in Africa

@@tdunde that’s a BIG plus for us. We not only get to share our experience with our family back home through these videos, but with so many others as well who are interested.
@TravelCheckIns True. Some of my relatives immigrated to the US in the early 1990s. We could only read their experiences through letters or when they came back to visit.
Waiting to see you make friends Upcountry, and show more life outside of Nairobi. Most Kenyans live in the rural areas, in their own land. Life there is different and more social, welcoming, real.
Yes, we definitely plan to explore more life upcountry and show what it's like outside of Nairobi! We know the majority of Kenyans live in the rural areas, and we’re really excited to share that experience-especially the warmth and sense of community that’s so strong in those places. We can’t wait to connect with more people, learn from them, and show the beauty of rural Kenyan life. Stay tuned for more!
Lovely lovely couple..enjoyed every bit of this. Karibu kwetu Kenya and feel at home. May you find the fulfillment you so much yearn in this new chapter. Enjoy our hospitality.

Welcome to East Africa, the most beautiful region geographically and most progressive politically. East Africa is going to be a superpower in the next 30 years!!!
Germaine has hard facial features and looks stern, this is the first video since I started watching you where he has appeared a bit lighthearted. It made me wonder whether other Kenyans come across him and think he is law enforcement in civilian clothing because I would think the same thing if he does not open his mouth and I hear the American accent. Great video!
Haha, that’s so funny! Germaine does have a naturally serious look, but he’s actually super lighthearted once you get to know him. We’ve joked about the same thing-his demeanor might give off those "law enforcement" vibes, especially if he’s not speaking. But as soon as people hear that American accent, the gig is up! Thanks for watching and for the great comment! 😊
Nice to meet you both! Such a warm couple you are! Here in Sarasota FL feeling the spirit calling me to Africa for first time and I narrowed it finally down to Kenya but not quite sure where yet. Felt called to go near Mt Kenya but not sure. Since I have an older and younger Siberian Husky dog and envision living in a house with yard and area to garden/ and manage my online business. I’m single over 50. Any suggestions?
@@IngstarGlobalVenturesOfficial we actually offer consultations for people interested in moving to Kenya or abroad. There’s a link to schedule in our first pinned comment. We hope to see you here very soon. 🙂
I think travelling abroad is more of a calling. I remember going to the United states and got really depressed going back to Kenya. Now I intend to go to the us but invest back in Kenya. As for the renewal of the visa kudos for being law abiding citizens. Kenyans are not really vigilant on that aspect as I recall of an American who resided in Kenya for more than 8 years illegally but eventually relocated back.
It’s great to hear about your plans to invest back in Kenya, however we are curious to know why you find Kenya depressing. Thanks for sharing your insights on visas and the experiences of others-staying law-abiding is definitely important for us!
Thanks for sharing. Please explore more places in Kenya, there are more towns and cities with different test to life that I do think it would be worth your time
I love your positivity, I lived in the US for a while and I found the fruits and vegetables all tasteless. Welcome to Kenya and may the Lord bless you immensely.
Deciding to keep your home was a good idea because you were coming to Kenya and you didn't know what to expect...though I know you did your research but you never know...get lots of love from me in Kenya
Hey you guys are the vibe. God bless you. Make a point of using an Uber to go to Highridge ( its about 10 minutes from westlands) on Tuesday, Friday or Sunday for the fresh market. All the foods (veges and fruits) are fresh and cheap. Karibu sana. We love our bothers and sisters in Christ
Y'all look too amazing to be grandparents tbh!! Welcome to Kenya. Enjoy this chapter of your lives. Though there are certain things you should have checked out. Like you could have packed your things/belongings in a container and shipped them here, especially the things you didn't want to let go of. The government doesn't tax those things allows you to bring them in for free.
Thank you. We kept the things we deemed most important. I actually think it was good letting go of those things. Sometimes he hold on to things that we really don’t need. It’s been a freeing process.
Empty nesters and grand parents too??? I would never have guessed you both look really young!! Love your hair as well. Germaine seems more relaxed in this video. Saidah is always relaxed and smiling. I enjoy your videos.
Thank you so much! We appreciate the kind words. 😊 We get that a lot about our ages-it's probably all the joy we get from traveling and experiencing new things together! Have a blessed day.

Great video once again guys and thanks for making it clear that there are many options for the lifestyle you choose to live instead of telling the people it's very expensive and you only have to come with millions to live there.
Asante sana! It's wonderful that you've embraced both worlds, with Africa as home while still enjoying visits to the States. There's something special about having those connections in both places! How do you and your husband usually split your time between the two?

Wow this is my first time watching you guys and are really enjoying your topic it's always great to follow the leading of the LORD.so happy for you guys wish I was younger KENYA or GHANA always dreaming to move .❤🙏
Glad to hear you are well settled in, enjoying your stay in Kenya and not missing home much apart from family. Just curious, has Germaine always been a Southern boy? His accent is so distinct from yours which I assume is from the North East. We could do with a little smiling from Germaine though 😂😂😂. The immigration department is called Nyayo House. Hopefully, your visa for missions/long stay is approved so that you are here semi permanently if not permanently. Your vlogs/videos have been enjoyable to watch, keep us updated on your journey.
Thank you for the kind words and curiosity! Germaine is indeed a Southern boy, born and raised, while I hail from the Northeast, so that explains the different accents. 😂 I'll definitely encourage more smiles from him on camera, but don't hold your breath! 😂 God is in control in regard to the visa approval. I'm know it will work out better than we can imagine. We're just really excited about the possibilities ahead. We appreciate your support and will keep the updates coming! 🌍❤️
It’s amazing to hear that our videos are giving you hope! Taking that step is a huge decision, and it sounds like you're already beginning to envision the possibilities. New subbie here n i love u guys already.Sometimes life is funny, the way some of us kenyans yearn to get that US Visa n on your part, you are happy n comfortable in Kenya😊
We get it though. America is a great country, but it has its issues. Every Kenya we know who has gone to America has reaped the benefits, but they give up some of the Kenyan benefits for the “American Dream”. One has to take the good parts of America and leave the rest which is often easier said than done. Thank you for the thoughtful comment and for subscribing.

We are learning toward selling our house in the states when we move to Kenya. We might keep it and rent out to my parents if they decide not come with us. We shall see. Dad and I are coming on November 1st for 11 days so I will see if he likes it there.
I'm Kenyan living in US and definitely will go back after retirement. My advice is don't sell your property instead rent it. The income will be more than enough to live like a rich guys in Kenya. Reason because you can't make good living their by being employed. You either go and invest in real estate or anything of that nature plus you will be receiving rent from your property in US. Otherwise you're most welcome to our country and so long as you appreciate diversity of African culture you'll have wonderful time and excellent experience of tropical weather.
It's great to even have the option of selling or renting and the decision will be easy when the time comes. It's also nice that you'll have time to show your dad around Kenya in November and help him get a feel for life here. We'd love to do that with our parents soon Lord willing.
See, I find myself asking the same questions...what is supposed to be the next chapter of my life? I don't know just yet...but I feel like its supposed to be abroad.
It sounds like you're on the verge of an exciting new chapter! Sometimes, not knowing exactly what’s next can be the perfect place to start. If you’re feeling drawn to living abroad, that could be a sign to explore those possibilities. Traveling or moving to a new country can open up so many opportunities and help you discover more about yourself. Whether it’s for work, a new experience, or just a fresh start, trust that you’re on the right path and the answers will come as you take steps forward. It’s exciting that you’re thinking about this-you never know what amazing things could be waiting for you!

Woow such a great insights a bout kenya, i really enjoy the conversations a bout your experience , food , cultural differences, the weather .First and fore most i would like to welcome you to mother land , the idea of the blacks coming to Africa was started by Marcus Garvey. Lastly wish you the very best in your your Mission.

We truly appreciate your support and kind wishes for our mission. Looking forward to sharing more as we continue this incredible adventure in Africa!
Germaine, the weather in Nairobi can be extremely cold in the months of June&July. The cold may not be as extreme as it was more than 25-30 years ago, because many trees have been cut down to pave way for housing contruction. By the way, the language is Kiswahili and not Swahili. You speak in Kiswahili not Swahili. Saidah, I believe you meant Nyayo House and not Nyanya. Nyanya has two meanings, tomatoes and grandmother. Welcome home
Thanks for the great suggestion! Diani and The Cave restaurant sound like a perfect way to celebrate a special occasion. We already have birthday plans, but we will be in Mombassa later this year and will look into making dining reservations early. Appreciate the tip!
Are you on the five year multiple entry visa? How do you maintain your stay there if the visa allows only three months stay. You can extend it for another three months so you can stay in Kenya for six months altogether for the year. After the sixth months, you have to leave the country then you can re-enter and start the process again. where do you go for the remaining six months of the year? I believe they have the six months in the year rule or they don’t enforce it you just do the visa run?
We have to go to US to see family so we have to leave the country. I think you can come back anytime as long as you have left East Africa. Hopefully our visa situation will be settled next year.
@TravelCheckIns class K permit? That cost you around $2000 US per year. With an annual income of not less than USD 24000 per year. The others are for mining, agriculture, NGO, specific trade business, and missionary work.

Have you been to the coast region i.e Diani, Watamu/Malindi or Lamu? Try to get away from Nairobi once in a while. Sounds like you do for your mission though. A 40 minute flight, 4 hr train ride or 2 - 3 hour drive can take you to a totally different climate. Naivasha 2 hours away is dope for a quick weekend getaway.
The coast is definitely on the list. We’ve been to Isiolo and the Mara (in the past). Thanks for the tip. Hopefully we’ll have plenty of time in the coming years to visit most of the country.
Blessings upon any of our peoples and families who can move to the motherland..you can see and feel the relief from returning to our motherland, most of us carry seen and unseen trumas and scars from living in America...in africa your not black just one of the families
Yes, we’ve actually had the chance to experience the beauty of the Maasai Mara while serving as missionaries among the tribes that live there. It’s been an amazing journey, not only seeing the wildlife but also connecting with the community. Being in the Mara allows us to appreciate the cultural richness and natural beauty of this region. That’s beautiful! I’m on my way as well 🙏🏾 I can’t wait!!!

They would think what a handsome Kikuyu or Maasai coz he looks like both
Haha, that’s so funny! Germaine does have a naturally serious look, but he’s actually super lighthearted once you get to know him.

Glad to hear you are well settled in, enjoying your stay in Kenya and not missing home much apart from family. Just curious, has Germaine always been a Southern boy?

We love the weather here in June/July. Those are two of the months we know we’ll always want to be in Kenya and not traveling.
