Daniel Hibbert sells a product called Baize, which is a liquid you add to water to be sprayed on specifically for worms cast prevention. Ive started using it and seems to work well
I watched local greenkeepers on a golf course using "whips" thin flexible rods, they swished them across the grass surface, so! I bought a cheap 9 ft fishing rod from a charity shop, it works a treat 😊 best after dry conditions.
My yard if full of something that I think is worm casting. It’s making my yard so spongy ~ whatever it is. It’s now close to my foundation so they have to go.
While I airiate my lawn with a garden fork, plenty of worms come out of the ground. My daughters 2 ducks 🦆🦆 like to help themselves to them. Helps keep the numbers of them down!! Hopefully won't have as many casts now 🙌
I put down sulphur flakes at 1KG per 100M2 for the first time this year and it seems to be working. I’ve been doing it every four weeks since end September and although not gone they are significantly reduced.
jet spray with your water hose. it should disentigrate. also here in nz we use tea saponin to repel / deter worms in the lawn (not kill them) not sure if you have it in uk.
it works for me probably takes me half hour to go round my 100sqm lawn with fork and bucket, you do seem to have an excessive amount of them though. i have noticed in the past that i got a more excessive amount of them too after top dressing in 70-30 , i think not entirely sure but i dont think the worms like the sand much
I used a product from striking lawns (From Amazon) 2 weeks ago and its reduced the worm casts in my lawn by about 90% really good stuff. (Used Iron sulphate in the past and really not good results regarding worm casts and it reduces your lawn PH over time)
I used a watering can, filled it half up with water then put in a cap and half of the product and then topped up the watering can to the can then applied. I had good results between 7 and 10 days.
Iron does work but you need to put on a heavy dose. It acts as a turf harder so good to stop worm casts. You can use a leaf blower to get rid of worm casts if not too wet . Probably the fork is best tho? 👌
I believe iron works to make the soil more acidic, and worms don't like that. Ammonium sulfate as well. I just started myself with this, but I think this is more of a long term thing, definitely not just 1 or 2 apps.
Sulphate of amonia either granular or liquid form every 2 weeks to get that ph down to between 5.5 to 6 which is perfect for the grass but is too acid for the worms, I'm in the process of doing it myself on my backyard green, good luck.
The fence around the lawn should help keep the worms out.
They were queuing up waiting for me to take a down

Will have a look at this. I've used a brush this week which has worked a lot better than picking them up!
No, he sells a product that has his sticker on. I guarantee you can find the same product elsewhere and prob alot cheaper
Good effort.

Boss idea. Those tools are usually quite pricey too, so absolute bargain there!
I really need a solution for that
Garden brush if you want an easy one. Filmed a video yesterday that I'll have edited for Saturday. But the brush has given the best results so far!
Leaf rake is the best all round solution to reduce the impact. It’s fast, breaks them up pretty good. Yes not 100% but is any method?
Very true, no perfect fix for it unfortunately.
try your leaf blower. it helps dry both the grass blades and the worm casts - and break them up too.
Will have a go, cheers

I use a bamboo cane in the same way you use a greenkeepers switch. It breaks them up and no need to pick the soil up afterwards
Great shout

Need to get myself a couple of those!

Not heard of doing that one - food for thought though. Will look into it, cheers
@@NoviceGardenerforgot to add that is does not harm worms in any way it just forces them down.
What’s the sprayer you use? Looks powerful
Marolex - only 7L and a bit pricey, but decent bit of kit.

Not heard of that one, will have to have a look.
Let the little buggers aerate the lawn …….will look great next spring 😉
I use bath salts which you can buy from Amazon I saw it on a yard bra video
Another one I've not heard of - sounds mad, but if it works!
I think bath salts are pure magnesium and the worms don’t like it

I thought that about aeration and top dressing. I may have made the soil nice and airy for them to zip about down there!
I replaced my top 10cm with sand instead of soil, and i had alot more wormcasts after.

I've just ordered some, did you spray it on or use a watering can?

Good shout on the leaf blower - a few have mentioned this and I've not though to try it
Using a medium/soft broom brush breaks it up and sweeps them back into the lawn.
I've been doing that this week (recording this video last) and it's made a massive difference. Saves picking them all up!
Sulphate of amonia either granular or liquid form every 2 weeks to get that ph down to between 5.5 to 6 which is perfect for the grass but is too acid for the worms, I'm in the process of doing it myself on my backyard green, good luck.
Good shout. The iron seems to make it more acidic, but will need multiple applications.
The downside of using an organic fertiliser later in the season. They come to digest the organic matter.
Hadn't considered it. May be the case.
I just use a leaf rake. find it breaks them up and spreads it nicely across my lawn. Might be completely wrong who know 😂
My leaf rake wasn't breaking them up much, just moving them around! Brushing them with a regular garden brush has done a job this week though
Worms mean you have healthy soil. They are aerating naturally.
Best bet,use your leafblower to disperse them, its topsoil.
Could be be worse,moles!!😂
Very true! 🤣
Leaf blower is a good shout
Just use a stiff broom. Way too much work picking casts up
That's what I've been doing now for the past week, huge difference!
