I finally got round to installing and testing the GuliKit Hall effect replacement joysticks that promise to eliminate Joy-Con drift.
I bought these joysticks months ago, so I'm well behind the curve here but it's a project I wanted to do and I'm sharing the project here - I'll go through the process of installing in both Joy-Cons, setting up and testing and giving my opinion on the final product.
BONUS CONTENT! I used the GuliKit sticks to repair two of my brother's Joy-Cons and he passed on a couple of third party Switch Controllers to take a look at too, I could have made a separate video I guess but I have too many other projects planned so I wanted to get this out while it was fresh.
    Enjoy!

The Y screwdriver was terrible. The screwdriver head stripped out on me while taking out the first screw. + screwdriver worked perfectly fine. I love these thumbstick replacements tremendously. ONLY problem I have is their sensitivity. They are crazy sensitive. Even the slightest movement of them will get the camera panning or your avatar moving. Not really a problem except in this scenario... You are in aiming mode in Zelda TOTK, you are trying to use motion controls to aim the bow and arrow... You accidentally nudge the thumbstick, which would aim the bow and arrow as well, thus causing the motion controls to stop responding and wait for the thumbstick to move again.

Is it possible to set the dead zone?

The sticks feel really solid but the sensitivity is such a short travel distance it is really hard to play Zelda now. I don't understand why they made them like this when the kingkong 2 or 3 controller sensitivity is really nice.

@@nathanstorrs6741Yeah I ordered a set of kingkong for my buddy to do his joycons. And I agree, they have a much better deadzone than the theses ones. These I can still say are great, but they need to tweak the sensitivity on them. I have even been having trouble playing blaster master and mario with them. The sidescroller games... Sometimes letting the stick go to self center causes unwanted motion of the characters... so its a little troublesome.

Hey, could you tell me if after they the battery run out or when you turn off and on, did the joycons discalibrate?

That's a very interesting point. It's my brother's joy cons so I will check with him

If you have drift, it's worthwhile. Otherwise I would say keep it as it is for now
